WOULD WOMEN MAKE GOOD ELDERS?
by Dansk ini've come to love and cherish much of the wisdom that emanates from the dear ladies of this forum and believe watchtower boobed in making all women subservient to the men.
so, do you think women would make good elders?.

I may lose my wife because of Disfellowshipping
by freedomfighter inhave only been out of the organisation for 2 months and the wounds still run deep.
particularly hard is the fact that my wife and 8 yr old son are now divided in our beliefs.
we cannot go out as a family with our old friends like we use to.

Two months is too soon to give up; this is a new situation for both of you.
There are some couples who both eventually make it out. Others, like mine end up in divorce. I decided to wait until my two older children were in college before I left. My husband knew better than to talk down to me about not "being conscious of my spiritual needs" etc. He would lose the battle if he tried.
I suggest trying to find some project or activity that interests you. Perhaps a bowling league or some other entertainment. I started attending estate auctions where I met many new friends. I also had a JW friend who regularly went out dancing and shopping with me.
Whatever you do, don't isolateyourself. This leads to depression and suicidal thoughts. The world is a big and wonderful place to explore while your wife goes to meetings and slaves for the Watchtower.

This sounds like my story :-) (Except the last line...I told them to kiss my butt)

Welcome Meg.
Leaving the WTBS is a process. I've been out about 20 years now and find I still don't get super excited over holidays. I do it for my hubby and especially for my little granddaughter.
Don't be so hard on yourself. Hugs. -Dianne

I was in Montreal in the late 1970s. I thought it was gorgeous. My husband likes Toronto but then he likes all big cities.

by CHILD inone sunday last fall, i read the bible online since i couldn't attend the meeting.
i was careful to read only the kjv.
the problem was i read a verse that was different from what i remembered fro the nwt.

Sounds like you're making better progress than many if your husband is listening to you. Mine didn't and I eventually left him.

JW's kids must NOT attend nursery school
by aligot ripounsous ini thought that after some 30 years as a jw the wts's teaching is so familiar that i can hardly find anything new in assembly talks, which may be the reason why, as many attendants do, i gently noze down and opening an eye from time to time is enough to catch up the drift of an all too well known talk.
still, i've been genuinely surprised last sunday by a point a bethel visitor rose in one of the p.m talks, namely that jws are not advised to send their kids to school until an age when he (she) can take a personal stand re.
xmas, birthdays, etc.

Day care children is a Personal Decision for each family to make for themselves.
I see it as another intrusion of the Watchtower trying to control every detail of a person's life and that is offensive.

My hubby (never a JW) simply doesn't understand why any of us bother to have a site like this. He thinks we should all get on with our lives. I've explained to him, as long as I have family and friends in this cult, I will always have an interest.
I do agree with him about JWs being just a Little Speck On This Earth and Are Not Significant from a world perspective. Amazing how our world once revolved around it, isn't it?
