PAGAN SYMBOLS & THE BORG
by Mary in.
does the society have any sort of explanation as to why they condone absolutely ever pagan symbol in relation to all the worldly holidays, but allow all christians to wear a wedding ring, a totally pagan symbol that originated in egypt?.
or are we showing a lack of faith by asking such a question..........

I suspect this will sound wierd
by buckthesystem ini have been reading about the witnesses for some time - but the information i read is always massively biased against.
it is even hard to tell if this web site is exclusively designed for aggrieved ex-witnesses.
i am at a loss here.

JW Baptism Ceremony
by nonjwalltheway indoes anyone have the actual language used in the jw baptism ceremony?
i was interested particularly in the section where a newly baptized individual has to recognize the watchtower as the spirit directed organization.
are there any jw manuals that i could reference as well?

JW Questions

Months of the year/Days of the week-Pagan Origin?
by nonjwalltheway inwhy do the jw's still acknowledge the months of the year and the days of the week.
i recall from my elementary school classes that the months of the year and the days of the week were named after roman gods and goddesses.
the watchtower preaches that a good christian will not partake in anything that has pagan origins.

The Watchtower Made The "Truth"
by nonjwalltheway inthe watchtower bible & tract society has a great way of maintaining its membership.
i say this because membership attrition (members leaving) is reduced by scarring the hell out of people by making them believe that they are doomed unless they are jehovah's witness and that they strictly follow watchtower doctrine.
what a pathetic religion to guilt people into membership and to guilt them into maintaining attendence.

JW's Should Start Their Own Country!
by nonjwalltheway injehovas' witnesses are an interesting group.
they enjoy the freedoms and liberties that they receive by living in the united states, but at the same time they refuse to partake in voting, national celebrations and have basically created their own nation within a nation.
i find it hypocritical for them to act in this manner and believe that they should gather from around the world and all go and live together on some island.
