new public edition of the WT
by loosie inok i have about 4 friends who don't know that i am out of the org.
because there is 3000 miles between us and the subject has not come up.. well one of them has emailed me a jpg copy of each page of the public edition of the wt.. i was feeling a little ornery, and i replied back.
i said wow having a private copy and then a public copy of the wt makes me feel like a secret agent.

Bethel wifeswapping phenomenon
by veen inso i've got some friends who are international construction volunteers, and have spent the last few years traveling to different bethels around the world.
i was talking to one of them in the pub on the weekend, and she said that they have separate saunas for men and women in all the bethels because every bethel she's been to has had a problem with wifeswapping taking place in them.. .
how mental is that!

by RULES & REGULATIONS inthere are 2 elders in my cousins congregation who are partners in a construction business.
they buy land,build huge homes,live there,and sell 2 years later.
one of them sold his home last year for $860,000 .

I know of a JW lady right now whose husband left her with three kids high and dry. This lady literally does not know how she's going to feed herself and her kids from one day to the next and is working a part-time cash register job. She had an opportunity to get a better job, with better hours, closer to home, but refused because of a comment made by the hiring authority of people always asking for specific days off every week. There was no question that the hiring authority was talking about all the JW in her employ she has to schedule everyone else around. This lady chose to stay put and suffer rather than risk having her meetings interrupted. I was floored. The local JWs, while eating this up as an example of how to stay loyal, are standing by silently while she continues to lose weight and her phone service is cut off. But, she's making those meetings...... It's a sure bet that with winter setting in, her utilities are sure to follow. But, as long as she makes those meetings......

An update

i was the one who kept begging her jw boyfriend to take her back after every breakup.
i came back in here the other night to read some of my past posts and replies, basically to keep myself from calling him.. i moved back to my home state this summer and am teaching here and spending tons of time with my family.

Mr. Flipper's Son Gets 3rd response from Witness Mother - Your Advice ?

you will notice in reading the 1st paragraph of this response , i believe the first half of the 1st paragraph is a quote from some watchtower publications or something to prove god's existence , then after in the second paragraph she gets down and dirty trying to " convert " my son back.
so here it is, see what you think , and would love to hear your takes and advice.

DO NOT ENGAGE THEM in any discussion. As soon as you do, they believe they are winning. No discussion, they are lost, because without that discussion, there is nothing left except a black hole.
Conclusion, never discuss the issues of the Witnesses-that's all they have in their lives. Simply discontinue this waste of time.
Lately, this is the tact I've taken with my JW wife.
I'm sure that she doesn't understand why when she talks about her latest d2d exploits or how the "friends" have done this or that that I have nothing to say pro or con. I know all she's looking for is affirmation and in rare cases it is due, but when there is no affirmation, what I have to say is met with the draw-bridge being let up and seperation by a crocodile infested moat.
Occasionally she tries to entice me into reading some article she finds particularly interesting, but, when I show no signs of wanting to read it or finding it interesting, after a bit of silence she gets the point.

there is so much hype about the motels that are on the list, which will come out right around jan 1. you are supposed to call ahead, and usually people get busy signals and full motels.

it is an artcicle about a 14 year old witness boy with leukemia who died because of refusing a blood transfusion.
doctors said he would have had a 70 % chance of surviving to live a normal life if he had accepted blood.

I pointed out this accounting fallacy to my wife during a recent assembly in Texas rosenburg. When they read the accounts, they had a $4000 surplus from last year, They announced expenses of about $19000 for a venue that's supposedly already paid for, donations of $8000. Then they proclaimed that they had an $11000 deficit and thanked everyone for their support. There was a collective ghast from the audience. I simply looked at my wife and proclaimed loudly enough for everyone to hear that their numbers weren't adding up. All I got for my troubles was that it was likely that the brother made a mistake and that it would be corrected.
