Personally I think it sounds like a lot of work. Can I just go back to bed instead?
behind all the details in the bible lies the absolute truth: love is the true religion.
(james 1:27) [conversely, self-serving is false religion.colossians 3:5] that means god is not a factor in the true worship.
(habakkuk 2:4) his attitude is that if you are good, it is good for you; and if you do bad, it is bad for you.

i was raised a jw and i am still one but recently i have been having trouble believing in a god.
this is not meant to offend anyone who does, i am just curious to see if i am the only one who thinks this..... to start, i am a very black and white person.
if 1+1=2 it makes sense to me and i can agree with it.
You raise some good points, but if I may offer a little pushback I'd like to point out that I think you're looking at religion through a very JW framework. Very few of the 'religions' (really, denominations) that have been built around the bible insist anywhere as close as dogmatically as the JWs that you must agree with them on every point in order to be saved.
There's no logic behind it which is why you'll find few people think that way outside of the JWs.
Edit: And welcome to the board. :)
apologies for being so thick.i haven't been to one since 2004!!
!.
Monday April 14th. Are you going Quelly?
to answer my question, no i do not pray over meals anymore exept for when i am with other jws i do a 15 second head bow for appearances sake.
i just came to the realization god had nothing to do with whether i ate or not.
many believers are starving right now whilst many non-believers are eating like kings.. also why should god give me food while he lets little children in dprk concentration camps starve to death.
Nothing wrong with a bit of gratitude, but to be honest I don't make a habit of it, but never did much as a JW either.

My Dad sacrificed for the Watchtower Society. No pension for him, since he'd never reach retirement. He's 61 now, good work Watchtower!
following on from jgnat's post, if that's okay.why do i not hear of satan in normal churches?
?it's really refreshing not to be scared anymore..
5 different churches or 5 services in one church? Just as a warning (to prepare you for disappointment) you probably will hear about him eventually.
a story from my days as the accounts servant (not verbatim).
me: hello, [brother] here's your copy of the money slip for this meeting, i just finished the count.. cong.
secretary: thanks... who counter signed that there?.
When I was in my early 20s and an MS I was assigned to a group with one other male, the elder who took the group but used to suffer from back problems so often missed, this meant I had to take it usually with a group of women in their 50s and 60s and had far more experience than me in the ministry.
The elders wife had been a Witness 60 years and even served as a missionary in Northern Ireland during the war at risk to her life, and I had to lead her on the ministry! I found it completely embarrassing.

i am so apalled i cannot even begin to describe it!.
Why does that elder keep smiling!? Lunatic!

I wish I'd had you around Justitia, that job did my head in!
I complained about it to an elder once; he told me that one of the big "secrets" in the organization is that sisters handled most of their husband's spritual responsibilities.
I knew a PO who got taken off by the CO because he allowed his wife to handle a lot of his work. The same wife also typed up the theocratic ministry school for the School overseer. Not come up with the schedule, just type it up from his handwritten one for use on the noticeboard because he couldn't use a computer, she got stopped from that job too and I ended up with it.
Apparently girls can't type either.
