in the 16th century a catholic monk made the word Jehovah.......In ex. 3:14 God tells Moses...."I AM WHO I AM." In Malachi 3:1, we see that God's name was ADON. That's the Almighty's personal name, but at the same time it's reference in Malachi, is refering to Christ, also.

Can true Christianity have some false prophets and still be true Christians
by booker-t ini know this sounds like a "totally" stupid question and i don't mean to offend religious people but i was talking to two jw's elders the other day at my apartment.
they came by even though they know i am disassocated and don't want to go back to the wt.
they think they can convince me that they are the truth and i would go back.

Deuteronony 18:20 tells us that if there is a false prophet he will die....and in Deut. 18:21-22 says that if the prophet speaks on God's behalf and it never happens, he or she is a false prophet....
So in other words false prophets were killed or you run from her or him. If a false prophet is found get rid of him or her....There should not be any false prophets among you.

Should I get the New Jerusalem Bible?
by inquirer ini've already got the other catholic bible new american bible.
i've always thought it was a rather good translation, but unhappy at the verse order -- in job some verses have been taken out completely and only used in the footnotes!
this has really got me down, because it's not just in job but they have taken this course in isaiah, habakkuk and many other "minor prophet" books.

Go ahead and purchase it. It's basically justas good as most I have many NWTHS, because it shows the errors every where.
The NWTHS, according to scholars and myself is the most corrupt ever. And according to Scripture, "knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation."(1 Peter 1:20)
So the watchtower has their own interpretation, which only they know of.

Former Bible Study Wants to Talk...
by tall penguin inokay, here's the update.
i sent an email to my former bible study after a phone conversation we had where i told her i'd disassociated myself.
in the email, i included information about the shunning practice (which she had no idea about).

Tell them why you're leaving and give scripture and grounds. And if they insist on continue, let them go.
If you get up set every time someone challenges you, let them get angry. Even Christ had enemies..ask the Apostles..fear should not be in our hearts to stand up for the real truth comes forward. And be at peace with yourself..I'm sure Christ will understand.
Never be ashamed of the truth of Christ and the Gospel.

That's the point..Why is it some where else? As for the word, "jehovah," a 15th century monk, catholic at it's best, created the word. And what else has the Vatican doesn't want many too see and read?

Hi everyone I am new here
by acuragirl in.
this is a new thread started from the one my husband left yesterday............ hi everyone, this is gringojjs wife.i thankyou all for your comments and your help, really makes me feel better about my situation especially since i see that most of what im going through alot of you have been through the exact same thing.it makes me realize im not the only one and that i can get through this tough time like most of you have.i can really identify with the poster who made the comments about being scared after leaving, not realizing if it was the right decision or not.i am really scared of armagedon,of invisible wicked forces the wts teaches you to turn away from, just like the poster i watched a horror film a couple nights ago and it was about demonism,i was extremely scared i was going to be bothered by the demons for getting involved in watching those kinds of movies.its ridiculus how scared i was, just believing in satan and his demons, and what they could or could not do.something my husband doesnt really understand because he doesnt believe in satan or jehovah or a god at all,but when you do believe its scary to think you are upseting god or on the side of satan.i dont know where i am at right now i do know that im confused, the witnesses coming to the door, halloween coming up......which btw i celebrated last year but my concience is really doing me in this time.........i dont know what to do with the kids !
do they celebrate do they not?i dont know, when the time comes mabe i will but i know one thing i have to make a choice, for my husbands sake, for my sanity, and for our children.i am glad i have people to share my pain and suffering with,my mother says i dont want to suffer at all because im afraid of losing my husband if i become baptized, she says thats what you have to do for the truth....suffer....im not going to be happy suffering through life and for what?mabe nothing.i am not afraid of losing my husband i am afraid of dissapointing my mom but im not going to stay in a religon that makes me totally screwed up in the head.i used to have panic attacks when i was attending meetings i havent had one since not attending,i still have exterme anxiety from worry and fear but no panic attacks....hm....go figure!last thing, the other day a born again christian approched me by my local post office and asked me if i was interested in attending his church.i simply told him no thankyou my children are already screwed up enough from the jws.

People who are mad at jw's. Should be mad at the bible?
by What_is_ur_point inthe bible is a serious book.. and the bible is a set of instructions set before mankind.
i believe being disfellowshipped the second time here makes me feel upset.
it would make anyone hurt frustrated or mad.

And just one more htought...it's through scripture we come to know Christ.....and Christ is who I lay my faith in...not man

Why be mad at JWs? Why be mad at the Bible? Those who get direction from Bethel never really get direction from the Bible.
Watchtower says salvation is through them.........
Salvation by Christ is different then WT salvation....................
km 11/90 Page . 1 Directing Bible Students to Jehovah's Organization
1 Bible students need to get acquainted with the organization of the "one flock" Jesus spoke about at John 10:16. They must appreciate that identifying themselves with Jehovah's organization is essential to their salvation. (Rev. 7:9, 10, 15) Therefore, we should start directing our Bible students to the organization as soon as a Bible study is established.
One needn't need an organization..........
Watchtower 9/15/1993 Page. 22
They Compassionately Shepherd the Little Sheep
(4) Like sheep that get injured, some Christians have been hurt by what they perceive to be offensive conduct. Yet, if we are forgiving toward others, our heavenly Father will grant us needed forgiveness. (Colossians 3:12-14; 1 Peter 4:8) Some brothers or sisters may have received counsel or discipline that they felt was unjust. However, all of us can benefit from spiritual counsel and discipline, and it is comforting to know that Jehovah disciplines those for whom he has love. (Hebrews 12:4-11) Because they have not been given privileges of service for which they feel qualified, others have allowed resentment to create a rift between them and the congregation. But if we were to draw away from Jehovah's organization, there would be no place else to go for salvation and true joy.
There's always Christ to go too............
The Watchtower says:
"show our respect for Jehovah's organization, for she is our mother and the beloved wife of our heavenly Father, Jehovah God." (The Watchtower - May 1, 1957)
"Put faith in a victorious organization." (The Watchtower - March 1, 1979)
"come to Jehovah's organization for salvation." (The Watchtower - November 15, 1981)
"...stay by the faithful organization. How else can one get Jehovah's favor and blessing." (The Watchtower - July 15, 1996)
"gratitude for each and every blessing that we undeservedly receive from Jehovah and his organization." (The Watchtower - February 15, 1997
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Neither is there salvation in any other;for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved."(Acts 4:12}
"Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name,That are the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven, and things in the earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father."(Philippians 2:9-11)
Romans 10:8-12,is good too.So the Watchtower has no authority to save..................
So you see..it's the watchtower that requires you to follow them not Christ.

Do we have the holy spirit?
by coolhandluke inthis question arose from an argument with a friend of mine who is still in.
do apostates have the holy spirt?.
um, i dunno.
-
RevFrank
CoolHandLuke:...worry not, "But you are not in hte flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells within you.Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His." (Romans 8:9)
So basically speaking, if the Holy Spirit is not within you, you're lost.
And just another note..."There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Jesus Christ, who do not walk according to the flesh, but accoring to the Spirit."(Romans 8:1.....)
