My guess is Eduardo applied for government disability benefits. His wife probably cleans other people's houses. My hunch is that the poor kids are missing out on a LOT more than Bible stories: Adequate food and medical care, after school activities, time to play outside instead of trudging thru hours of door-knocking, Christmas, birthdays, etc. All because the parents got sucked into a high-control cult. It really is child abuse!

International Convention...Same Message, Same Emotional Manipulation
by HeyThere inwell, of course nothing else would be expected, but it passes me off.. for example, they show this short video that shows a child dying, shows her father crying as he visits her grave...and then she is reunited with her family in "the new system" and then it shows a handicapped girl who is sad she can't ice skate with friends...fast forward to tns, she can skate!!!
then an elderly couple is shown happily young again.... .
and of course the end is "so close!

'Hey There', you confirmed my long- held suspicion that someday the GB would proclaim companion-animals to be 'un-necessary'. I certainly HOPE a large percentage of JWs don't fall for that BS, and choose their animals over the Watchtower. JWs for the most part, from my experience, don't treat their animals very well. After all, animals can't go out in service and donate funds to the Organization. I knew an Elder in Texas whose cat had a litter of kittens. They 'dumped' the kittens in a nearby neighborhood. Cruel and heartless!!! Typical!!

The problems Bible believers have with Atheists is the burden of proof is on the Believer and we just do not have enough proof.
by booker-t ini recently posted a post telling this board my athesit coworker stumped me with questions about the validity of the ark story and i just cannot stop talking to her.
i love hearing her side and point of view which in the past i would have dismissed as "satanic" thinking.
she has some very good questions and i am having a hard time answering them.

If 'Jehovah' was REALLY a just ruler, he would do away with all humans and leave the Earth to the animals. At least animals don't ruin the Earth's environment like humans do.

What to do when my wife is away for a week and I am supposed to attend this years RC?
by suavojr ineasy... skip it!.
but already i had people calling me asking where i was yesterday!!!!
the system the jw's have in place can be compared to a communist regime , where everyone keeps a check on each other.

Don't go tomorrow. Should anyone inquire as to your absence, tell them: 'I'm afraid I was projectile-vomiting last night and just felt worn- out today'. That ought to shut them up.

Just say, if asked a 'theocratic' question: 'I'm sorry, but i don't feel up to having a spiritual discussion today. I'll let you know when I feel better'. Repeat as necessary. Then drop the subject.

Thoughts of summer and ummmmm
by new hope and happiness inmaybe i still have the j.w mentality, but i am seriouse....why on hot summer days do the youngsters wear such gloomy colors?
it makes little sence,.. o.k maybe they are rebelling, and there hearts are in the right place, but why can't they rebel in cheerful bright orage tea-shirts, especially during the summer months.
but there you go ugggg beautiful girls in such dark and gloomy colors ...its summer girls make an old man feel glad.. .

Why do young people wear dark, gloomy colors in the summer?? They are just following that age-old prerogative of Youth: Irritating the older generations.

JW.org says that the Bible knew that the earth was suspended in empty space
by opusdei1972 in"the earth is suspended in empty space.
(job 26:7) many ancient peoples believed that the world was a flat disk supported by a giant or an animal, such as a buffalo or a turtle.".

I was hearing this same stuff back in the 1980s. Yawn!!! They really need to get some new material. They just keep repeating the same nonsense decade after decade. No wonder half the Witnesses are on Prozac.

Rules on blood also apply to our pets
by Splash inwhile researching something else, i came across these two comments from a wt on how we should view the blood issue, when it comes to our pets.. *** w64 2/15 p. 127 questions from readers ***.
"would it be a violation of the scriptures for a christian to permit a veterinarian to give blood transfusions to a pet?
by all means, to do so would be a violation of the scriptures.".

So am I to assume that all the members of the GB have never eaten a steak? Don't steaks contain blood? To avoid being branded as hypocrites, all GB members, DOs, COs and Elders should be Vegans.....if not, why not???

What would the ideal racial demographic be for the Governing Body?
by LogCon inthe number of white men on the governing body has often come up for discussion.
the negro member has been called the 'token black.
' no reflection on his race, but it just seems odd that with the great number of witnesses around the world, in such a variety of countries, that every member, but one, is white.. in your opinion, [with 8 as the target number].

Hopefully soon they will all be 6-feet under......then their racial makeup won't be a concern at all.....

shepherding call
by DesirousOfChange inyou don't say why you are inactive.. if you can control your tongue and not blurt out anything you have learned about ttatt, then perhaps no harm in agreeing to a visit if you feel the need to be polite and cooperative.
no doubt, they will inquire as to why you are inactive.. don't you know it's the truth(tm)?.
don't you know the end(tm) is close?.

Here's what you need to tell them when they ask to meet with you: 'Oh, sorry, I'm having some personal problems that are between me and Jehovah. Thank you for your concern. I will contact you when I feel up to discussing things. Have a nice day.'. That should end the matter. If they persist, just repeat what you already told them. Their only option will be to go away.
