I am just waiting for the time when a super-intelligent alien species makes contact with humankind. I suspect they will dismiss all this religion stuff as just so much rubbish. It might even turn out that THEY seeded the Earth with the beginnings of Life, countless eons ago. I hope that ends up being the case. Then we can forget all that 'God' nonsense.

Years ago, when I was studying with the Witnesses, my Bible Studty conductor's sister in Ohio died. Of cancer as I recall. So he flew back to Ohio ( from San Diego ) to be with his family . That night when I went to the meeting at the KH, announcements were made. I expected there to be some mention that his sister had passed away. But not a thing was said. Later, I asked an Elder why there was no mention of the sisters death. The elder replied: 'Oh, she wasn't a Jehovah's Witness anyway'. That comment, among quite a few others, is what turned me away from being a Witness. It seems that JWs really don't have much emotional sympathy regarding a person's death, unless that person was a Witness. They seem cold-hearted unless it's a Witness. Same when they hear about natural disasters. They say: 'I hope no Witnesses were harmed'. Has anyone else heard similar comments from JWs??

The Witnesses think that almost everything in the Bible is referring to themselves. The Revelation book is a perfect example of this. A typical sign of being a cult: thinking that they, and only they, are the ONE religion the God picked as the ONLY one 'he' will deign to communicate with. JWs even think the BIBLE itself was written ONLY for themselves. Any educated person can easily see that this type of thinking is utterly nonsensical. Self-importance is the Witnesses most prominent trait.

Do you think that the Jehovahs Witness religion would be better /worse if their were an equal number of male/female on the G.B.?
by smiddy inof course this is a hypothetical question , it will never happen .?
but what if it did , what do you think the society would be like if it did happen .?.
let your imaginations run wild .

Hopefully no self-respecting woman would want to lower herself by accepting a position in the GB. Any woman who agreed to serve on the GB would undoubtedly be just as much of a fossilized nobody as the current male members are. Uneducated, self-important dunces, the lot of them!!!

Questions From Readers 1957 watchtower : Guess who was Armageddon in 1957?
by raymond frantz indon't be confused .when i say who i mean who because back in 1957 jehovah's witnesses didn't believe that armageddon was just the gathering of the kings of the earth to battle with the invisible armies of jesus' angels.no ,armageddon was more than that and it did fit bible account far more than it does today .. read the post below which contains a 1957 question from readers (please let me know if the page is displaying correctly on your browser).
is armageddon a place ?.

That explanation about Armageddon is even more bizarre than the Scientology tale of the galactic warlord Xenu who put people into volcanos. Anyone taking this Armageddon story seriously needs to immediately check themselves into the nearest locked mental ward. It's no wonder that tripe like this drives away young people, who easily see how insane it all is. It's all just a product of a very negative, pessimistic world-view.

ARE GB MEMBERS BECOMING MORE SENILE LATELY?
by NAVYTOWN insome of the ramblings of the gb members seem to indicate impending senility.
for example, anotony morris (the turd) and his idiotic 'tight pants' monologue is a perfect example.
did folks who attended this summer's conventions hear any statements from the gb members that would indicate they might be in early stages of senility?

Certainly the talks given have a 'not all there' quality to them. It's scary to think their whims are dictating the actions of over seven million worldwide JWs.

Why Do Witnesses Promote A Unhealthy Lifestyle, My COBE weighs 340lbs (5ft 7in).
by BucketShopBill inplease don't take this the wrong way if your battling weight problems, that's not what this thread is meant to talk about.
i am asking this question because jehovah's witnesses claim they have "the best way of life", "god's blessing", "the truth" and are trying to change the habits of healthy people by turning them in to their own makings.
i watched people who were great athletes turn all their muscle in to fat because we would get a elder or circuit overseer make remarks they were spending too much time "working out" and "bodily training is beneficial for little".

To me, it seems the Witnesses don't worry about their health now, because they think all will be corrected in Paradise. My Bible Study conductor had very high blood pressure, but he told me he wasn't concerned because he was wanting to live in Paradise Earth as soon as possible. How is neglecting high blood pressure any less damaging than smoking tobacco? So overeating is perfectly acceptable but smoking one cigarette will get you expelled. Makes no sense at all. The only solution for health-minded JWs is to GET OUT of the religion as soon as possible! Your life depends on it!

Why is the world full of ATHEISTS?
by exWTslave inbible describes atheism as a condition of the heart and is all about seeking what is ephemeral, not acting with insight.
(psalm 14:1, 2) thus it rightly says the whole world is lying in the attraction of what is ephemeral.
(wicked one is not a correct translation.1 john 5:19) thus even believers who pray to god (for material blessings) are actually atheists as they are not trying to be poor in spirit.

The main reason why atheists reject the God-myth is because they refuse to engage in Magical Thinking. The concept of 'miracles' is a prime example of Magical thinking. Any positive event that occurs for which there is no KNOWN explanation is called a Miracle from God. Without any concrete proof whatsoever, God is seen as the cause. Things we take for granted now, such as solar and lunar eclipses were once considered to be 'signs from God'. So atheists reject Magical thinking by not automatically using the 'God-Myth' to explain unusual occurrences. Like I always tell people: REALITY is my religion!!

Nov 2014 WT, much about nothing, or is it?
by Quarterback inthe article "why we must be holy" ties in obedience as being holy.
there is a subheading in this article that states " prove yourselves holy by being obedient".
par 9 quotes three brothers who had some conflicts, but they went along with the org.

I think 'Holy' is a total nonsense word. What does it really mean to be 'holy' anyway? Does it mean trying to live according to the dictates of a 2000 year old 'holy' book?? How does anyone 'become Holy'.....by following the man-made rules of some man-made religion? In fact, calling something Holy is a way to put it beyond criticism......as if you cannot argue with anyone who is declared Holy. In whose opinion are they Holy??? What are the criteria for labeling anything as Holy? I think it's high time the word 'Holy' is put out to pasture. It's just silly.

I think this proves that the idea of so-called 'Holy Spirit' actually directing the building of that San Diego mansion was just a figment of Rutherford's fevered imagination. The JWs are fond of saying the Holy Spirit directed this or that, when in reality the Holy Spirit is the product of extreme wishful thinking. Most of the predictions attributed to Holy Spirit turn out to be bogus....not a good track record. That Holy Spirit somehow directs the senile ramblings of the Governing Body is really an idiotic assumption. Totally laughable.
