Good to see the Royals improve! It is a shame the timing to watch this is not good for me.
I was in Cali last week, chose the wrong week maybe...

i really don't understand the concept of forgiveness .
lately in my life several people have thrown that term around so easily ,and i am confused .
is it because we were taught to cut people off so easily as jws that i find it hard to forgive ?.
I think it's important not to seek retribution against people who have hurt you. I am upset at my former JW friends for shunning me for example but I wouldn't take any glee in them facing the same shunning were they to somehow rebel, and I would welcome them back in my life if they wanted me back. My forgiveness however doesn't extend to me going back to the JWs and pretending nothing is wrong.
hi everyone!
today i was reminded that just because both of us left the wtbt$ we are not always on the same page.. .
.
Mrs Phizzy, as with many of the Female persuasion, approaches most things on an emotional level, how she feelsabout it.
Oh dear.

I know very little about baseball, but I hope the Royals will manage to win!
how many times did we hear that if we dont attend meetings we will leave the truth because satan will get ahold of us?
that always bothered me.
i thought, "if my faith isn't able to stand alone what good is it?
How else are they going to get you to those meetings? They're so dull...
this is my first post here.. i was raised in "the truth", and am an ex-bethelite who worked in brooklyn for several years back in the 90's.
a few years after i left bethel, i started to become disillusioned after doing research about the society and reading crisis of conscience (i know..i wasn't supposed to do that lol).
i eventually stopped attending meetings and going out in service.
Hi I'm_free, welcome to the forum! I am not an atheist and I agree with much of what you say but I think it's a bit unfair to imply people abandoned god because of the way JWs misrepresented god, it might be somewhat true in some cases, but certainly not all and it's impossible to make that judgement anyway. I am not sure if you meant this but it's just how it came across... Looking forward to getting to know you better!
are you an angry atheist?.
personally i wish i could say anger is to strong a word, but from my point of view :-.
a)i am angry that religion teaches children to hate " worldly people" at least that was my experience ad a j.w.
You seem just about the least angry poster on the forum new hope, you are a delight.
just got an email from elder sharing illustration from assembly.
the holy spirit does not seem to be in control as it supposedly was in the 1st century.
it's just lube now.
when i left the wt organization, i continued to believe in the bible, so i wanted to confirm and refine, as much as possible, my faith that the true god is in the bible.
so i began to discuss with skilled christians, who were also ex-witnesses.
but i was surprised when some of them tried to relax my fundamentalist position on the literalness of the genesis account.
The eastern orthodox church has never believed in the doctrine of 'original sin'

11 haters of god and his people are to be hated, but this does not mean that we will take any opportunity of bringing physical hurt to them in a spirit of malice or spite, for both malice and spite belong to the devil, whereas pure hatred does not.
we must hate in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest.
Terry, great post, sometimes I think 'love your enemies' might be the most ignored statement in the bible!
