  just a little breaking news:.

  after several years of a great friendship with diane (previously posted as xena) things have started to really come together recently and i've succumbed to making an honest woman of her (or at least as honest as it's possible to make her.

  last night (xmas day) i popped the question and she agreed to marry me (i wonder if she knows what she's let herself in for!!!)..

  i have seen the idea floated a few times in some interesting places, but also on threads here.. i think she would get the vote out in a way it has never been gotten out before.

  it would also throw all the pollster's margins of error way out of whack (which might be worth it, all by itself).. why do you think she should be or could be elected president?.

  why do you think she shouldn't be or couldn't be elected president?.

  oprah will not be president because she does not want and will not accept the job. however, i did see her show today, and it looks like she would heartily endorse barak obama for president should he run. she twisted his arm and made him promise he would make the announcement on her show. since her opinion is so well respected by so many, maybe our next president will be her endorsed candidate.

  Life IS hard to deal with.

  my son is in icu and my wife's sister-in-law's dad just died this morning.. my son was going with my daughter to charlston sc for the weekend.

  she went by to pick him up and he fell over and wasn't breathing.

  she had some training in giving artificial respiration and was able to revive him until the medics got there.

  ken p. i am sorry. sometimes life does seem overwhelming. my mother almost died about 3 weeks ago - rushed to hosp. with internal bleeding. no one had a clue. she accepted three blood transfusions and now seems to be doing ok. my father-in-law has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer, stage 3. my sister-in-law, age 42 with 2 little kids, has just been told she may have heart disease and will undergo angiogram on oct. 5. i had a surgical breast biopsy on weds. and do not yet know the results. as i have been waiting i got word that a very close childhood friend succumbed to breast cancer on thurs. nite. when it rains it pours. i will keep you and your family in my prayers. maybe you could say one for me too. nowisee

  i'm talking about the new posters, like kitten whiskers, who started posting today (hope this works: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/120817/1.ashx).

  and it seems like we're getting a few like this nearly every day.

  people who were raised jws, really worry that they are doing the right thing in leaving, yet who have been made to feel not good enough by the wts, who felt they never measured up, who struggled with it, but came to realize that what they'd been brought up to believe was just not the truth.. the same stories are told over and over again, and they come from sincere, good people - not whiny, fault-finding apostates like the rest of us riffraff around here!

  i just want to thank everyone here for their posts. i know that it takes time and dedication to analyze and debate and refute and explain all the issues. i left wts in the 70's. daughter of a prominent person of responsibility who had a crisis of conscience when he saw flaws in one of the "flip-flops" and could not find anyone to discuss it honestly with him, only small minds who threatened dfing. at the concurrent time i was pioneering and married a bethelite, essentially a "company man". talk about cognitive dissonance. when i left i shelved everything, thinking i was just too stupid to figure things out. spent decades in limbo. when i came in contact with this site i was finally able to deprogram myself with the help of so many posters like those on this thread and including some here. i will print this out for family members who are physically severed, but i believe, still emotionally tied to wts as fds and still wait for correction. again my deepest gratitude to all. thanks especially to the elders who have been so honest. keep it coming. nowisee

  Are those claiming to be annointed, nutters?

  i remember at an assembly someone saying "oh yeh thats such and such, he's annointed...you can really tell" or something like that.. are those claiming, that they are annointed nutters?

  did their alphabet spaghetti spell it out for them?

  personally i think they are either very very confused, big headed or nutters

  A Friend Just Asked Me Why His JW Family Is Stocking Up On Food......

  all of his family are witnesses.

  they told him they are "storing and stocking up" on powdered milk and non-perishable items.......this is the second time i hear that witnesses are doing this in preperation of "the end".

  back before 1975 there was a local elder who was stockpiling bags of beans and rice and other things he considered to be essentials. i often wonder what happened to all of that....whether he eventually made use of his stockpile or if it went to rats or mildew and mold or whatever......

  i told my wife i wanted to grow out my beard a little longer.

  she said that was fine with her.

  then i mentioned i was thinking of letting it get as long as zz top's beards.

  MY man does not need my permission to do anything. and anything he really wants to do he does. however, i doubt that he would ever grow his beard like that (though i do like beards) because i just do not think it is attractive. best wishes, nowisee
