My thoughts for the new year....
by kelsey007 inafter just over a year on ex-jw boards i hope that we all are able to step back for a while and gain a better view of where we individually are in our lives.
the more involved i get- the more frequent my visits are here the harder it is to keep things in balance and in perspective.
it reminds me of the constant meetings, bible (jw lit) studies and field service while a jw.

Great post.
By showing how much it all bothers us it shows how much it is still in our heads.

Help for a friend
by Happy ini am not a witness, and i have never been one, but i have a very close friend who is a witness, and have done a lot of reading about the wt and i am well aware of the many evils of their teachings.
but i am not posting to insult the boys in brooklyn.
my friend that i mentioned earlier is currently a witness, and i am wondering if anybody has any idea how i can help her deal with her situation.

This is difficult. I've got the same problem with my sister.
I brought up the BBC show where they talked about the database of 20,000 + child abusers and she just said that it wasn't true.

Millions now living, expect to be DA'd
by cyberguy innew strategy to da/df millions who have left.
i'm wondering if there isn't a new policy of da'ing all those who no longer attend or are inactive "publishers" (find that in the bible!).
i've read a number of threads on this board whereby people are now being hunted-down, nazi-fashion, if when queried, "are you one of jw?

Jehovah's Witnesses Should Show An Identity Card
by minimus ini went to the public talk given by the c.o.
and the whole theme was that jw's should wear an identity card so that everyone would know who they were.we should feel happy that by our merely voicing our position as jw's, that everyone knows what we are and who we stand for.
we should be happy to make a stand and sit down for the flag salute, to show we won't worship it.

I like how you now need to get an identity card every 12 months so you can easily be out of date.

DA'd or DF'd -- why more being DA'd
by cyberguy infrom a number of posts on this board it appears that many are being da'd vs. df'd!
is it for legal reasons, from the watchtower's perspective?
anyway, when a person is da'd, they usually don't get an opportunity to defend their position.

What happens if you get the automatic diassociation for breaking one of the rules, but then the rule changes, do you then become re-instated?
During our lifetimes the law will make religions like the witnesses impossible to operate legally, so everything will become a conscience issue. Like hemaglobins and military service.

Do you still expect to live eternally?
by JH insince leaving the watchtower, do you still believe that you will live forever, here on earth?
some might think that heaven is the final destiny, while other may just believe in this short life and nothing else.
what is your belief and how does it affect your daily life?

Was just thinking about it tonite actually.
I just don't know really, no-one does, thats why most people live in fear.
If you want simple answers we know who will provide those.
Gotta admit the 'life everylasting at last' song was kinda catchy.

I know how they do it!
by spec in.
alright it has only taken me 25 years but i have worked out how they get you to believe.. in all the publications they always present both sides of the story in a logical and often scientific way.
this makes you feel that you don't have to research further because you already know the other side.. the truth is they don't have the truth.

Is Warning re Possible Lawsuit Required?
by Scully inthis is just a general question for anyone who might have some legal background on the matter.. if (and i expect there will be) an announcement is made to our former congregation that we are "disassociated", can i just go ahead and sue them (individual elders in the congregation) for slander and defamation of character?
the decision to make the announcement is one that has to go through the body of elders, right??.
is it necessary, when the elders come calling, to say "i will sue the shirt off your back and the bloomers off your @$$ if you make any announcement that slanders my name or defames my character to anyone"??

Olin Moyle did. He sued Rutherford for exactly that. I think received about $15,000 and the award was given after Rutherford died of &asshole cancer.
I didn't see that in a watchtower.
