Smiddy, the Book of Enoch is also used in some of the Slavic Orthodox churches. There is also a version that is called Slavonic Book of Enoch, sometimes called the II Enoch or Secret of Enoch. It was written in glagolic script and used in Old Slavonic church probably 860 onwards, but later forgotten.

This new donation direction and true selfishness!
by stuckinarut2 inso we all know about this new donation arrangement.?.
every cong is supposed to send in all their savings to the society for them to allocate or use however they see fit worldwide.. but here is where true "selfishness" has become apparent!
(remember just this last weekend the wt study was all about not being "selfish" or self willed??!!).

Money is something that pisses all my JW relatives. This is major source of their complain against the Borg, more than flip flopping doctrines and unfullfilled prophesies. I just talked to my mom over the Mother's Day and we ended talking about the finances that she put into KH. She said that each congregation is required to sent a specific amount of money to local branch office every month. However, she did not know that the branch office was closed (puzzled face). She told me that one sister donated entire her pension into KH (about $600) only to find out that the money were not used for local KH but were sent away which made her very angry and caused public argument at KH with elders. And these are monies on top of the KH maintenance and assemblies. They also have to support CO, pay his gas and travel expenses, provide cooking, laundry, etc.

not to mention broken natural laws like floating axe, man living in a whale belly, talking dunkey, or sun moving during the battle to extend daylight.

Another Blow To Anglo-American World Power
by metatron inhttp://www.universetoday.com/111820/moscow-delivers-double-whammy-to-us-space-efforts-bans-rockets-engines-for-military-use-wont-prolong-iss-work/.
i'm surprized at the speed at which these foolish missteps by the us keep happening.
you may see a powerful move against the dollar by russia and its allies before this fall.

Anything that is falling is right now Russian ruble. Russia with economy of 1/6 of that EU or USA has no way to challenge either regions. Russia itself is 1/2 of power of former USSR and is getting isolated every day with its military adventures in Ukraine. In any case the Bajkonur closure for USA space program will only hurt Russia. USA can find another way to work on its own space program.
BTW it was not Churchill who disolved British empire, it was Adolf Hitler and Japan that bancrupted it. Even today, 70 years after WWII, Britain trails in almost every measure behind Germany or France. Both countries have larger middle class.

So, there are about 240 congregations in Czech Republic. If each gives in equivalent $1500 per month, the branch will receive about $4.32 million in cash per year. This is without memorials and assemblies. So in comparison the Coca-Cola had after tax profit in Czech Republic in 2010 equivallent $12.2 millions that was distributed to shareholders.

I think it is wordwide, because I am in overseas and my relatives are scattered through several Eastern Europe countries and I was told by all of them that the demand for money was increasing. They say it is still voluntary, but people who do not donate much are looked as spiritually weak. The box is put in place so everyone could see if you donate and how much (as was 20 years ago when I was in KH). Other told me that money demand is turning into extorsion like give give give money. The field hours became secondary and they ask for donations even when people do not attend KH meeting due illness, job situation, travel, or other issues. I was told by relative that branch is asking money from entire congregation in the amount of 30000 Czech crowns (1USD = 20CZ) per month on top of the other expenses like utilities for KH, etc. I understand the maintenance issues and utilities, the KH was paid by our local JW donations and was finilized 20 years ago, but the money are called operational expenses for [closed] branch. I will ask my relatives in Prague, CZ and in Slovakia how much they donate in cash per KH.
One advantage of small cities, things do not stay secret.

What is the biggest regret or source of resentment because of being a Jehovahs Witness?
by stuckinarut2 ini'm sure we could all write long paragraphs about this question, but in a few words, what is your biggest regret, or frustration in life due to being a witness?.
what missed opportunities did it cost you?

I have several, some of them that cannot be repaired anymore:
- My father after studying with JW aunt did not accept the BS and our family felt apart. He spent most of the time with his mom and eventually died while he supposed to be her caregiver. He never divorced, but moving him out left us in deep poverty. I am up to this point terrified of poverty and to starve without financial resources. Hunger was really bad. With my father passing, I could never tell him that I appreaciate his sacrifices and his desire to have functional family.
- I enjoyed sports like jogging and swimming. I could get professional training from the school, but was not able to pursue it even when school tried to recommend me into the county training.
- I was not encouraged with university education, so I started late. I got my bachelor degree when I was 30 in time when most of the people were settled with their career.
- My sybling is still deeply in, and we lost 20 years of deep relationship. I live without much knowing my nieces and nephews in my life. I sometimes feel I am total stranger who do not know who I am.

The Josephus Problem
by HowTheBibleWasCreated insomeone made a comment today that josephus cannot be trusted as a historical source.
they are right or half right.
obviously josephus was a self-centered historian.

Historians tends to have own agenda. This is nothign new and was a part of the propaganda of the state. For example historian Livy became famous for his history of the Roman Empire during his lifetime. Others attempted to justify reign of specific ruler and were a part of the administration like Dio Cassius or Procopius. Josephus is cited as author whose presence was recorded the Roman suppression of Jewish revolt. Often, there are no other historians to verify the fact. However, the preserved manuscripts were written 1000 years after the fact and were copied from older source. This does not mean that they were incorrect. Caroligne Europe in the 750-814 preserved many Greek and Roman authors in the monasteries that would be otherwise forgotten.

I am not sure on this concept. I only upheld that we know with certianity that we have this life and we should make the best of it and make the best impressiono upon society. This life, our abilities, our perseverance is the only thing we can be sure. Everything afterward is a speculation. My Jewish family and friends are undecided on the subject of afterlife, and Bible is not clear on it either. One side inside me wants me to believe that there is something after the death, other side says it is nonsense.
