After our second child died I had it done. I never told the ding-dong duds and just went on as an MS. Never regretted it. But I do have a child, (she'll be 20 in Sept.), I sure would not have missed out on that! Mav

i have stated on two previous threads, that were about the choice to have or not have children, that i was planning on getting a vasectomy.
about a month ago i went to see the urologist and i got scheduled for the procedure which i went in for on last friday.

If Jehovah let his name be removed from the Bible - how accurate can it be?
by truthseeker inthis question has always troubled me.. suppose you write a book.
it becomes a best seller.
then some little fart comes along and replaces your name with anonymous.. now this book can be published and edited by just about anybody who chooses to be "anonymous".. end result - your original work is lost and some revised edition has replaced it, written by "anonymous".

Very funny Min! I don't think it is a question of can't, maybe can't be bothered. Mav

Watchtower Lies
by Unclepenn1 ina jw i have been debating with (who is df'd by the way) gave me the go ahead to send to him what i would consider times where the wt has lied or been totally dishonest with the membership, or just in general.
does anyone have any clear cut quotes from the wt that are obviously deceptive?
i already sent him a lot of info about 1874/1914, and also about some other stuff.

Isn't WatchTower lies redundant? Or is it an oxymoron? Mav

Where did you draw the line?
by JH inwith the promise that a few of those who saw 1914 would also see the end of this system of things, where did you draw the line, and say the 1914 generation has passed?.
naturally some born in 1914 are still alive, but not many.
does this mean that the 1914 generation as taught by the witnesses is still plausible?

I think the whole premise is crap! The WTS and its dupes have a need to feel important and having special knowledge is a manifestation of that need. If the WTS gives you advice of how to print a book it might be worth listening to, but as for anything else I'd pass on following or thinking too much about anything they say. Mav

Let me come at this from a different angle. Why is the WTS god so insecure? The God I worship is not too worried about what humans think of Him. He knows what He is and can do. He doesn't have to stomp His feet and whine and threaten and extort people to love Him. As for His name, He could care less if we know it or not. The WTS made "God's name" an issue. But is it? Step out of the box and think about it. Mav

Believe It or Not!
by Steve Egner indriving home after a long bike ride last sunday, i turned onto my street, just a couple of blocks from my home.
clad only in lycra bike shorts and jersey, i had my window down, my shades on, and a nice endorphin buzz from a great outing.
without warning, a large, dense, golf ball sized pine cone from one of our towering neighborhood evergreens careened through my window like a meteor, and nailed me right on my left testicle.

Had one girl friend walking up to my front door as another was walking out the front door and believe it or not my left testice is still intact! Mav

The English Language
by Simon inlet's face it - english is a crazy language.
there is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
english muffins weren't invented in england or french fries in france.

Wonderful stuff Simon! I can't spell to save my life and after reading some of the very fine comments I don't feel so bad about it!
When I was an artist at the newspaper we had style books and the AP Wire Guide to refer to on grammer and punctuation so there would be some consistency. Spoonful, and not spoonfulls, comes to mind. And each region in America adds it's own flavor to the language. And the spoken language is greatly influenced by the advertisers and the media. They create new catch words and phrases all the time! I travel alot so I listen to the way the "a" and the 'r' are pronounced. You can tell alot about where someone is from by how they pronounce those letters. Along with those points add in "attitude", New Yorkers have it in mass quantities, so do New Englanders, even our Southerners have a pride and manner they hold dear to their hearts. Add the cultural infusion, Ebonics, along with a mix of Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese and a half a dozen other languages being plugged into everyday speech.
Some people just get it. I struggle everyday to master the twisted and convoluted path of the American spoken and written word. Mav

I married a woman 10 years younger than myself. We were together 15 years and then she ran off with a man the same age as her. I felt like my oldest daughter had run amok.
I have dated women as much as 18 years younger and 15 years older. The real young ones can't carry a conversation and the real old ones can't keep up in the sack. The one I am committed to now is 12 years younger and we look about the same age. We both are in great shape and she is very smart. I think I'll keep this one around for a while. Mav

Judge Rum-pot did a hostile takeover of the International Bible Students assets. They bent over and let him stove it way deep. Then he vilified them and rewrote the History of the WTS. A few years later he changed the name of his group to Jehovahs Nit-Wtinesses to further separate them from the Russel group. The only link between the two groups was the assets; buildings and printing equipment and such that Rum-pot took. He was evil alright but all his dupes were his personal slaves. Mav
