  No, the WTBTS will never fall. It has too many hardcore zombies at the center. It may shrink, but it will never fail to ensnare people every year.

  It's not going anywhere anytime soon, because the people in it have their little blinders on and are running very hard in their exercise wheels, so they don't notice much that is happening in the outside world.

  Besides, they have an army of millions of free book-sellers working their silly asses off in FS, and that's something no other religion has, really, it's a very strong point towards their continued survival.

  NYT, I'm not even going to start...

  So Proplog2, you're saying that all of those little kids who were so badly abused should just be ignored? Great.

  You're just another person closing their eyes, slapping their hands over their ears, and shouting "LALALALALA!"

  Children get abused by JWs, and the Society covers this up. Explain away all of those documents on watchtower.observer and stuff!

  What if you had a kid and s/he was abused by an elder? Would you say "Oh, it's OK, 99% of child abuse cases are just fiction" and forget about it? I think NOT.

  How Many JWs Fully Buy Into the WT Party Line?

  for those of us with years of acquaintance with the wt and its teachings, it's clear that full acceptance of the 1914 date as the establishment of god's kingdom in the heavens is a non-negotiable condition of remaining in good standing in the organization.

  many of us know people who've been booted out just for expressing misgivings, lety alone outright denying this teaching.

  almost as central, and as non-negotiable, is the teaching that only baptised jws can expect to survive the big a.. .

  Well I don't actually recall any of that, but as far as I remember, JWs invested and bought houses in the same way as normal people. I wasn't in the Troof for long enough to really see anything changing like that, although there were always the admonishments of 'The End Is Just Around The Corner' which stopped striking dread into me about a year b4 I left!

  It had a good side and a bad side. The first few talks I gave I was really nervous and stuff, then I grew a little bit more confident. It was so weird to look at the congregation from that direction that it freaked me out!

  sorry this is so long, i probably could have left out half of it.

  i just felt like typing today.. the sign of the times.. i was having a semi conversation with someone whos very close to me on this subject after the 911 tragedies.

  apparently some congregations were talking about it being the worst thing that has ever happened, thus being a sign of the times.

  9/11 was a horrific tragedy - not only were nearly 4K people killed that day, but two of the greatest buildings on Earth were demolished. But it is by far not the worst disaster ever to happen on this planet. One of the worst disasters in all of recorded history was when the US perfomed tactical nuclear strikes against the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Those acts have resounded through the years, and were a thousand times worse. People are still being affected every day by the aftermath of THAT, cancer etc. and bodily mutation from the radiation are still rife in that area.

  My deepest sympathies go out to anyone who lost family or were otherwise berieved by what happened on September 11 BTW!

  But just think how many MORE people were killed in 1947.

  <start conspiracy theory>Do you think it was a coincidence that the events in Roswell, New Mexico happened immediately after those bombs were dropped? Maybe that many people dying set off an alarm somewhere unimaginable to us.</end conspiracy theory>

  there is that old story i'm reminded of sometimes about the world being full of three types of people.

  the people who make things happen, the people who watch things happen, and the people who have no idea of what is going on.

  i thought you might want to at least be in the second catagory so i wanted to share something i found interesting with you.. i have two short poems and a short story for you to read below, and if you care to read these you might find something quite remarkable about them.. long years have passed.

  No, Mindchild, these are just smart ALGORITHMS, not smart machines. The intelligence of the machines has remained the same throughout, and it always will, until we figure out how to make circuitry that functions at a quantum level (and not at the electronic one as it does now).

  The real intelligence here is coming from the programmers, who have essentially distilled a bunch of rules about writing into a computer program that automatically generates them.
