I got to thinking about this couple I knew growing up. They were bethelites for at least 10 years. They were the hard core bethel types, everything revolved around their bethel lifestyles. Then she accidentally got pregnant and they had to start their life OUTSIDE bethel. Does anyone else find this to be a screwed up policy? It seems like there should be a severance package for such occasions. Of course living with their meager/no income they didn't have a lot of savings, no jobs, (thankfully she was a nurse by trade and could obtain work easily), they had little to no furniture, and a baby on the way. We all know baby on the way means: car seats, high chairs, crib, bottles, diapers, clothes, etc. basically expensive stuff. They not only had to start over for themselves but also plan for a child. I find this to be a really screwed up policy. Couldn't bethel just have a day care section for those couples who are SO dedicated?

Woke up this morning with a question on my mind.
by El Kabong ini don't know why i woke up this morning with this question on my mind.
why would god make the angels first, which are superior to humans, then go and make something inferior, like humans second.
i would figure that the angels would be like 1.0 then the humans would be revision 2.0 or something like that.

My optimistic view: I just figured it was because he needed help in heaven first.
My pessimistic view: Who knows, maybe we were just little dolls for the angels to play with.

ive been thinking again
by lurk ini was thinking isnt it strange how everything in the bible like prophecys and god telling ppl what to do etc was always relayed by dreams ,visions and real things seen and heard .but today theres is nothing.
just flashes of light new teachings that dont come via any usual way god does things.
when he told ppl stuff in the bible he got into a dream or they heard his voice.so how do they come about for the wts?

I have always wondered that. Why did god stop talking to people. I know JW's say it is because all that we need to know is in the bible. It would be cool if god would give all of us really searching for him a clue, a dream or something.
Then again, if a voice came out of heaven and spoke to me I would go to the Psychologist and get meds for schizophrenia.

Pulled out of Sex Ed classes
by Nosferatu infor those of you who had a jw childhood, were you pulled out of sex education classes?
did it bother your conscience if school surprised you with one?
after being deprived from sex knowledge and since the society doesn't make diagrams, how did you learn about it?

I didn't want to go to the class, so I begged my father not to sign the form. (Back then sex was an uncomfortable topic to talk about being raised a JW). My dad said he would not sign as long as I agreed to read the entire AWAKE on AIDS. I agreed and didn't have to go.
I was such a psycho.

JW dating....

i have read on some sites that the jw faith does not allow christians to date outside their faith.
well, christianity is christianity.

I personally know alot of people who dated unbelievers. Some of them got married. It is a tough fight though. I started dating my husband before he started studying. (Yeah I converted him, I know BAD ME!) If you decide to persue this, and she agrees she will probably want to keep it a secret from her parents and friends, which could be a blessing. When things get serious though, if they do, that is when all hell will break loose, because that is when parents and friends get involved. The JW would risk being disassociated for marrying an unbeliever and none of her JW friends would be in the wedding. So if things do go that far, ELOPE!!!!

Well, here's my story
by ignorance is strength inwell here's my story:.
i was born into a jw family, my father having been converted and not really much of a believer and my mother being born into it .
my mother's family first became involved with jw's when my great grandmother was converted from, i think, catholicism (i'm only saying that b/c she was irish).

Welcome aboard. Thanks for sharing.
If you want to meet other X-JW's in your area you can go to www.meetup.com and see if there is a meeting close to you. There are also apostafests held throughout the US, that are usually announced on this board.
Best Wishes in your search for religion.

I Did Jesus come in 1914?
by ClassAvenger ini think i have read this somewhere, but do the jehovah witnesses believe that jesus came and spoke with some members of the watchtower organization?
is this a lie, or do they truly believe it?
if it is true, do they state it in any book or magazine?

No. You must have JW's confused with someone else.
