considering jw's make up such a small part of the worlds population to what extent do our beefs with the organisation matter to anyone unconnected?.
should our opinions of witness beliefs concern people more than witness themselves .should everyone have the right to make up there own mind and chose to be witnesses without us interfereing?.
I'll tell you, I'd like it to, but even to close "worldly" friends, my past means nothing to them. Just one of those bizzarre family things that they forget. I think we'll get somewhere doing what we're doing but perhaps we shouldn't try to save the world, just our families.
Just be subtle in our helping them. Have they done anything to warrent worldwide attention? No. No more than any other breakaway sect.

Yeah, the ending is my favorite part. Ewan McGregor is awesome, and Nicole is nice to watch, as always. I couldn't stand their version of like a virgin, but most of the songs were cool. I loved the indian pop song they used for the final number. Very cool.
At least it's something different, even if it's flawed. I can't stand some of the direction, but the sets and costumes make up for it.

I've been in service before, YOYO. When you tell your children that they can't play with the other kids on the block because they are 'bad asociation', then what is being said? My father would tell me about how my 'worldly' best friend was going to die in Armagedon, when I was 6, and that I just had to accept it.
That's what I'm speaking of. I'm not a monster, or an animal. I think that religion has gotten out of hand. The JW's are no exception. I won't allow my family to be destroyed by hate, even if they are destroyed by god.

Not really. Because they judge people by giving them titles such as WORLDLY PEOPLE, and BAD ASSOCIATION. some may be bad, but many are not.
Anyone who goes by a belief system which judges basically good people as if they were animals, subject themselves to insinuation and persecution.
They reap what they sow.

I agree that religions in general are mentioned, but remember the Catholic molestation news stories? Scientologists who get have negative things said about them (deservedly so, they're a bit out of it). It's not just the JW's, it's anyone who blatently ignores the social standards of the day to pursue a purist lifestyle, and denigrate those who are different.
JW's fit that mold. They preach that all things "worldly" are "wicked". They demonize anything which does not appease them that particular day. You've seen the conscience trends wax and wane.
I agree with Tina when she said, "Witnesses need to feel they are persecuted,even when not because it's part of the group dynamic. Nothing more cohesive to any group than perceiving/identifying an 'enemy' that persecutes you."

i have asked it in a private discussion with a fundamentalist who cowardly ignored the whole premise of the thought and am hoping there is someone here who can address it.. i am aware of the fact that abortion is one hot button topic.
it is not my intention to make this a debate about abortion.
I have no feeling one way or the other about abortion, but the killings in the old test. have always been a problem with me. He was a God of Love...to his own people alone. But, I always thought how he said he would have saved Sodom if even one man was good, but how he killed possibly thousands of good people in Caanan. It just doesn't match up.
Julie's point about the fundies not recognizing the blood spilled in the name of God, written down in their holiest books,(whatever holy books those may be) is very true. The old test is filled with it, and perhaps that's why a lot of violent fundies bomb clinics and such.
Again, I don't care one way or the other, but Julie had a couple of interesting things, there.
