You know, I do believe it will always be around in some form. And I don't really care. I just want to get the person I love out. And that probably won't happen, either.

Why WT will ALWAYS be around
by JT infrom time to to one will read a post where the question is posed "will wt fall"
and for many who have taken a serious look at "belief systems" the answer for the most part is no and the reason is simple-.
belief systems provide humans with answers to "life's questions":.

Witnessism's........
by integ ini know some have posted similar topics like this, but i thought it might be kind of fun (for the new ones that are coming here in droves) and others, to give some examples of catch phrases etc, that are unique to the jw world.
here's a few to start:.... "muster up boldness", "sound down into our hearts","satan's crafty acts", "paradisaic", "young ones"," discernment".....these are just a few of the more irritating.
add yours if you'd like.. integ.

I have puzzled over "buying out the opportunte time" but I have no idea what it means! Has the term "community work" superceded "field service"? Oh, and I love "home but hiding"

Personality Types
by breal inrecently i have run into a few people that wanted to discuss this topic.
i believe i am a type a or driver personality although i know it goes alot deeper than this but confused as i took two tests and came out as esfj and isfj.
imho and based on human nature i have felt that people tend to romantisize there own perceived personality type.. i am interested in this from the standpoint that perhaps what we perceive as our personality type may not be how we come accross to others?!

Ack! Don't get rid of that "J"! It means you organize the outer world according to your values and I suspect what you value is the happiness of others! (I teach this stuff, so I hope you can trust me on this!)

My favorite book on personality types: "I'm not crazy, I'm just not you."

Do elders only beat up on women?
by aunthill ini find it interesting that of all the horror stories i have read on this forum, it seems that women are the subject of the elders' abuse much more than men.
is it because the elders feel more comfortable beating up, excuse me, "counseling" women, or is it because we women are more open with our feelings?
personally, i was mainly the object of neglect.

Hmm. I've been under the impression that if you miss a meeting it is noticed and you will be "encouraged" to not do that again. Is it only that JWs tend to be in families and the family members do the encouraging?

There is No Conclusion.
by Blueblades in.
what has concluded that we might conclude in regard to it?
-
kgfreeperson
"What has concluded (ended, been finished)that we might conclude (come to an understanding, bring to a close or ending) in regard to it." I don't know what he was asking himself, but what that question brings to mind is that as long as we're trying to understand, as long as we are still in the process of "seeking closure" nothing is concluded. He might also have been thinking about trying to put behind him what is done. Anyhow, an interesting question. Thanks for posting.

Thanks so much for this topic! And what does "sound down into your heart" mean? Actually, what do any of them mean to a witness?

There has been mention of something like "15 minute publishing" (I'm not a witness; please forgive my ignorance!) so I'm wondering if the strategy isn't to somewhat relax what keeps you in good standing while being stricter about what happens if you aren't trying at all?
