For me here in eastern North America (Canada).
Today is the day: December 29th @ 11:15 a.m., which for me here is 06:15 in most of eastern North America.
If anyone is reading this thread. If it's closing in on 06:00 hours in your part of North America, it'll be 15 minutes until the service there in Manchester, England, U.K..
- 15 minutes from right now.
Respectfully yours,

**** Things Dansk did for you *****
by FlyingHighNow inwhat did our dear friend dansk say to you, or do for you that you cherish?
once, i had to leave jwd for a little while.

I can't believe all the new names on here. Anyways, one of the things Dansk (Ian) helped me to do, was to open-up about my struggles and post them here on-line for EVERYONE to see. It took some time to get my thoughts together, but it proved to be one of the longest posts I had ever written; exposing a great deal of sensitive reading material (most assuredly) for many of you. He encouraged me. He supported me. He thanked me. He NEVER let me down as a fellow ex-JW.

I did not post the loss of my old gal "Baby" but I know Ian knew of her; he knew of all my gals: Baby and Busy (the budgies) and of course, Nimh the footless cockatiel. He and I had some discussions about birds via on-line messages and his references to birds on his on-line contributions. He had a love for birds. But he also had a HUGE love for his family too! I never got to meet him in-person; I was lucky to hear his voice. We spoke on the phone, which was wonderful. I was fortunate to receive Christmas cards from Ian & Claire over the last couple of years. A continual year to year custom from across the Atlantic. To think...I got my cards right. 2009 - will be the YEAR I get back to the U.K. after almost 19 years. SIGH! Manchester. Yes, but I'll be still making a request to visit, if Claire and her family will have it. I won't be long; just a wee acknowledgement. My gals (late one nows: Baby & Busy); Nimh and Blue. Will be grateful. FinallyFree was the one to break the news to me while I was on my way to work. I always, always thought highly of Ian (Dansk). He was a cut above the rest. Respectfully yours, RAY

I'm sure, given your intrinsic involvement; perhaps more deeply than I could ever imagine (time spent in the organization): hearing things about various Governing Body Members and such;
No surprise!
But, for what it is worth; my time lapse from the WTBTS has been now...approximately, 23 years.
Reading YOUR post only solidifies my posit; glad to be on the exterior of this organization.
Grandma Mouthy.
Your time spend within the WTBTS is remarkable. Even moreso, that you were able to question doctrine and scriptural references; then to be caste to the side like everything you ever did within the organization, was a moot point.
Sad.
BUT GLAD: because we got the best lookin' apostate granny anyone could ever hope for.
Big hugs love.
I'm a non-believer, but I believe one thing: I think you're the bees knees love.
Big kisses/hugs, (Free of charge)

Did you ever really have true blue friends being a Witness?
by Cheetos inlooking back i don't think i really ever had any good friends being witness, cause if i would have some out of all those people and so called friends i thought i had, you would think one of them would have looked me up over the years.
what a farce.

Many years after leaving the WTBTS, eventually with the advent of the internet, there were many times where I'd look up names of people from my Jehovah's Witness experience. I will use the term (experience) because, it was.
Eventually after many years post 1983/84 - it was a dry spell.
Once the internet kicked-in, it was open season on finding friends; or so-called.
So-Called.
That is what they were.....then.....and now? Well, a few have responded.
Some are 'so-called'; some are: from the past, and that is where they belong.
Not too much missing, these days.
As time goes on: people from long while back; have changed in ways, you can hardly imagine: JUST LIKE OURSELVES.

Even As An Athiest: Are You More Non-Catholic / Non-Protestant ?
by RAYZORBLADE injust curious.

Just curious. No, go to hell: don't laugh!
There's folks from nations that are predominantly 'Roman Catholic'. There's folks from nations that are predominantly 'Protestant'.
Yet, there are those from 'said' Roman Catholic countries; I sit here and have to wonder, HOW 'athiestic' are they REALLY??
Yet, there are those from 'said' Protestant countries; I sit here and have to wonder, HOW 'athiestic' are they REALLY??
Just wondering.
Even though you are an athiest; in some countries where you supposedly type from; are you still more close to 'Rome' - as you are NOT Italian, in your bones, afterall?
Even though you are an athiest; in some countries where you supposedly type from; are you still more close to YOUR church - as you are NOT American, in your bones, afterall?
I've been watching this for years.
Coming from a mixed Irish-Catholic/Scottish Protestant and North American First Nations' mix - the ironies are almost worthy of a painting.
Athiest?
Yeah, right!
I've noticed the 'catholic athiest' versus 'protestant athiest' bullshit simmers...albiet differently; yet it is really the same! It's VERY interesting!
They don't believe in god/GOD - yet the 'before' mindset registers still.
Baloney!

I can't imagine the immediate psychological pain/grief.
IT'S REAL!
Blondie: pearls before the swine.
No dear, it's withdrawal of all things precious; nuture the poor pig - they can be trained to consume healthier produce without the mental anguish. The poor swine. I'd have more faith in nuturing swine versus supreme brainwashed Dubs (it's difficult/painful/agonizing) - but in the meantime...even animals have better sense.
Sorry to read of your recent confrontation (because, that is what it was).
They (in their minds) are always right: we (are) always wrong.
Hang in there!!

WOW!
I haven't been here in several weeks. That may a good thing, time for me to behave myself.
Congratulations to the United States of America. Good for you - status quo has taken a backseat to complacency and fear.
Socialism? You right-wingers make me laugh. People whom never travelled out of their own borders/Fox tells you what to do? Right? No! OK, sorry. The askewed view of it, outside of the U.S. makes me howl with laughter more often than not. Geez!!
On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 4, 2008. A dear friend of mine and I drove to the extreme southwestern region of Ontario (Windsor). My friend, he grew-up in Windsor, Ontario. He saw the riots in the mid-late 1960s and the fires burn from Canada. DETROIT, burning...and burning! So sad.
Not anymore!
40 years later. He said to me; listening to WJR 760 AM - 'Look, it's not burning now!'
Listening to the radio reports bit by bit courtesy of the Detroit AM stations (WJR 760/WWJ 950) as the results poured in, as we sat on the banks of the Detroit River (Canadian side of the river) - was magical. The weather (that day in Southern Ontario and most of the Lower Great Lakes, was phenominal) was perfect to say the least.
Around 11:00 P.M. - the text messages were coming constantly one after the other on my cellphone from friends in the U.S. and Canada and yes, even the U.K.. It was like.....WOW! Beyond WOW!
HISTORY!? Indeed!
It was nice to hear on the two AM stations in Detroit, that Mr. Barack Obama was declared the President of the most powerful nation on the planet. WOW!
Even for us, as Canadians, we were humbled by it.
Our election? F**king boring and uninteresting to say the least. You Americans outdid us, rightfully so!!
It was late. My friend and I drove back to Toronto.
As we headed back onto the 401 - we tuned into WBBM 780 AM eminating out of Chicago. We listened to President-Elect Obama's acceptance speech.
What can I say?
It moved me!!
The skies headed back to Toronto were gorgeous - the sky full of stars I haven't seen because of urban incandescent blight. Essex-Kent-Elgin county skies were crystal clear - and to hear Barack Obama's voice booming across the airwaves - yes...was magic!!
"We've come so far, so fast" (Don Henley)
My buddy and I grasped each others hands during a 'part' of his (President-elect Obama's) speech.
Driving back to Toronto - was the best 'back-home' drive late at night I've participated in recent memory.
Almost 2 weeks later.
Here I am, listening to old Fleetwood Mac (Landslide) - and it seems all so right! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0aAtYW3TmM
Just a check-in.
Before time runs out.
