Hamas - why don't you tell us what you really think.
An American
PS: I don't watch Friends. I don't drink Starbucks Coffee. (I drink whatever is on sale at the grocery store) And I don't even know who Matt Le Blanc is. Lumping "all of us" together would be like lumping "all of you" together. Bogus.
And in coming to this forum to find out someone's nationality was the last thing on my mind. I don't care where you (anyone) is from. I am here to help me heal, if i help someone else along the way - good.

What Do The English & Australians Think Of Americans On This Board???
by minimus init seems to me that this board's force comes mainly from our english and aussie friends.
i've read comments that some have gotten annoyed that the society and gb seem to only stress the "american" english in their style of writing.
i'm just curious as to what you think of your american brethren.

My value speech need your input
by SheilaM inon the 9th i have my value speech for school i decided to do what i need to speak about and that is "why i believe the jehovah's witnesses are immoral"
i only have 5-7 minutes and i know if i talk to much about them hiding the pedophiles withint the organization i will cry (tried that in the car today, bawled like a baby) so i need three good points about why i figured 1. they lie 2. they are misogynistc etc.
any input would be great.

Maybe you could make it a little more personal, like StinkyPantz mentioned.
JW = Cult
What draws one to become a JW?
Lovebombing in your time of need.
Association ONLY from w/i.
You may be able to reach someone that is considering joining. Almost everyone as least knows of a JW, from school or the neighborhood ....
Some scenario's:
1) Do you remember a lazy Sat. morning when you finally had nothing to do and all you wanted to do was sleep late and just laze around? Laying their in your bed half-awake, half asleep - enjoying your tranquility.... suddenly it is shattered by a loud knocking on the door. Aggravated by your peace being interrupted you unwillingly go to the door. A young man and an older woman is standing there, with big smiles on their faces, excited about being able to tell you how to save your life. Offering you two magazines - The Watchtower & the Awake.
RUN - Slam the door in their face and never look back. This little ole' grandma is a member of a religious cult..............
..Ultimately to lead you on your path of Self-DISTRUCTION
3) Imagine back to when you were in Elementary school. It is around Christmas time, everyone is acting silly. School will be out for a couple of weeks, everyone is excited about what they are getting for Christmas. The room is decorated with paper ornaments that the class had been making for over a week. A little tree was at the front of the room with little lights and candy canes on it. Remember how exciting Christmas was back then? Everyone had brought something for the "last day of school" party - The Christmas Party. Some had brought drinks, cookies, cupcakes, chips; everything anyone could want to eat! Everyone had also brought gifts to give to each other. Some wrapped so carefully, others put in a paper bag with a ribbon tied around it. Christmas back then was so much fun...
For everyone, except, the little girl with her long hair in a pony tail sitting in the far back corner of the room. The little girl that could not have a cookie or a chip or a drink or a present. The little girl that did not know how these kids could be so happy about Christmas becasue all of them that celebrated it was going to DIE.....
There are 3 scenario's. I don't know the age/type of people you will be speaking with, so I don't know which direction to go. I had to do a speach in college. I talked of a very powerful man, told of his attributes, his endeavors and his achievements. How hard he struggled to where he eventually ended up. Toward the end of my speech people realized who I had been talking of because of his atrocities. My instructor and my classmates assumed I was speaking of man that had a great accomplishment: maybe President, one said Jesus, one said Martin Luther King and so on. I was speaking of Aldoph Hitler. I ended up with a A on the speech. If it had of been "a nice person" it probably would have been a C.
Just my two cents. -

Dead X-JW Who Cares

I really want to thank everyone.
It was, very hard, hearing that he had died. I did love him very much, but I found my own life - away from the borg - as he did.
I guess it was just that "first love" thing that made me so emotional. Then the fact of reading CofC and this forum, and then hearing his sister's ACTUALLY SAY "we really haven't associated with him since he was DF'ed (24 yrs!!) but he knows that we love him...."
I haven't had any real "JW talks/preaching/opinions" in the past 20 years. My family does not bring up religion when i am around, more than likely due to the fact that if they did they would probably have to report me and then I would be DF'ed. So to actually HEAR ALL 3 (literal) sisters say that just tore me apart.
No - I have decided not to contact his widow. I know what kind of man he was. I know how much hurt he went thru when the JW's wouldn't "welcome him back" when he tried to get reinstated. Even his widow couldn't answer my questions anyway. Only he could. My main one would have been "are you completely free from JW beliefs?" And if he would have told me yes, I would have ask him to "guide me toward the right way; to show me which path to go down so that I can completely free myself". No - his widow couldn't give me those answers.
I can stop looking for him now. But.... still everytime I visit my family I am sure there will be something that will remind me of him. (we were from a very little town where everybody knew everybody) But hopefully the next time I go, I will cry, just a little but for the most part know that he now KNOWS the answer that I still wonder about. "where do we go from here?"
I will miss you very much Michael.
I know you are at peace.
Love,

as i mentioned in other thread i have been df'd for about 9-10 yrs.
i was raised in the "truth" - although neither of my parents were never really stellar examples of good jw's.

Do You Think Disfellowshipping Is Unscriptural?
by minimus inand for those that believe disfellowshipping is unacceptable, would you want to have known child molesters as members of a congregation that you were in?

Oh my, Jesus even associated with Mary Magdalene.
Do you think the elders would have taken the time? -

research on your own the history of JW's.
If continue your study and you question anything ask...ask....ask..... until YOU are completely satisfied. If you are not 100% in agreement keep asking... research...
You saw your childs face when you told her "no more birthdays", was that the face of God. I thought all children had the face of God (well except when they become teenagers; then they take the opposite effect!! )
It isn't "just a study". It is your LIFE. -

elumn8_2 - i am sorry if i misunderstood. I thought you were FOR disfellowshipping. A lot of the scriptures you quoted, the ones I remember from growing up, are the scriptures proving disfellowshipment.
And I was more than a little upset that day, due to an X-JW close friend of mine dying on Friday. I had just spoke with his JW sisters (literal sisters) and apparently they had not really talked to him in the past 20 years! After hearing them (and their justification of not talking to him from the scriptures) and then reading your post, it was some of the same scriptures they reminded me of during our telephone conversation.
I do apologize that I took your post wrong. -
