I've always admired Oprah. She's one person I'd love to meet in person. A truly Beautiful Soul!

Opray Winfreys handling of sexual child abuse~an example for Governing Body
by purplesofa inthe governing body should be hanging their heads in shame watching how the events unfolded in south africa at oprah winfrey's school.
her fearless way in meeting the problems head on, not covering up, calling in expert help, investigating, apologizing, getting all adults away from the campass so the girls could talk openly about what happened.
those girls came first.

Proof it's all just a sham
by darth frosty injust heard from a very reliable source(c.o.
visit for a elder/friend) that 2 congo's here in detroit will be contracted.
it seems that the virginia park and west grand blvd, congregations are to be disbanded.

You should give the WTBS a Break. It's a Business Decision After All. If a Congregation isn't making Money for them, they need to close it down.

PLEASE tell me I'm crazy!!!
by Elyse867 inso... hubby and i have been getting into discussions with a lot of people lately about the wts.
i want so bad to know what to believe... i don't believe that the 'truth' is the one true religion anymore, but i don't know what to believe anymore when it comes to certain things... what happens to you after you die, etc.
so, i've been praying a lot (i still believe in god) asking him to direct me somewhere, just give me something to believe in.

Hon, give yourself some alone time. Too much information coming from different directions can be confusing. You might want to consider reading the book "Crisis of Conscience" by Raymond Franz.

Dating a non-jw
by Collegegurl injust a little back story since i don't really post much here.
i'm 21, i go to school full time and work parttime.
i live with my parents.

Usually, I'm one to say run but in your situation, I think it can work for you. You seem to have your head on straight.
I suggest having numerous discussions with your non-JW boyfriend about the religion so he understands you will have highs and lows. Breaking away from the Watchtower is a process and you will experience difficulty, especially when dealing with your parents and family.
By the way, congrats on getting your education. I'm proud of you!

We Should Give Newbies the Benefit of the Doubt
by flipper inconsidering what has gone on at this board the last couple months, i thought this would be good to discuss !
it's true that some here are somewhat jaded and untrusting of others because of the deception pulled by " trevor" and the whole " trevorgate " thing.
that being said and acknowledged however , think about what makes us not trust others as ex-witnesses.

We Should Give Newbies the Benefit of the Doubt
Absolutely. Healing is a process. Some may visit once or twice but the seed of love and acceptance can be planted.

shunned
by lovelylissa ini got disfelowshiped when i divorced my husband and altho we both went on to have relationships with other people he didn't get disfelowshiped as he wasn't going to meetings.
we have since then got back together and i find it so frustrating that i still get treated like a leper being shunned by his family and all the other witnesses but he still gets invited to dinner and works with them.
i don't want to be best buddys with any of them i just hate it when they cross the road to avoid me .

i do feel a bit crap when he takes our children over their for dinner and i am not invited, i feel we should be treated the same as one family unit
I'm surprised he isn't sticking by you. If they can't invite you, why would he go?

My opinions of Crisis of Conscience and Awakening
by LongHairGal ini read the two books.. awakening - this was the story of a married witness woman (elder husband) with family in the religion.
she had childbirth/blood rh issues and had to deal with not 'associating' with a disfellowshipped daughter.
throughout the book she wrestles with various issues and suffers mental anguish jumping through hoops because of the religion.

Do you recommend reading these books? My sister and I left at the same time, last month.
Absolutely! Both are great books. CoC is a Must Read. I didn't find it to be a dull read at all. I couldn't stop once I got started.

I think I had a preference for blond guys when I was younger. Now it's more personality.
