First of all I would like to thank everyone here who has been of help to me. Sharing you experiences has been a source of therapy for me. I have noticed that they are many active posters on this site who ae not df or da but are inactive in the org. They have been here for quite awhile and yet still go to the meetings at the hall. You show your distaste for the wts and the organization as a whole. If you no longer have love for the organization what is prompting you to get in your car and drive to a meeting or two a week? Isn't that leading a double life? When do you make that pivotal decision that you are leaving the org for good? Is it fear that is holding you back? I am so curious.

How Screwed Up Are You Because You Were A Jehovah's Witness???
by minimus inafter reading so many experiences about how being a jw affected a person's life, i wonder how your life has turned out because you were at one time a witness.

I found out when I left that I really did know how to fit in with society as a whole, mainly because I did not have much life experience living in the real world. Growing up a jehovahs witness I lead I really sheltered life. As you all know we are told to only associate with other jws. "Worldy Associates" are off limits. My whole life was consumed with meetings, field service, and studying. I had no real life and missed out on many firsts. Like this morning I was reflecting on all the things I missed out on. Ever year around this time I think about how I missed out on my senior prom even though I really wanted to go. Never played school sports even though I was a very athletic individual and had skills when it came to playing basketball and track. Never had a real relationship with a person of the opposite sex until I turned 24 and subsequently left the truth. It simply is not normal to live a life of a jw. Thankfully I had enough sense to know when I was still in the org. I needed to go to college to acquire some marketable skills. If not I would probably be washing windows. I was never srewed up I was simply disillusioned.

You Should Feel Guilty If You Don't Pioneer Even If You're Retired or Young
by minimus inper the june km, if you just got out of school and are young and decide to get a great paying job, you should feel guilty.
and if after you finally can relax a little and enjoy retirement in the last few years of your life, you are expected to pioneer as soon as possible.
the articles were designed to produce major guilt in any that might want to do otherwise.

I am obsessed with clean teeth and breath so for what seems like forever I brush my teeth after I eat anything. Most days I brush my teeth on an average of 10 times. Btw I have the most whitest teeth you will ever see.
JH you have a serious car fetish

Have You Recieved Any Benefit From This Web Site???
by minimus inare you happier since you've found this place?
if jwd were gone tomorrow, would you just look for another site to get involved with?
my opinion of this board is that it is one of the best boards to learn current information from.

If anything I have cried some tears and smiled. It's good to know that many of you experienced many of the same things I did when I was in the org. Its good to know I was never really alone! and that I am very normal. Thank YOU. My only regret is that I did not find this site sooner.

Being asked to accompany sisters on studies who had roaches and mice in their apartment. Always remembering to bring a head covering when conducting a study in the company of a brother. Feeling the pressure to get my hand up multiple times during the watchtower study.

A friend of a friend's father who was an elder at the time was charged with embezzeling money from a chain of local daycares. The whole thing got kinda of nasty. When the media found out he was a jw they had a fields day with him!

Returning 20 years of JW books to KH need opinions
by SpunkyChick inmy mom and i have been cleaning out the basement and gathered over 20 years worth of jw books, magazines, tracts (some dating from the 1950's!).
we are playing with the idea to return the jw material in a box, with the words "we quit" and a xeroxed copy of the cover coc next sunday morning in front of the local kh.
does anyone have any better/more sarcastic ideas?

I am in a similar situation. I still have very old publications and bound volumes galore. I wouldn't give any congregation the satisfaction of knowing I would give these back to them for free. True I don't use them anymore, but something tells me that they are worth something. Its a part of my past, so I will always keep them.
