Yes, there is certainly power in the organization. We dropped out 5yrs. ago, moved to Las Vegas and decided to visit a local Hall for the talk. Upon leaving we were asked our name. Several months later we attended the memorial at that same hall. We were approached and asked what we were doing there? I asked the elder what he was told by the society about us that he would ask such an unkind question on such an important occasion. He stammered and wouldn't answer me. I personally know 3 elders that have stepped down and away quietly. Far to bossy for me....

Good for you ElS and congratulations to your daughter. My daughter now 24, was raised JW. We walked away about 5yrs. ago. She never got anything from our Catholic families because they were mad we left the church and because of the borg beliefs. She graduated grammer, high, col.,and flight attendant schools without so much as a congratulation card although they sure send us announcement notices for all their kids happenings. I have 10 brothers and sisters who all have kids graduating and wed and birth announcements. I adopted a 2yr.old Chinese girl 7yrs. ago. who got nothing and continues to get nothing from my family. It's sad but one must go on and keep their relative happiness about any situation.
Lots of love to your family...

Thank you all for sharing. I have stories from all 7 halls I attended. That is not where one finds true friendship. ONE BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT! From elders to writing the society, one hurtful, damaging waste of time when we each only have so much. I would love to name names when I tell my stories. Is that wrong?

Most Annoying "Kingdom song?"
by doodle-v inwhat's a kingdom song you can remember singing that gives you the creeps now?
mine is "move ahead" i think that was the title, anyway it has so much rhetoric... but the tune is so darn catchy.... darn.... in my opinion, those songs are the perfect example of mind control.
move ahead.. move ahead ... blah blah blah blah blah .

One of my worst songs was "From house to house, from door to door, together we must go....." I hated going and I hated singing about going. My kids and husband did too. I have appologised to them for those years of "loving torture".

My daughter wants to convert
by Yerusalyim inmy 13 year old little princess wants to convert..........................to judaism.. .
she asked me today on the way home from her therapist if she had to take the confirmation class next year in the catholic church.
i told her that she didn't have to take it until she was ready to, that it was wholly her decision.

I think 13 is pretty young to convert to anything other than what a serious minded parent is teaching them. I agree with those that suggested study until they are out of high school.

LET"S START OVER,,,
by kls ini know there are bad feelings running here but it has to stop now.this forum and all on it are hurt in some way.i come here for information and a smile when things get bad.if it was not for this place i would not know all the lies of the wt or what they are pulling next.i finally feel i am not alone in dealing with a loved one in this cult and emotionly i am getting stronger thanks to you all.everyone here is needed, you all provide information ,either emotionily or about the org.
that may help someone.we are not the org.we are of group of healing and we need each other to stick together .i can see the trolls just loving this and instead of helping them get out of the org.
this will show them we are no better.please make this the loving place all want to join.we are all some of us have.today is a new day, let's start over.please!

I agree Kathy. I log on for the same reason. I slowly faded away from the group and can't blame it on any one point because there were so many add ons through the years. I feel so freed with "Door to door no more." I was never much of a public speaker, I hated seeing ones beat their little ones into silence at kingdom halls. I came in back in 1984 and faded out 14 long, hard years later.

I wasn't asked if I wanted to drive out in service. I was told that showing up ment my " service vehicle" would be used by all. My caravan was always full. When I didnt feel like driving all day, an Elder asked if I could be loving enough to " let someone else drive my car." One elderly sister wanted us to take her and dog to the groomer on service time. Another to do an errand between stops to still "count time." If God knows the number of hairs on our head," counting time" was a foolish thing for I felt I was wasting mine.
There were 13 pioneers one month. We were suppose to meet at Hall to encourage others. I was the only pioneer there. A brother took one personal buddy on a study and gave me 6 for my car. I commented that the other 12 pioneers must be in the " secret service." Month after month as I pioneered they remained in the "secret service"... Evergreen Cong.
"protecting the innocent and week" is one of my favorite. The elder body felt this way toward an oozing aids victim that came rushing to Evergreen hall looking for God because he was now facing death. His male partner was dying of aids and he was too. We sisters cleaned his home while he was in the hospital, never being told of his condition. He started to bleed profusely in my home around my kids at dinner. That is how I found out! The "blind guides" told their wives and kids to stear clear of John, but the rest of us peons ? What ever happened to "keep the congragation clean". Evergreen Cong.
"be no part of the world" An elder in Barrington Cong. in Illinois had his son playing hockey. I laughed when I heard they were making him lead elder knowing this because I was ridiculed for my son playing hockey but he had a "worldly" dad that allowed it. Joe Guagliardo took his son out of hockey to further his position but tried his hardest to get even with me. "where you find true friendship" hahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Do You Expect To See Your Loved Ones In The Resurrection?
by minimus in.
that's a question i've been contemplating lately.

Yes, all those who loved God, respected life, and lived their life to their best anyway. In Heaven or Paradise Earth isn't the important thing. I would appreciate my journey through these hard times on earth be rewarded for the love I tried to show my fellow man. None should try to destroy that hope in anyone.

I was told, " You are a spiritual babe," by young and older ones out in service and in front of my kids. This was not loving or upbuilding Especially when I had an opinion or dissagreed on some point over a year after baptism.

People cannot be controlled without their permission

Joel- That is quite a blanket statement. Although it is probably true, some of us were raised in very disfunctional homes and had to learn simply everything over the right way (for ourself ). After being raised a Catholic, I visited every Christian Church looking for that one truth to raise my kids. (exausting)
Unfortunatly, many as they learned, married other disfunctional people and had kids. Then, looking to take refuge in the one true God talked about in Ephesians...wala JW.. They kept us so busy in the work and with publications that extra reading fell away.
I have appologized to my kids for the forced talks and door to door activity I hated myself. I was against many things in the many years we belonged and wrote the society. They wrote back cold and calloused. They tried to shut me up by way of my husband who replied that he agreed with me and furthermore, hoped I would step away from the group. As for our household, we all left the JW..
