After my parents split up, elders told my mum she wasn't to let my non-JW dad see us! She did though.

I've been a vegetarian since I was 11.
I've never known a veggie JW. I was talking about vegetarianism with an elder and a fairly-recent convert on Friday and both of them were stunned and said "But Jehovah has allowed us to eat animals!" like I was selfishly rejecting Jehovah's loving kindness by not eating hunks of flesh chopped from a dead thing.
I pointed out that I can definitely say that I don't EAT any blood at all - and they can't. They looked dead offended...

Weird Childhood Thoughts
by pettygrudger inwhen i was growing up, i used to think that as long as they made fuzzy loving commercials (i.e.
the faygo one was my favorite & coke second) that the trib & big-a couldn't possibly come!!!
i also used to plan how i would hoard food & water in holes in my backyard that we wouldn't have to eat all the icky mice & insects my mom said we would have to live on.

A cute one to start with: ; When I was verrrrry little mum told me ladybirds (ladybugs) are ;living creatures and I had to be very careful with them. I also knew *Jehovah* was a "spirit creature"... Jehovah is a giant ladybird! It's obvious!
I was scared that when the great tribulation came that I'd have to kill my mum. The first time we studied the Revelation book the bookstudy conductor told me that at sometime in the past children were forced to light the fire when their parents were burned at the stake and that if believers in false religion were persecuted in that way, then things would surely be even worse for us.
I was always scared to go in the sea on my own because I thought that the Wild Beast was going to jump out at me. Not scared of Jaws or sea monsters, my dad used to let us watch any horror film an we knew from being tiny that it was just "kid-on" as he called it, but I was absolutely terrified of a drawing in a book by a "*loving organisation*" and *that* wasn't "kid-on" it was the absolute truth...

Would You Now Feel Uncomfortable Taking Blood?
by minimus innow that you know about the truth of the blood doctrine, would you feel, even a little bit uncomfortable agreeing to take a blood transfusion?
btw, my mother asked me if i would still honor her wishes for refusal of blood.
i told her that even though my view has changed, i would respect her decision, even if i felt that it was wrong.

When my friend was 16 she got a tattoo (Winnie the Pooh - cute as anything!) and needed her mum to come and give consent because she wasn't 18 and her mum (who does look after her, honest!) decided to get one too and she's got 3 now and she was about 44 or something then.
What are you going to get?

How do you define evil?
by kenpodragon inhow do you define evil?
is evil what you are told is evil or is it a personal matter that you decide for yourself?.
i ask, as many people will say something is evil.

If any person or government intentionally acts in a way that hurts or damages a person or thing and does so with malice and/or is pleased/apathetic that it meant people or things got hurt, then that's evil.
So I'd say somebody who tortures and kills an animal is evil, but somebody putting an animal to sleep isn't. (D'uh) (I was going to use murder and euthanasia as an example but I didn't want to offend anyone)
I don't think I'd say something was evil or I hated something just because I was told to. I hope not anyway.

Xander - Obviously I was *going to*! I only realised when I got home and was absolutely mortified at first then saw the funny side!
Was in a bit of a rush that evening - got changed in the bathroom but forgot to bring undies or tights in, then the second I was dressed the taxi came and I forgot all about them!
