What is a generation?
by larc ini think we all know about the changing definiition of "generation" by the watchtower society.
i thought i would highlight history in terms of generations.
my great grandfather was born in 1850. that would make him 29 when russell started his religion.

While I agree that it is silly to think WTS cares about anything other than keeping people in line (for whatever reasons) I really do wonder what is going to happen when the message sinks in that the "new light" is that since we already have spiritual paradise, we don't really need earthly paradise. I really can't imagine that the majority of JWs are going to say, "Oh, ok." I think they're going to say "WHAT????? This is IT?????" and head for the door. But maybe I'm misunderstanding the new light.

Blood and Ron Rhoades

You know, I'm beginning to wonder how any JW manages to have anything like a sex life. Grow up reading about making the demons happy on into young adulthood dogged by "is this an offense?" I'd think everybody would have a permanent headache!

Last night I asked about getting reinstated...
by Gadget inafter the meeting last night italked to some of the elders in the car park, and asked what more i neede to do to get reinstated.
they commended me on the things i've been doing (?
), and said the main point for reinstating would be how much contact i've been having with my fiance, who's still a wittness.

Had a Conversation with a Young JW Lady at the Bus Stop
by Yizuman inthere was a young blonde lady who was passing out the wt & awake magazines at the bus stop where i was waiting for the bus to go downtown..... i started having a conversation with her by starting out about charles taze russell.
i told her that of all of my readings of the works of c.t.
russell, not one time did he ever teach that jesus was michael the archangel..... so i told her about this quote....zions watchtower and herald of christs presence, their official magazine of doctrine, 1879, page 48, which is teaching on jesus christ: "...his position is contrasted with that of men and angels, as he is lord of both, having all power in heaven and earth.

About the abuse--my "abuser" was excema, asthma and generally being allergic to the world. I had a mother who recognized very early what was going on and demanded treatment from doctors who had never seen a baby with these ailments before (I am old old old--back in the day when allergies were uncommon and everything was the fault of a rejecting mother). My parents (my mother did the work, my dad paid without complaint) did everything they could. And when nothing worked very well, well, I became the object of much frustration and worry which felt to me like anger and blame. I still will have a small symptom that can set off weeks of withdrawal and despair if I don't recognize what's going on and deal with it. So, Chris is right--there can be a lot of pain which you think is long past and dealt with that your current depression is telling you is not long past and dealt with! Doesn't have to be the kind of horrific trauma he dealt with, though. Hope you've made that doctor's appointment!
