Very New Light
by Abaddon init has now been realised that the the inside leg measurements of several kings of israel had been left out of the count of years that traditionally resulted in 1914.. with this new light we have a clear demonstation of the power of biblical prophecy, as the count of years now ends in the fall of 2001, exactly when the 'king of the north' made himself apparent.. thus, we can again truly highlight jesus' words 'this generation will by no means pass away...' as being applicable now!
what joy, both for those that remained faithful to death, not running ahead of the fetid deodourant salve but waiting on jehovah, and for those who are alive now.
a generation is a score of years or so, so it is unlikely we will still see this wicked system of things in operation in 2025!.

What Islamic Fundamentalists are really afraid of;
by Abaddon in... is women.
(from the daily telegraph, a british national paper).
in the next few days, our boys will be taking on the taliban, and we must all pray they succeed.

Damn! I missed being Witlessed too...
by Abaddon in... some dub's called around after i'd left for work.
they spoke to my girlfriend, asking her what she thought god though of all the problems.. it's the first time they've ever called on the apartment in the four years she's lived there.
dub's are becoming an endangered species here in holland.. anyway, she couldn't stop laughing; she had this flashback to a conversation i'd had with her.

Lest we forget; the other side of the coin
by Abaddon inthis is a post i've copied from randy's board (tishie's old board) - it was in turn copied from somewhere.. .
i've been hearing a lot of talk about "bombing afghanistan back to the stone age.
" ronn owens, on kgo talk radio today, allowed that this would mean killing innocent people, people who had nothing to do with this atrocity, but "we're at war, we have to accept collateral damage.

Jehovah's Witnesses and arguing...
by Abaddon inone thing i have noticed, both in my own reportoire of personal habits and in those of others posting on xjw boards, is the tendency to argue.. i contrast this to a few other boards i've frequented on a variety of topics.
obviously there are disagreements, but xdub boards can get really crazy at times.. there is this tendancy for xjw's to argue like rabid dogs; hell, it's not just the x's who do it, current jw's are just as bad.. this is over and above the normal 'spit on the mat and call the cat a bastard' atmosphere that often prevails on discussion boards (although if you ever want to see a really polite board i suggest you go to a lifestyle bdsmer's board!!)..
are we all psychos?.

New Light in all it's different forms...
by Abaddon inif you've followed the news in the past couple of years or so you'll know that the ira has a splinter group called the real ira.... a group of friends and i were having a laugh about this after they commited their first terrorist outrage.
how anyone can consider blowing people up when they are shopping any 'realer' than the original ira i don't know, but we thought, if there's a real ira, maybe there are other splinter groups.. like the surreal ira, who yell 'bang' loudly in public places instead of blowing up bombs.. or the minimalistic ira who have very, very small bombs.. or the nihlistic ira, who just can't be bothered with blowing things up.. or the mime ira who throw themselves to the ground and cover themselves in ketchup.. this, and the habit of brands of food, drink, and cleaning products to add 'new' in front of their name at the slightest opportunity got me to thinking about 'new light'.. in all its forms.... new light; we weren't wrong, we just... weren't... er... right, but we are now.. newer light; well, we knew we were, er, er, unright!
brilliant!, we knew we were unright, but it turns out the new right we were after we were unright is actually unright, but we are sure we are right now.. ultra light; would you believe we were unright again?

Old Memories
by Abaddon intoday for no particular reason i was mulling about the door-knocking.
perhaps it was the enui and dispair generated by having the second laptop go down on me in two days... and it's not nearly as interesting as it sounds.. anyway, i was musing; as with many of us i've knocked on a fair few doors.. however, i've only had my door knocked on twice.
once as a dub, by some moonies, and once after i'd left when i was in sunday morning debauch girlfriend mode and asked them (jw's) to call back which they never did.

A Jehovah's Witness; two people in one skin...
by Abaddon inthe excellent threads started by amazing and jt sum up different aspects of a way of looking at my family i only recently realised that i had developed.. to give background, i walked away in '93 but have retained fairly good relations with my family although i have never had a 'show-down' regarding beliefs, just a few half-hearted fire-fights.. my girlfriend (never a jw) had met them a few times.
a few months ago we went for a meal at their house.
i think that my parents had decided beforehand to 'get her alone', so my dad asked for help with his pc in his office at home.. my mum and my girlfriend were in the living room; i could hear what was going on from where i was.. my mum was basically doing the "it is the truth you know" bit (a jw mind trick; sincere repetiton, eye contact, gesture, head nod... what do they think they are, some kind of jedi??
