One has to remember that the CO is a corporate inspector general. He is visiting each congregation to ensure corporate policy is being followed to the letter! He evaluates everyone especially the members of the servant body. Is the membership loyal and obedient to the mother company? I am sure the WTS keeps close tabs of the CO's. Part of the control the WTS can use is handling all their material needs. The CO Undercover mentioned would be the rare exception. This man can walk away any time. I wonder how much influence this man's wife has over him?

I am sure many are sincere, but if they are not, they keep in to themselves, and I mean not even telling their wives. Most of the CO's and DO's I have met live for Mondays! GOLF! When they retire due to health issues they live at the good will of relatives or friends. Mother, (WTS) has no time for slackers! Mav

They became witnesses and quit smoking

often, i heard elders say that some tried to quit smoking for years unsuccessfully, but when they associated with witnesses, they were able to quit smoking.

i can imagine how hard it is for a smoker to quit smoking.

what reasons would a person quit smoking faster if they associate with witnesses?

I love a good cigar! I would smoke one a day. At night, with a single malt...almost as good as sex!

My girl did not like me smoking. I never did it around her, only after being with her so she would not even have to smell it. She voiced her concerns about the health issue. So when I came back from traveling I quit. I have not smokes since. I have cigars here and my girl bought me a beautiful gold lighter in Vegas, but I told her I would quit for her and I did.

I worry about her drinking. So we have a bet, no alcohol for two days. Not much of a bet, but the point was to prove drinking is not a problem. I've had no drinks. I find out tomorrow how she did.

As for the JW's bragging rights, just like everything else they use to prove Godly influence, this one is a without any real value. Mav

Should you change yourself for the person you are with?

just something i was thinking about and wanted to get a few opinions on.

This is a complicated question. The core person should not be altered. After a time you will go back to type. But there are many small things and adjustments are necessary to bond two people. Changing habits and being less selfish are not going to kill you. Minor changes are good and refreshing. As a healthy human you do them anyway. We are creating ourselves all the time.

If making a change pleases the other person...why not? I want to make the other person happy, I dance with her when she asks, I don't wear things she is not crazy about, I cut my hair different. She in turn will wear things she knows I like, wear make-up when we go out, change her hair. These things don't demean us. Now I would not tell her to get a boob job, or quit her job, or not talk to her friends, these are control issues.

We make adjustments all the time to make life smoother. How much more should we be willing to grow and learn the needs of those we love and try to fulfill them? Mav

after reading all the post here today.

i found it interesting how we hang on to the old thinking what got us in trouble in the first place..even myself i cannot shrug off some the junk that was implanted in my mind.. i have been out of the org now for almost three years and yet i find myself thinking they way society has taught me.. i have trying to date now it has been very difficult process..i find that im reluctant to new thoughts from some of the girls who i have taken out..i tried the relationship thing for almost a year and she gave up on me...im 38 with a 16 and 13 year old kids and dating is hard enough but the mind garbage is really hard to shake...so to say that i want remain faithful to the truth?

that is a stumbling block to my freedom...and to say i need to have a double life is but another lie to myself and to my kids..therapy my be needed but a specialist for xjw's would need someone with magical powers to suck my brain out and clean it with windex.....

I have dated a lot since dumping the dubs in dubland! But the woman I am seeing now is a JW. Not active but she does go to some meetings and has raised two child in the borg. They are now putting pressure on her to deal with the big, bad, apostate, (me). I am willing to respect her beliefs and just want that same respect. We have been intimate for over a year and a half but now she is making noise about being a sinner! So I told her I have no problem marrying her. I just want her to be whole souled about making a life with me.

The point in all of this is that for a long time after my very bloody divorce I would never consider marriage. I screwed around and kept the ladies at arms length. This woman wanted me from the very beginning. We met right after my wife dropped out of the picture. Religion was never an issue, now the wicked WatchTower influence is rearing its ugly head. There are no clean deals, but the JW's stupidness can really sneak up on you and kick you when your not looking!

I wish you the best. For you the Borg implants are still a factor, for me it's their control over their collective! Mav

the thread about the 6 million bible studies reminded me of some things that always bothered me about going door to door.

1. as mentioned in the other thread, there were times that cos and elders would tell us to not identify ourlselves as jws.

tell them we are "students of the bible" or "concerned neighbors", etc.

Post-wedding thoughts

i found something out yesterday that kinda bugs me.

first of all, let me go back to 1992.. i was 14 at the time, and my half-brother (on my mother's side) was getting married.

my mother decided not to attend because her ex-husband was going to be there.

As for your "father" well....I got to meet my girlfriends father earlier this summer, she hates this man, and he is a real piece of work! True, he passed life to her and somewhat looked after her when she was a child but all the other things a father should do he failed miserably! Now that she is a successful woman who raised two great kids without any help from him he wants to be in her life again. She is way over this guy. Sound Familiar? You feel how you feel and you have a right to those feelings! Just learn from them and use them to be the best person you can and not repeat this guys behavior and you will have turned this bad situation around. I wish you the best! Mav

My feeling is the weaker the man, the more he will hop on the headship bandwagon.

But in all fairness, two heads are better than one, so the man does have the edge there. Sadly he usually does his thinking with the wrong one! Mav, of the "been there and done that" class!

This subject is near and dear to my heart, (and the blood that flows through it).

I was in a very bad accident as a young child. Smashed up real bad and blood was required in the form of whole body transfusions. We are talking the late 1950's and I still have the scars on both ankels as a reminder. My grandmother was a JW and tried to talk my mother into letting me die. My mother told her where she, and all her JW pals, could go in no uncertain terms. 36 procedures and forty plus years later I'm still here. Does this mean I should have die and all that I've done, including fathering my daughter, should not have happened? Will God have to correct this matter in His due time? Has this action upset the timeline of the universe? How many children, and there children, are not here and did not have an advocate to guard their lives as I did?

The WatchTower and its leadership have amassed blood-guilt clear to heaven! Mav
