Tradition has it that Moses compiled the book of Genesis from earlier histories either oral or written. There is one theory that says that the reason Genesis repeats the stories is that each one is from a different source.

is the story of adam and eve first introduced in the bible..or before the bible
in the late 1920's a syrian farmer plowing a field on a hill turned up a strange clay tablet.
a french archaeological team went to investigate.

this is the short argument against the watchtower interpretation of babylon the great.
(btg) .
) the watchtower claims that babylon the great is the world empire of false religion (wefr).
Proplog2
So what, you are a false prophet. I enjoy playing "what-if" myself. I see your point of the US being a good candidate for BTG. The fact that Daniel tells of the disappearance of the King of the South adds weight to it.
If the cryptic prophecies were not in the Bible then we would not be tempted to put the pieces of the puzzle together. At least Proplog2 is not claiming divine inspiration or special channel status. Wild speculation can be fun. in the proper persrective.

...cried through a meeting and, if so, what were the reasons?.
i cried through a lot of meetings at my second congregation while i was still in good standing.
i couldn't stop myself; i'd just cry quietly.
No panic/anxiety attacks at the KH. I would have to force myself to go to meetings. The dread of leaving the house made me think I was developing that Agoraphobia condition. I was sort of ok at the KH as long as no one expected me to say Hi. Not too many there spoke to me. I wasn't in the inner circle. Going out in service was a nightmare. I made sure I went with a sister who knew that I was likely to freeze at the door. She would take over as I stood there thinking I was going to pass out. Needless to say I was not too regular.
Funny thing now I go places and speak to total strangers without the slightest fear.
I am not the life of the party but I don't feel like crawling in a hole now.

[previously incorrectly posted under friends, so i've moved it here.
edited to add: whoops, i can't delete the old one...simon??
the wt admits that jesus was king as far back as the year 33 c.e., but he supposedly didn't do much while just sitting on a throne at god's right hand and ruling god's "kingdom of the son of his love" (col 1:13).
And when you have read these historic masterpieces could we have a book report? Those of us that are not as privileged as you would love to get a feel of what Jesus read that caused him to convey such an honor on that obscure little bunch of Bible Students (TM)
Waiting breathlessly.

i am new here and i usually dont come to these type of places as they are rampant with apostates.
i still belive in most of the teachings but its the people in the org.
that have turned me away.. the reason that i am posting though is this, i have been inactive for a few months now but i have been holding out telling my parents, friends etc.
This study group is a collection of mostly really nice people
Pistoff , I miss the really nice people in my book study group. I quit before we finished Volume I We had cake, cookies, ice cream and soda once a month. It was called goody night. The association after the mind numbing study was the best.
lost¬found - welcome - we are not lost as some would have you believe. We have found peace
Love and peace,

i just got a call from my baby brother.
they will be announcing that he has been df'd tonight at the hall.
he was crying, he has told me that the rest of the family has already started to shun him.
So sorry for your pain. Sometimes the only time a person will listen is when it touches them personally. To throw the UN or 1914 controversy at some people will only hit a wall, but introduce a subject that touches them will get a crack going in the wall. Search this site for good sound scriptural reasoning on the whole disfellowshipping/ breaking up families thing. Gently offer these nuggets of genuine truth to your family. Keep the conversations as calm as possible. There is a small window of opportunity to reach them at this time. If you wait they will revert back to mind numbing zombie mode.
Take care of hubby and baby. Peace to you and yours,
Loris
please help me find a post.. the other day a poster related an experience about how she was told that she was not allowed to sit with another person who was also disfellowshiped.
i have been trying to find that post so i can show it to my wife.
can someone help me find it?
Years ago I was DF'd and trying to get back in (how stupid is that) I met another DF'd person through my daughter. My daughter was in the same class at school with her son. I made the first contact with the DF'd mom and found out that she had three kids, no car and the elders had told her that she had to find her own way to the hall. I offered to give her a ride. That meant two women and eight kids packed in my station wagon but we did it three times a week. We did not sit together at the hall. But of course the elders put a stop to it. I was told that if I ever intended to get reinstated I had to stop associating with that person. I was ordered to stop providing her with a ride to the hall. Fortunately we had found her an old car that she could buy soon after. We could have become good friends but NO. Like it has been said DF'd persons are expected to have no human contact at all. If it wasn't for my children I would have been totally lost. I saw her at a convention a year later. I overheard her daughter ask if I was reinstated. She whispered, "I don't know." and walked away. The fear was still there. so sad.

hello everyone, i was just wondering if any of you have thought of this.
it makes me angry sometimes.
i am a grown child with an aging parent.
I have seen one congregation provide for an elderly sister who had no family. she had never married. They put her in a nursing home and picked up the remainder of the bill after medicaid and assigned various ones to pick her up for the meeting, etc. until she died. But that is rare.
Now I face retirement (I'll be 56 next month). I have made very little preparations for that. I was not going to get old 37 years ago when I got into the WTS quagmire. There are millions now living who will never retire. We can not afford to retire! We will be working in McDonalds when we are 75 and 80 because we are still living and need to eat.
I wonder if we could have a class action lawsuit for that? Hmmm

dear all,.
would you share any general feedback about the cities you live in?
like economy, crime rate, housing, ect.
Come on down! I hear Pensacola is a nice place to live. I live in Tampa. I miss the mountains but we can't have everything. The people in Tampa are from all over the place. Which means it is a mixture of cultures. You can enjoy the best of them all. People here are pretty tolerant of each other. Crime does exist of course but I do not live in fear of it. While I was a JW I was stuck trying to raise six kids alone in a very poor neighborhood in Tampa. We did not have a/c which meant that the windows had to stay open day and night. The doors usually were left open also. I can't remember if there were locks on the doors. Nobody bothered to lock them. The people in the neighborhood looked out for each other. I remember one day a first grader who lived around the corner from me did not return home on time from school. The neighborhood was out in force knocking on every door on the way to the school looking for her. She had stopped off at a park on the way home. We were all poor but it was a really good place for my kids to grow up.
The economy here is still strong. I have a good job and live in a nice neighborhood. There are scary places as are in all cities but we just don't go there. They are small areas which the city is trying to recover. I like that the city does not close it's eyes to decay and poverty. It really trys to fix things.
Here's hoping that you find success in your move.

i've seen the reproductions of evidence in the ngo story.. let's say i was to discuss this matter with a local friendly elder.
i imagine that the following criticisms would ensue:.
1) that is not a real letter sent by the society (saying it was just for a library card, or as the version from portugal said, to gain favor in certain nations).. 2) the reply from the librarian at the un saying that becoming an ngo is not a requirement for a library pass is not real.. my main concern is with the latter.
The denial factor is very high. When I presented the documentation to the two elders who visited me they did not dispute the authenticity of the information. They were in a word speachless. A few days later when I got the phone call requesting a followup visit the PO had the gall to say, "We just can't say why Jehovah would have the society do that. We will just have to accept that He had good reasons for it. We are not in a position to question Jehovah on such matters." There is a hundred excuses that they can come up with for not seeing that the WTS is full of crap.
