i am posting this information mainly for new ones just coming out of the borg.
it gives good evidence, that the watchtower lied about wanting a library card from dpi--with the u.n. most everybody on this forum knew about this ages ago.. believe me, the easiest way to find this information, is to type in words for the matching site and then click--go--because i have tried the urls, and several of them just take you right back to the main page of (wikipedia) and then you have to really work at typing in a bunch of other stuff, which gets to be tiresom.. the watchtower society certainly didn't need or want a library card to access any information from this organization---because they started the organization.
known as (aidafrique).
NGO is an anacronym for Non Governmental Organization. Nothing more, nothing less. All incorporated organizations are NGO's if they are private, not affiliated with a governmental entity. There is nothing insidious about the WT being an NGO. Any other agency that the WT creates to further their adjenda of book sales will be termed an NGO as well. What was newsworthy from our standpoint was when they attatched themselves to the UN Department of Public Information DPI.

i haven't posted in a while.
there is good reason for it.
i have been in counseling again.
Thank you Jes for sharing that painful realization. Abused children do not realize that what they are experiencing is abuse. They have always been treated that way. For them it is normal. They have no frame of reference of any other way. It is so very important for the abuse survivors to share these painful memories so that the lurkers can see themselves in the story and know that something is very wrong and get help. Your are a hero Jes. and deeply loved and admired.
You are an amazing person. You did not know me, yet you called me long distance a year ago because you thought that you had hurt my feelings on Silentlambs. Of course my feelings were not hurt. But your thoughfulness impressed me beyond words.
Stay well and continue to gain strength of character. You can only accomplish great things.

Such cannot be done under this legal rule, as the moment a person resigns from the church, the church loses any ability to announce their exclusion.95
Ya Right! There are many who have DA'd themselves by submitting a letter of resignation from said cult. The WT does not fear any lawsuit from the shunning done to those people. They have big gun lawyers who will run right over the fool that trys.
Maybe someday the laws will change.

If they tie in Gen 6:3 with 1914 they can buy themselves another 30 years. If Noah's Generation stretched 120 years the modern day Generation should not think they should be any different. Didn't Jesus say that when it all goes down it would be like Noah's day? I just see it now DON'T LOOK AT THE LIGHT CAROL ANN!!!

back in 1972 the wtb&ts published a new translation of the bible, "the bible in living english", otherwise known as byington's translation.. who was byington?.
the publisher's note tells us that steven t byington was born in 1868 and studied languages at a university and a theological seminary.
he was a member of the congregational church in massachusetts, usa and the translation was almost his lifetime's work.
Before I left for good I tried to obtain a copy at the KH. The literature servant looked at me like I had two heads. He was young. He ordered it but 6 months later I still did not have it and the heat was on. I will never know if it came in.
My thought was that the WT bought the publishing rights to Byington's translation and the Diagalott so that no one else would ever be able to publish them. They made their own interliniar and stopped publishing the Diagalott which was a superior work. IMHO I was never able to get my hands on a Byington translation as I was too poor to afford it at the time it came out. When trying to figure out WT motive look to the most evil sinister possible.

ok, i'm sure this topic has been covered before, but i'm new here, so indulge me.
what do everyone's screen names mean?
some are pretty self-explanatory, but a few have me intrigued.
A loris is a small furry animal. A lemur that lives in SE Asia or in zoos. They are really, really slow. Not in a hurry to go anywhere. Really laid back.
My avatar is Bill The Cat from the old cartoon strip Outland and Bloom County. Bill died in a car crash after a wild cartoon party and was cloned from the only part left at the scene, his tounge. He was never quite the same after that but in spite of his condition he went on to become a folk hero and even ran for president.
There you have it. I am laid back and weird.

perhaps the oddest thing i've looked forward to doing for years is finding and activating my god spot in my brain.
my wish finally came true today.
if anyone reading this isn't aware of what a "god spot" is i would say in a nutshell that it is neurological response to magnetically stimulating the brain where many people feel "god like" experiences and describe either unusual illusions or intense religious feelings.
http://www.the-shrink.info/QQueries_MindEnergy.htm One can ask, ?If the nonmaterial, inner mind or ?soul? governs the material universe (which would include the brain, of course), is there a foci related to its action in a sentient human?s brain? Is there a neural connection or ?gate? that opens to this nonmaterial energy?? This is a difficult question to answer, since much is yet to be done to establish where, or if, such a foci exists or can be located. There are opinions, though, and as you would expect different. This difference in opinion would be expected, however, since the issue of mind, intelligence/consciousness, and other non-materialistic concepts are just now getting more attention. Materialism, with its roots in the scientific approach, isn?t an easy door to break down. Those who think of consciousness (mind) as only a by-product of the brain tend to ignore quantum physics as non-relevant to understanding non-material ideas. Hard-core scientists (orthodox) believe that mental states are identical with brain states, and that all thoughts, feelings and our sense of identity (self) result from, or are generated from, electrochemical activity in the brain; yet, they have no real answer regarding what thoughts, feelings, and ideas of self are. I think of it as compulsive prattle. Often, one sees an old idea embellished in new window dressings, with the claim that the ?new? approach is a break through in understanding the mind. However, examination of the ?new? discloses the same blank walls that were (and have been for years) present before, stopping real answers to questions non-material issues present. I guess it is too difficult to shed the shroud of orthodox scientific objectivity in trying to understand concepts that don?t fit the rules set down by orthodox science. Carl G. Jung said that a synthesis of matter and spirit, conscious and unconscious, bright and dark, and so on will not happen in the realm of present science. He said it would come about in a different science or field, the nature of which is still to be determined. |
The late world renown neurologist, Dr. Wilder Penfield mapped the brain?s physiology during the numerous surgeries he performed on it. He reported that probing in the area of the right temporal lobe triggered a bevy of memories (more like actual ?being-there? engrams). Visions of earlier activities, of relatives and friends who died, even God were experienced by some of his patients resulting from his probing in the temporal lobe area. Of course, you?ll get an immediate response from hard-line scientists that, because probing this area brought such results, it is proof that spirituality, even the soul, is hardwired in the brain, that we are born with this, and that it has nothing to do with non-local energy. I don?t think so. |
Just a little something to ponder

in your thread "why i believe life has a purpose" you suggested to someone that they do a search on the web of quantum theory, schrodinger's cat, etc.
well i have been reading a lot lately on quantum physics and such so i did what you suggested.
i found a fantastic place.

The fellow William S. Arnott is a ph.d, psychologist, christian and has an interest in quantum mechanics.
he manages to weave all of the above into a fantastic combination to promote the healing of the mind, body and spirit.
Thank you very much

i posed this question to my family ................. i said : "you all accept the "new light" and new explanations, fine so be it, but let me ask you this, does the watchtower not owe an explanation to all those that went to their grave beleiving that the generation of 1914 would not pass away.
i compare it to a drunk driver driving home, loses control hits a car and kills 5 people, he didn't mean to do it, it was an accident, well sorry, doesn't cut it, for the families that lost loved ones does it, and it turn the watchtower changing their ideas does not cut it for all those who have passed on, if we could line up all the faithful jw's that died, and tell them 1914 was wrong or changed, what do you thik they would say.".
of course i got no response, they too will go to their grave defending the wacthtower.. any thoughts, hope i am making sense, it's late.
They are ok. They are dead. They are in the same boat with all those catholics who ate meat on Friday before the big change. Dead is dead. If and when there is a resurrection they will get the real truth about the mixed up mess called religion.
It is the living, who as has been said, don't seem to notice change no matter what the stripe. They are conditioned to expect change. It is business as usual.
