Tourette's Syndrome. LOL. When you are reading, every few paragraphs loudly say 'BULLSHIT!!!' and then just continue reading as usual. When asked about this later, just say you have Tourette's and can't help it. I doubt that you will be asked to read in the future.

Common feature of religions: explaining life after death
by NAVYTOWN ini am certainly no expert when it comes to the various religions that exist, but i notice most of them have a common feature.
they almost all try to in some way 'explain' death or else state that death is not really the end.
the bottom line is that in actuality nobody has any definite factual proof that we can live beyond the moment of our physical death.

Well, it just seems that religious people spend so much time worrying about DEATH that they forget how to LIVE. JWs are a prime example.....always moaning and groaning about today's life and dreaming of a future Paradise Earth where they will 'finally' be happy.

They almost all try to in some way 'explain' death or else state that death is not really the end. The bottom line is that in actuality NOBODY has any definite factual PROOF that we can live beyond the moment of our physical death. Religions dream up some very comforting myths about Paradise Earth, Heaven, Valhalla, Reincarnation, etc. All to make the 'horrible' idea of our eventual death easier to bear. What is really so scary about admitting that we really do not know if anything lies beyond the moment of death? If we just die and are gone forever, so be it. When you really think about it, what is so all-important about individual humans that they should somehow get to 'live forever'??? Isn't that the height of egotistical self-importance? Folks, it's 2014.....why are we still so overly concerned about dying????? Come up to Present Time and fully enjoy the life you have NOW.

The Marketing gurus at Watchtower Headquarters are just borrowing a page from the playbook of multi-level marketing ( MLM ) outfits. In order to keep the revenue stream flowing, the companies SELL items to their own salespeople. In MLM they sell endless motivational CDs, DVDs, and seminars to their sales force, and they hold big rah-rah motivational 'conventions' in major cities to pump up enthusiasm. Of course the Salespeople have to foot the fees for these events, plus travel and hotel expenses, etc. Sound familiar??? So now the Watchtower sells loads of tacky JW.ORG crap to it's own members. At a profit, no doubt. Plus they expect members of modest means to travel long distances to 'international' conventions AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE!!! And they exert pressure for extra donations, to top it off! So essentially the Witnesses are in actuality now a Multi-level Marketing Scheme.....preying on the own members, aka: victims. So next time a JW gushes to you about all the wonderful JW.ORG merchandise, ask them: 'WHO exactly is BUYING all that stuff? Is it the general public or is it the rank & file Witnesses buying it themselves?'

Killing In Self Defense
by Cold Steel inthe man was moving around in the darkness of j's home with a gun.
he was certain j. and his family weren't there, but he was wrong.
when a door suddenly opened and a dark figure fumbled for the hallway light, he had only a moment to act.

The obvious solution to this dilemma: The householder should just let the legal system sort it out. Then he should tell the Elders to Suck Balls if they don't like the outcome. If they make ANY moves to DF him, the best bet is to tell the Elders to piss off and then walk out of the KH for good. Problem solved!!

Why are you spending even a second trying to figure out that jerk's motivations? He made it clear that he wants nothing to do with you. Don't go licking his boots now, trying to make him 'like' you. Move on and meet new people who have no connection to that idiotic religion. Don't keep trying to dig up the past.

Watchtower sitting on potential goldmine of millions of non-JW memorial attenders
by yadda yadda 2 inlast year's "letter from the governing body" (on jw.org) notes:.
"last year, the memorial attendance was 19,241,252. how encouraging to see so many honor jehovah and jesus christ by attending the most important meeting of the year for gods people!".
that's about 12 million or so non-jw's who go to the memorial only, a good % of whom are evidently at least somewhat sympathetic or curious about the jw's, but for various reasons have no desire to commit to the religion.. .

It's really very simple: For the most part, JW congregations are made up of life's losers, eccentrics, and essentially simple-minded souls. Why would anyone who is a 'winner' at the game of life even want to be associated with such a down-at-the-heels fringe group??? Not to mention the fact that their beliefs are sheer lunacy and the result of intense brainwashing. The only non-JWs who attend the Memorial are either unbelieving mates or family members who go to humor their deluded relatives. Add in a few genuine freaks and oddballs and there you have it. It's not rocket-science, folks!

Of course the born-again Christian typed will be raising Holy Hell about Satanist literature being allowed in school libraries. They think only THEIR brand of spirituality should be permitted. The best bet is to ask them what OTHER works would they disallow.....Jewish books, Hindu Books. Mormon books, Muslim books, etc. Same with allowing prayer in schools.....WHOSE prayers would be permitted? This is exactly why I consider Fundamentalist Christianity to be a CULT. They think THEIR truth is the ONLY truth. No other views permitted.

Leaving the JWs, experiencing Christianity and finding freedom! (But it took awhile)
by im_free inthis is my first post here.. i was raised in "the truth", and am an ex-bethelite who worked in brooklyn for several years back in the 90's.
a few years after i left bethel, i started to become disillusioned after doing research about the society and reading crisis of conscience (i know..i wasn't supposed to do that lol).
i eventually stopped attending meetings and going out in service.

I'm Free: I bounced around a lot after leaving the Witnessed. I have pretty much given up on having any belief system that purports to explain everything. Not having all the answers is an OK place to be. I agree about religions....they are just pre-packaged sets of beliefs that people are expected to buy into. No thanks. I think there is more to life and the Universe than we can know, but I don't think religion has the answer to it. I try to steer clear of engaging in Magical Thinking.....comforting fairy-tales that someone just dreamed up. What happens after death should not be our main concern. What happens, happens. The important thing is to come up to Present Time and live life fully NOW, making the most of the time we are alive. My advice is to research ALL faith traditions, not just Christianity. Then you will have a wider view of things.
