I would be very interested to know if ANYONE other than JWs shows up for the Memorial. From my last time attending, it seemed that any non-JWs would feel VERY out of place. The program seemed to be totally geared to people who were already Witnesses. All that Bible-flipping would be a total turnoff to the uninitiated. Plus the sight of nobody partaking of the emblems would seem VERY bizarre.

What happened to the "Witness" part of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by donny ini just got back from my afternoon walk/run and about a block from home i saw two sets of jw's going door to door handing out invites to the memorial.. the first pair walked past me and only said "good afternoon" as they passed.. about two minutes later the second pair approached me and handed me an invite to 2014 memorial on april 14. i asked them why they chose the jw's as their church of choice and was told "we'd like to chat more but we have a set number of invites we have to get out before the memorial.
if you contact the kingdom hall listed here, they will tell you more... on how god's kingdom will rid the world of satan and the evil associated with him.".
i replied "you can't talk now?".

Over 7yrs as a JW and I just found out I'm not supposed to buy Girl Scout Cookies?
by Maat13 ini'm still in the matrix(the truth), but 'morpheus' and his team are valiantly working on a way to get me out.
in the meantime, everyday i am discovering so much about being a jw i never knew, like don't buy girl scout cookies, that i keep asking myself "what have i got myself into".. maat.
really lame for a first post, but i figure i should start some where.

What sane religion tells it's members what type of COOKIES to buy or not buy????? That alone should cause any prospective member to run for the hills. A religion should help a person live a good life and seek greater spirituality, not micromanage it's member's private lives. My advice is to drop the Witnesses like a hot potato.

Anything that's said on this forum about JWs pales in comparison to what JWs and the GB say and do regarding 'apostates' and 'worldly' people. Please think of all the ways the Watchtower Uses and abuses it's members and disfellowshipped folks. Any organization the promotes the shunning of family members needs to be exposed as the hurtful, manipulative cult it is.

CO's & DO's age 70+ to be laid off on 9/1/14

friend from north carolina, he told me yesterday that they just got a letter that all traveling overseers (do's & co's) age 70 & up are going to be laid off on 09/01/2014.
they will be asssigned to local congregations and further details are pending.. .

Back in the 80s the non-JW sister of my Bible Study conductor died in another state. During the announcements at the KH his sister's death wasn't mentioned. I expressed my puzzlement to an Elder as to why nothing was said. His reply: 'Well, she wasn't a Jehovah's Witness anyway.'

The guy who conducted my Bible Study tested his blood pressure at my house and it was around 210/100. He said he wasn't going to worry about it because he was looking forward to being resurrected anyway so didn't care if he died soon.

JW parents are CRAZY
by Demokan inhello again, for those who don't know me i'm a 15 year old boy.
and recently my mom is displaying symptoms of demensia, she left the stove on today and she yells at us for watching commercials on t.v that are "demonic" because today there was a commercial on television for the new 300 movie and she started yelling at my sister to turn it off, and then i was listening to coldplay as a playlist while doing my school work and she started yelling at me to turn the demonic music off.
she says "demonic" this "demonic" that.

One option you could use is to make an appointment with your school counselor. Then tell him/ her about your troubles at home. You might get some helpful advice. At least it will possibly help to talk to someone about all that's happening. Ask whether there might be a weekly support group you could join. And find some activities that will keep you busy and away from the home environment as much as possible. Anyway, I really wish the best for you.

Just make absolutely SURE there is no pregnancy until you get this situation resolved. Birth control, condoms...whatever works!!!
