I see it all the time. Ever seen a Vice President trying to use a command line prompt? THAT was funny!

How true is this? (dilbert)
by Simon indilbert's "salary theorem" states that "engineers and scientists can never earn as much as business executives, sales people, accountants and especially liberal arts majors.
" this theorem can now be supported by a mathematical equation based on the following two well known postulates: .
postulate 1: knowledge is power.

Talking About Talks..
by Englishman ingo on, be honest, how did you enjoy giving talks?.
were you nervous?.
glad when it was over?.
-

It had a good side and a bad side. The first few talks I gave I was really nervous and stuff, then I grew a little bit more confident. It was so weird to look at the congregation from that direction that it freaked me out!
But I managed.

[:|?]"The sign's of the times" What ...
by plmkrzy insorry this is so long, i probably could have left out half of it.
i just felt like typing today.. the sign of the times.. i was having a semi conversation with someone whos very close to me on this subject after the 911 tragedies.
apparently some congregations were talking about it being the worst thing that has ever happened, thus being a sign of the times.

9/11 was a horrific tragedy - not only were nearly 4K people killed that day, but two of the greatest buildings on Earth were demolished. But it is by far not the worst disaster ever to happen on this planet. One of the worst disasters in all of recorded history was when the US perfomed tactical nuclear strikes against the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Those acts have resounded through the years, and were a thousand times worse. People are still being affected every day by the aftermath of THAT, cancer etc. and bodily mutation from the radiation are still rife in that area.
My deepest sympathies go out to anyone who lost family or were otherwise berieved by what happened on September 11 BTW!
But just think how many MORE people were killed in 1947.
<start conspiracy theory>Do you think it was a coincidence that the events in Roswell, New Mexico happened immediately after those bombs were dropped? Maybe that many people dying set off an alarm somewhere unimaginable to us.</end conspiracy theory>

Why I think the Borg will have another enemy soon.
by Mindchild inthere is that old story i'm reminded of sometimes about the world being full of three types of people.
the people who make things happen, the people who watch things happen, and the people who have no idea of what is going on.
i thought you might want to at least be in the second catagory so i wanted to share something i found interesting with you.. i have two short poems and a short story for you to read below, and if you care to read these you might find something quite remarkable about them.. long years have passed.

No, Mindchild, these are just smart ALGORITHMS, not smart machines. The intelligence of the machines has remained the same throughout, and it always will, until we figure out how to make circuitry that functions at a quantum level (and not at the electronic one as it does now).
The real intelligence here is coming from the programmers, who have essentially distilled a bunch of rules about writing into a computer program that automatically generates them.

Evolution and Man Where are We Going?
by D wiltshire inevolution and man where are we going?.
i feel evolution is still happening to man not so observable.
in his physical appearance but very outstandingly in the brain.. here's an observation of mine, and others: first let me quote amazing records strongly suggest that civilization goes back over 10,000 years.

No, MindChild, we are only the vehicles the Memes written deep inside our chromosomes are using to leave this planet. There is no other viable way of getting off this world.
Cool theory, huh?

Who makes the moves???
by Christina77 ini am just curious as to who initiates sex in your relationships... is it the male or the female most of the time... or is it about an equal amount???
and is it a different view between those involved???
so how do each individuals do it, to show the other that they want it???

I don't think I've ever refused, actually. How could I? The instant a woman ever starts that sort of thing, my brain just sort of shifts one meter South, and it's all over (no pun intended!)
Butalbee: It was!

The Corporate Cult Thesis
by metatron insometimes people express the opinion that the 'truth' is nothing more.
than a corporate cult that pretends to be a religion.. in the near future, we should be able to discern how valid this is,.
if growth dramatically slows.

You got THAT right Metatron. They're spiralling into the Dub Event Horizon as it is...

Human brains are very curious things, and we know so little about how they TRULY operate - we're a bit like cavemen trying to understand the internal functioning of Direct3D.
There is a lot going on in that bunch of neurons than we can see right now - all of your neural impulses are generated not at an electronic, visible level, but at the quantum level, which we cannot really view at our present technological state. This means that we cannot even BEGIN to understand our own minds yet.
Maybe some day...
