Now, that I am older, I know that in the South, the funeral homes give you a White Wreath to put on your door along with a guest book at the home for visitors. They also put up those stupid signs that say "SLOW FUNERAL". I assumed this was custom everywhere, but I have never lived in another state. For whatever reason the signs weren't up for that house that day.

JW working the obituaries
by Icansaylucky ini was reading my local paper this morning and there was a letter to the editor.
the writer had recently lost a child and the child's obituary was recently printed in our paper.
the writer said she received a letter with a "jehovah witness tract" called "what help for dead loved ones?

I got all but the last photo to work in the TV area. I guess I just want to know why the pictures are all grainy. If she is a model doesn't she want people to REALLY see her at least in a few shots. The grainy thing is cool for a few shots but she really should have some nice ones as well.

I just went through the NWT online Matt-John. http://www.watchtower.org/bible/index.htm
I could find occasions of Mary, Zecheriah, Elijah and John all saying the name Jehovah but none in Quotations from Jesus. Very Interesting.

We all feel like that sometimes. Or at least intelligent thinking people do. You are ONLY 18. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! You have your whole life ahead of you. I am 28 and I must say life has really changed in the last 10 years as my perspective on life and friends has. Things get better with time. You will make new friends and keep some old ones. But everyone has it right. You can't dwell on the past too long. You can just learn from your past mistakes and move on. It is a difficult thing to do, but it is the ONLY way you can ever be truly happy. HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!

When I was quite young, maybe 12, I was working one side of the street while another sister worked the other side of the street. In my ignorance, I went up to a house with a white wreath thinking it was merely decoration and knocked. I started my presentation and was quickly cut off. The guy said, "Can't you see this white wreath? Don't you know there was a death in this family?" I said I hadn't realized that was what the wreath was for. The guy continued to berate me, so I did what as a 12 year old at the time I thought was best, offer him a tract on dead loved ones. Boy was that the wrong thing to do. He threw it at me and slammed the door. After that I never even thought about approaching someone with the tract. When they urged those to visit cemetaries or write families in obits. I just knew I couldn't.

GO SEE HIM!!! There is nothing preventing you from doing so. There are no JW rules against having family with you in difficult circumstances. When he told you it was unnecessicary for you to come, he was just trying to show he was strong and keep you and the rest of the family from feeling the same pain he is. Even Non-JW's do this. So go to him. Show family support. He needs it.
If things turn for the worse and your cousin does not make it, there will be a memorial service of some kind. Most either choose cremation with a small service at the Kingdom Hall OR they go through the funeral home for everything and just provide the funeral home with Kingdom Music and have one of the Elders at the Hall do the service as opposed to a preacher. There will be a service of some kind and all family (even non-JW) should and have always (in my experience) been invited. I have even see Ex-JW's at family funerals.
Best wishes, I hope your cousin pulls though!!!

Also it depends on whether she decided to leave and faded away or if she was disfellowshipped (kicked out and shunned).
