i have small children.

i was raised a witness, so i never celebrated holidays.

now, i don't go to meetings, don't agree that the watchtower is jehovahs sole channel of communication.

I asked because if no one does anything as is then you can have a clean slate and do whatever you want. You could be ground zero for a new tradition. Ever see the Seinfeld about "Festasfus for the rest of us?"

Holidays are not all rosy all the time. There can be a lot of stress too, even dread. Some people feel so obligated to do what the "family" does that they hate holidays. My mother in law just died. My Dad never celebrates the holidays with us. He always did it with his wife, he liked to get the extra pay for working on holidays. (always did) Now she is gone. He will have to learn new ways to do things. And, that old dog does no new tricks. I am concerned for him.

I just received a new book from one of the religious teaching churches that I trust. The book is "How to have a Merry Christmas." One thing that I have learned from the book is this. This season find the spirit of Christmas. And all the Holidays. "Love wastefully."

This is a qoute from it. "When we sing Joy to the World, the Lord has come, may we be in that joy."

Well, I look forward to my next victims. I have my bags packed and I am ready to go...Out in service that is. I have some great stuff too. About the Jehovah Witnesses sure ya I got that. Silentlambs yep. Some of the people on my block know and they are looking forward to it. Friends have even agreed to call me when their neighborhood is under seige. It's gona be a hoot!

Will There Be A Final Issue?

what i mean is, we keep seeing new issues emerge which highlight the hypocrisy, and some cases, the downright evil of the wathctower org, such as their fartarsing around with the blood doctrine, the un ngo scandal, ownership of shares in arms manufacturers, the paedophile cover-ups and associating with other religions in order to band together to secure continued "freedom of religion" from worldly governments.

will this steady flow of emabarrassing info about what they are truly about continue, or will it one day stop?

As long as there are those who will not think for themselves then there will always be those ready and willing to do it for them. People will do almost anything and pay almost any price to escape being responsible for their own actions and behavior. That is why Satan was created/invented in the first place. The ultimate scapegoat.

It's not right. It's not your fault and your friend or ex friend is small to act that way. I have a few thoughts and a few experiences of my own to share.

Have you read the story that Bill Bowen has posted in many places. (So sad.) I really to feel for him. But, when he was an elder would he have hesitated to push that kind of persecution or pettyness? (however you see it.) My point is think of the growing that anyone who comes to see what petty hurt is inflicted by that act. My mother in law once said that she can not see why in the world I will not become a JW. I told her how I could never hurt people the way that they do on the flip of a dime. It goes against everything that I am and everything I believe. Her response was well then you would not get babtized. Meaning that I do not have the balls to be that cruel for their god. But the truth is I refuse to be spiritually casterated just to have the affection of people who can not love anyone without permission.

I think that the key is to adopt the people that are ruined by relgion as a part of your own family. Thus is my story.

I have a friend or and ex friend who seems to have found a version of jesus, god, truth, relgion or something. He never even told me what doctrine or belifes he held. He just turned into one mean S.O.B. He started screaming and swearing at everyone in site. Beating his dog and picking fights with life long friends and family then writing them off. I have no contact with him now. His kids and mine are the same age. He was the best man at my wedding and I at his. About a year ago I saw him at a local grocery store. He spotted me and stuck his nose in the air and walked by as if I did not even exist. He was red in the face as he did it. I could feel the hate. He will not speak to his family. His mother has never seen her little granddaughter. So my wife and I consider his parents family. They will be having thanksgiving with us. What more can I do? This guy has became such a well, Farkel has a word that is quite fitting. Quite frankly life is better without him. And I assume that most of us that have ex jw(menaing active) friends that we are better off without. Less we may become more like them. Hurtful people. I don't want to be like that. In fact the feeling that I have for jw's. I don't even want that. I on one hand feel sorry for them. And on the other hand I will never shed another tear because of the mean spirit that they wish to give me. If a jw or in my case any religous "bitch" want to avoid me, they are probably doing us both a favor. I want to persue real relationships with real people. Life is to short for the dogma games. Real life for Real Faith is so much more filling.

Newboy thanks for your story. Maybe one day I or some other me will get to buy you that meal your friend should have had with you. I look forward to it.

Soon my 2 small children will suffer a tremendously fun christmas. We will eat till we can't eat no more have more presents than anyone deserves. I will see most of my family...Even the ones that I do not really like...It will be awful. We drink and laugh and drink and laugh and drink...Horrible. The kids in the family all get together and play. And have so much fun. Somehow it always helps to make life a little better and easier to just accept that everything is going to be OK.

If you deny yourself the beauty of christmas I hope that your kids find the spirit of it for themselves in spite of your not wanting it when they grow up.

There are enough reasons to be bitter about life. xmas is at least one excuse to partae. musky have you or do you have any family that does in fact do the normal holidays? I plan to start my Thanksgiving turkey soon. Poor tom. But he will taste so good.

And to those who say that christmas is (only) for kids...HA! Then I refuse to grow up! (It is not evil to have fun)

How DO you do it?

this is not a question to get too personal, but how do so many of you find the time to post so much?

i have trouble finding time to read a few posts, let alone respond to or begin as many as so many of you folks do.

We all have 24hrs a day. We all allocate time according to our priorities. The faster you can read and type helps. And some of them (us) have a wicked quick (or morbid) ability to respond to a thread. And that my friend is the real key. No dwelling on what to say in a response...Just respond...Like an IRL conversation talking face to face or on the phone. If more of them (us) hear ever learn to use our talents to write a newspaper column...Look out Dear Abby...

None Donkey. I have no issue with your question. Nor you. I think that you are right on. And, when you put it that way then....Maybe someone needs a little metaphysical lithium. (When I die I will be buried with a little containier of lithium. When I AM in heaven I will give it to God, with some anti-depressiants maybe he will be a little happier and stop all the doom and gloom drama...Or maybe the doom and gloom outlook on the world is BS.)

I have said many times that I think that we have "God" all wrong. To understand "faith" is easy. And, it is internal. It is about YOU and only YOU. To understand "religon" is a waste of time. It is not real. It is something for people who are either at the top and/or looking to exploite people who are weaker than them or people who are too weak to be who they are. They need an external "truth" because the internal "truth" has either been silenced by apathy or they are just too scared to look at it. (For them) It is easier to dismiss or kill anyone who will be with "God" in an independent faith. Ideology just sucks when it is forced on other people who do not want or need it. And it is the responsibility for the common man to always question those who are in authority to keep in check "if" that authority is valid. That authority just or unjust may kill without your permission. But, they can not control you without your permission. How many relgions or people say believe my way. Accept my way as the only way to help people or to know god. Follow me because I work magic. "Pay no attention to the little man behind the curtian." (We need more Dorathys)

Sounds like a delusional Bipolar when you put it that way.

Of course maybe we have "God" all wrong. Maybe when we stop turning to man for answers of metaphysical truth which no one knows, understands, or can prove then maybe we can start to learn, or start to want to want to learn how to fix our own problems ourselves. God never fixed my toliet before when my work made it overflowith. I seriously doubt that he will intervine in the future...But of course anytime he wants to plunge that plunger he is more than welcome. Until then I will do it myself.

I hear that "Jehovah god" is going to come kill all the little baby's soon. Bull. No he ain't. And that god can go screw itself. Whatever relgion puts the almight as a murdering fiend can kiss my butt. That jw god they say is "Jehovah" well just because they use that name does not make it all holy. It offends me that anyone would use names like Jesus and Jehovah along with the Jehovah Witnesses and then say we all are talking aobut the same diety. HA! The god they worship has about ass much power over any person as Zeus or Baal. Are they the all mighty gods as true as Jehovah? Whatever. Like I said that god "Jehovah" that the jw's worship the ones that write magazines out of New York in the United States. The ones that claim to have talents directed by some higher diety. The men that once said Ray Franz were one of. The man who wrote the book "Crisis of Concience." Where in the book he admits not only is there no insperation but he did not even want to vote the way things went. Therefore these men are doing the opposite of what even some of their concience are telling them. That is what any sane person would run from. Of course I am not claiming that relgion's gods are sane. They are usually just plain mean.

I would (and will) never have any interactions with any God that DEMANDS that I worship him. I do not want my children or my friends to worship me. I want to help them when I can. I see God as at least as good as that. And for me that is enough. I believe that life is as good as we make it. As good as we want to see it. So I work to find contentment where and when I can.(In All Things) I remember Paul talking about this towards the end of his life. Read his life's journies if you dare. Try to imagine that faith that strength that contentment. Just try it. For me it has been pretty cool.
