I remember being around 7 and looking around the hall during the meeting and just thinking "I can't believe all these people believe in Jehovah like I do" - I just couldn't comprehend it, it was as if we were just coincidentally all in the same room.

What was your first Apostasy?
by Dune ini'm re-reading 1984 and the similarities between the wtbs and the "party" astound me, but anyway, it made me think of the time when i started to get doubts (thoughtcrime).. i remember once at this book study a sister commented about the 1914 and was reciting it's historical accuracy.
anyway, she went on to mention that the demons were probably learning everything about biblical prophecies from the wtbs.
i was 13 at the time but the comment made me cringe, i was thinking "why would superior beings need humans to interpret the bible for them?

WT copyright violation, using others' music as Kingdom Melodies??
by rebel8 indoes anyone remember being taught that the wts got into trouble way back when for using someone else's music w/o permission?
i swear i remember reading or hearing from the platform their excuse that they didn't remember the melody was used by someone else and it was an honest mistake.
something about them using parts of some other church's hymns in the kingdom melodies....something like, "a musician hears many songs and doesn't memorize them all.

Thought I Was Out Of The Woods
by DocHayes inwell today i was having lunch with my mother, who is inactive, and hasn't been to the hall in a couple of years.
recently she's been hounded by the elders, because of all of the christmas decorations.
even though she hasn't disassociated herself, and she won't because she doesn't want to alienate herself from her family, she attends another church.

When I was 12 or so there was some sort of Cult Advisory Service featured on a daytime chat show (eith holidays or I was wagging school!) - and I called the number, being a good little dub I was going to "witness" to the person on the phone if they told me JWs were a cult.
The woman said to be a cult the group had to be under 100 years old, so JWs weren't a cult. That would also make Scientology "not a cult" by that reckoning!
I believe the JWs are a cult - people don't have to live in a compound, kill themselves or go out and kill others for it to be a cult: that's like saying you're not ill unless you've got cancer. -

by stillajwexelder ini have heard quite a few witnesses when confronted with "you are brain-washed" merely reply " well in satans world, my brain was so bad it needed washing, so i am glad i got brain-washed" - difficult when one is confronted with an attitude like that

I had Internet access years before I searched online for anything JW-related, and I was already 99% out when I did.
I'd run into JWs (and also defended the JWs) on other forums, but I actually never *occured* to me that there would be anti-JW websites , let alone that those anti-JW websites would contain the truth. -

You can't read books in the shower and the bath is where I get the majority of my reading done (leading to shelves full of "wavy" books!). -
