He would have been delighted to grace your home for a 'meal'!

third post about the big disappointments that woke me up.
i'm writing them in no particular order.
these episodes made me bitter when they happened.

i was twenty years old.. as a jehovah's witness, i had no career path ahead of me, no college to attend, and no prospect for my future other than.
knocking on people's doors and scanning the horizon for signs of armageddon:).
i was engaged to a 17-year-old witness girl i had met at the mineral wells assembly.. what was our future together?
Hi Terry,
I can relate to your life experience. Although I didn't get prison time, I was sentenced to 2 years of 'civilian duty' working in a hospital back in 1968 followed by 3 years on probation. At the time, I was so proud of my stance but I have to admit I was also somewhat relieved that I didn't got to prison. I was newly married, less than a year. I knew of at least 4 young married brothers that were sent to Safford, Arizona prison for 18 months. At first, it was sort of 'fun and games' for their young wives to go and visit their incarcerated young husbands that had been so unjustly jailed by 'satans system of things'. It didn't take long before these 'poor' young wives found comfort in the arms of another man, some of the 'other men' were jw's. Who knows, if I had been sent to prison would I still be married to my wife of 48 years?

The latest on developments at the Mormon Conference, held twice a year to give guidance, inspiration and news from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (all times local):
2:37 p.m.
The Mormon church has chosen three new members for the top governing body that sets policy and runs the faith's business operations.
Church leader Henry B. Eyring, a member of the quorum, announced the selections at the church conference in Salt Lake City. The new members of the religion's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are: Gary E. Stevenson, Ronald A. Rasband and Dale G. Renlund. All three are from Utah.
The selections prove outside church scholars wrong who speculated that one of the selections would be a person from outside North America or Europe.
It had been six years since a new quorum member was chosen, and more than a decade since the leadership council had two openings. The last time there were three was in 1906.
Quorum members serve until they die, and three recent deaths created the unprecedented void.

A Mormon leader says that Christianity is under attack in the modern world, urging Latter-day Saints to exercise self-control and avoid temptations.
Quentin L. Cook of the faith's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles acknowledged Saturday that his guidance may seem difficult in today's world.
"Christianity is under attack," Cook said. "We live in difficult times. There is an increased tendency to call evil good, and good evil. A world that emphasizes self-aggrandizement and secularism is cause for great concern."
About 100,000 people are expected to attend one of five sessions held over two days at the conference where Mormons gather to hear guidance, inspiration from leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Millions more watch live broadcasts.
Three new members of the quorum will be named later Saturday.

A Mormon leader urges Latter-day Saints not to make their faith more complicated than it needs to be.
Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said Saturday at a church conference that asking questions is healthy, but advised people not to overlook the value of simple truths in search of mysterious or complicated answers.
"Sometimes we take this beautiful lily of God's truth and gild it with layer upon layer of man-made good ideas, programs and expectations," Uchtdorf said.

8:43 a.m.
Mormon church leaders confirmed that three new high-ranking leaders will be named during a weekend conference that has kicked off in Salt Lake City.
Dieter F. Uchtdorf said Saturday that three new members will be chosen for the religion's top governing body called the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Uchtdorf is on the board.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has three vacancies due to recent deaths of long-standing members.
It's been six years since a new quorum member was chosen, and more than a decade since the leadership council had two openings. The last time there were three openings was in 1906.
M. Russell Ballard of the quorum said in a speech Saturday that the Lord uses these leaders as living apostles to send teachings and guidance.
" alarmageddon " .
this term came to mind as i thought of just how weird it is that witnesses actually look forward to seeing billions of people killed..... also, at how strange it is that the org has repeatedly tried to work out the date or time for it to happen.
(although they will deny doing this ...but the old publications and talks etc are there on record!
" Alarmageddon "
I like it. Pretty much sums up the entire history of the wtbts. It's what kept sooooo many of us captives for decades.

last circuit assembly there was 700+ present and 1 baptized.. recently there was a foreign language assemble of over 500 and 1 baptized.. in the last 5-10 years i haven't been to one assembly where there has been more than a handful baptized.
at the memorial all i see are the same old faces that have been coming since the flood.. the hall complex i attend has 6 congregation and several groups-there is negative growth.
when you factor in the demographically aging folk and the many who have already passed away, i don't know where they get the 8 million.. i know that most of the growth is from the developing countries, but still i think they are fudging their numbers.
If sitting on one's ass by a metal cart filled with WT crap is considered witnessing, then the numbers could go up. If driving around with 4-5 'pioneers' in a car going from one remote "call" to another remote "call" is considered witnessing, the numbers could go up. You get the picture right?

i'm reaching out here, i've known ttatt for about 3-4 years now.
sadly when i first grasped it i had a total mental breakdown as i was a hard core firm to the core pioneer and 110% believer of my faith.!
now nearly 2years on after my breakdown i still have to attend to please my jw wife.
Hi and welcome,
Many, many of us here completely understand what you are going through at this time. We have been there and have survived. It’s pretty typical “cult withdrawal” symptoms you are experiencing. Not saying it’s easy nor painless but once you break free you can begin to live life, real life, not the fairy tale life we knew as dubs.
Personally, I was a dub virtually all my life and I’m now 68. However, after decades of doubts, wrestling with my logical mind, and despite being an ‘elder”, I finally accepted TTATT in 2008 when the “generation” bs doctrine changed again and was just too much for a reasonable mind to accept.
I had to check myself into a mental health facility that’s how bad things got for me. Today I’m truly enjoying my life by living in the real world. My only regret is that I didn’t listen to my logical mind when I was much younger. My challenge now is to bring my family to TTATT.
Time truly does heal all wounds so hang in there and get help if it gets too bad!

on reddit.. i've been expecting this.. any confirmation?.
When I was at a 2 week "elder school" (tm) back in 1973 at Norco, CA the bro who was the instructor, Russell Dixon, made the comment that we should 'encourage' the brothers and sisters to NOT be reading the old WT publications. Wonder why? So for over 40 years the borg has been trying to cover their asses from the true past of blubbering idiots.

day text -- saturday, september 19 - "he will certainly bring about deliverance from the assyrian."mic.
today, jehovah certainly has provided an abundance of spiritual men to shepherd his precious sheep, to strengthen his people for the future attack of the modern-day assyrian.
the most practical step that we can take to prepare for the coming attack of the assyrian is that of strengthening our faith in god and helping our brothers to do the same.
" At that time, the life-saving direction that we receive from Jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint. All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not. "
This is nothing new. jw's have been following this line of (un)reasoning for decades.
1) no organ transplants
2) no blood in any form or shape (or fraction)
3) sell your possessions and pioneer--the end is near!
4) shun your loved ones--no not even emails are acceptable
OK your turn to add on.

when you look through a keyhole, and see the person you once were?.
as for myself, i am just pleased i have mended my ways.
i realise ( now) my time as a witness was a keyhole that looked in to the ground, and licked the elders arse.
I think that all of us raised as dubs were embarrassed at one time of another because of our bizarre beliefs. I sure was. It was part of our jw culture. Being 'different' was to be worn as a badge of courage in jw-land.
As I look back, I think it would be honest to say that if I had truly believed with my "whole heart, soul, and strength" I would not have been embarrassed. But even a child's mind can often separate truth from fiction.

so i was eagerly (add sarcasm) awaiting the co visit this week.
for once because is less work being at the meeting.
i just have to sit down and listen.
One of the subjects that Abraham discussed during his 'family worship' night was;
"How to cook you son on an open fire".
It was a lively discussion that truly brought the family closer to jehober!
