BACK ON TOPIC: It is nice to see other people that feel the same way about some things. Admittedly we all have different views about several things but that is what makes us individuals and this an interesting website. I enjoy openminded discussions on general and religious topics and with the exception of a few, that is what this is. When I look around at the Kingdom Hall, I feel all alone, but then I come here and see some people who are going through the same thing and can talk about it openly and I don't feel so alone anymore. Plus, my husband is very supportive and enjoys some of the threads on this site as well.

Witnessism's........
by integ ini know some have posted similar topics like this, but i thought it might be kind of fun (for the new ones that are coming here in droves) and others, to give some examples of catch phrases etc, that are unique to the jw world.
here's a few to start:.... "muster up boldness", "sound down into our hearts","satan's crafty acts", "paradisaic", "young ones"," discernment".....these are just a few of the more irritating.
add yours if you'd like.. integ.

I went to the meeting Sunday.............
by integ inthe public talk was on "loyalty"- ...speaker gave examples of loyalty in bible times...i.e: esau and jacob...esau sold his birthright for a bowl of stew...not loyal of him.
david was loyal, even though he "erred" when he messed around with bathsheba, then plotted to murder her husband.
we need to be loyal.

Do we have a tendency to have doubts or look with a "critical eye" when we are counseled by Jehovah through His earthly channel, "The Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?".
I always hated that statement. Of course we look at things with a critical eye, and we should. How can you have faith in something you don't check out for yourself? People of other religions blindly follow their preachers and JW's criticize them for doing so, blind leading the blind and both fall in the pit. How can you say someone should not look at things critically? God is ruler rather than man. All people should use the brain god gave them to decide for themself if something they are told is in harmony with the bible or not.

If Disfellowshipping Were Forcibly Banned
by AlanF in.
what do you think would happen to the watchtower society if disfellowshipping were forcibly banned by government decree?.
think about the implications for current jw leaders personally, for the doctrinal structure, for the power structure.. this is no mere theoretical possibility.. alanf

ThiChi, No I never took part in this. I would sneak off and see my disfellowshipped friends when my parents weren't around.

Taichi: Some of us were born into it and strongly encouraged to get baptized at a tender age. I was not in possesion of full mental capability at age 13 of distinguishing the effect baptisim would have on my adult life.

I don't think a Law will ever be passed as such, but I do believe if enough people sued for defamation of character, it would cause a stir. Then again, they would probably just make an announcement that so and so are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses instead of saying disfellowshipped.

I don' t think anyone should be allowed to make a life changing decision like that before 18. Hell, Jesus had to wait until he was 30, shouldn't the rest of us get close to that age?
Sincerely,
Mad about being baptized at 13.
