Snakes image in illustration in WT study just done
by Noumenon ini was at the meeting on sunday just gone (first time in about 5 weeks), and being a lot more attentive to detail these days, i noticed in the illustration of jacob and his sons (page 20 of june 15th watchtower) on the wall behind the old jacob there is what is clearly a bird with wings spread, but have a look at it's nec and head?
it looks more like a coiled serpent with large wings than a bird!

Can a J-Dub conduct a Bible study without a WTS publication?
by Latin assassin from Manhattan inif j-dubs claim to be the authority on bible literacy and teaching, then why can't they conduct a bible study or preach without a wts publication?
if i claimed to be an authority on shakespeare during a conversation with a friend, would i pull out a book written by someone else that explained it?
how does that prove that i understand shakespeares work?

Actually the Admonition now is to try to start studies using just the bible. You are supposed to prep well ahead of time though. I guess people are put off by the publications in some areas, so they are trying just using the bible and going over a few scriptures pertaining to one subject at a time.

Feeling Powerless and Vulnerable
by Swan inthe past several nights i have had very disturbing dreams that, while not the nightmares i used to have, still leave me feeling powerless and vulnerable.
i feel like the other shoe will drop soon and i feel totally unprepared while just waiting for it to happen.. in one dream i witness my niece as a little girl back when she was first starting grade school.
since i have never known my nieces and nephews as teenagers, i tend to dream of them as they were when they were children.

I have discovered that things in your dreams can mean something different than you would think. I have looked up things in a dream dictionary like one time in my dream everything was white, I looked it up and it meant that I had made peace with what I was going through. This really made since since my dream also included everyone involved with the problem I was having and the problem was no longer a problem.

How I was raised as a JW versus how I have raised my children. . .
by drahcir yarrum inthe topic of losing our history, because of being raised as jw's got me to thinking about how i've raised my own children.
i have a son 17 years old, a son 15 years old and a daughter 13 years old.
needless to say they have only stepped into a kingdom hall once in their lives to attend my niece's wedding.

by minimus inthe more i read the board , the more i come to appreciate that people are always going to be who they are.
those that complained in the past will always be complainers today.
those that didn't have a clue about life while witnesses are probably still going to be clueless as exes.

I have completely changed and then changed back. During the ages of 23-25 I was a completely different person. I don' t know how my husband put up with me. But after seeing a therapist and leaving the board I am back to my old self and it feels GREAT!! Maybe we do always return to our true nature.

Maybe I do have the maternal instinct but I am just afraid of the commitment.
You hit the nail on the head. I feel the same way. I mother EVERYTHING. I know I would like to be called mommy, but just don't know if I am ready for the long haul yet. I am 26 and my husband is 32, so I guess I have about 4 more years to decide.
