Black Dog Of Depression.
by Englishman ini used to suffer with depression.

Thanks for the post Englishman. My mother has just been diagnosed with the big D, and since then most of her close JW friends have been avoidiing her. She gets the occational visit from the Elders telling her that she should reenter the pioneer school to help with her problems.
Since the diagnosis, my sisters and I have made a real effort to include mum in everything. Physical activities seem to help her the most and she's enjoying helping out when I take the kids swimming. Like you, I've given her a few paperback novels to read (which she hasnt done in decades).
The best part was when she accepted my invitation for X-mas dinner. She even bought a few prezzies for the kids!!!! (My wife nearly fainted) and even though she was very quiet throughout dinner, she did enjoy herself. (and I promised not to tell anyone..Ooops)
All the best Eman

Christian Freedom - Ray Franz
by Noumenon inin the foreword of ray franz's book 'in search of christian freedom', he says: .
"there is yet another, very significant, side to the matter.
many persons seek only a negative freedom.

Many seem so consumed by bitterness and ill-feeling toward the organisation that they seem mired in a permanent state of negativity, some even losing all faith in God and Christ and lapsing into agnoticism, atheism, or giving free reign to the desires of the flesh in all it's various forms.
Isn't it time to learn to move on to something more positive....to real freedom...
Oh my God. Is this a joke? Methinks maybe you stayed a little too long as a Hovah, and are having problems getting rid of some of their irritating, patronizing ways...Mmmm?
BTW, Thanks for the laugh this morning Avishai, that was a real treat!

Feb 15 Watchtower: Apostates - Guard Against Deception
by truthseeker infeb 15 watchtower: apostates - guard against deception
don't you wish this were the real title of the 2nd study article?
well, it is, minus the word apostate.

Sadly, I can only imagine that this article WILL prevent a lot of witnesses from listening to the truth about the "truth". This is the kind of article that witnesses I know will quote from whenever I mention an internet article or a point of reasoning.
However, it does show that the Watchtower Inc. are frightened of the effects sites like this are having, and that can only be a good thing.

Have you ever been dobbed in, and for what??????????
by BLISSISIGNORANCE intoday was a good day.
saturday, no witnessing, no meeting prep, no skirt and no dubs, no rush to do anything in particular, went to the mall to get some things, bumped into my brother (non dub) and his partner and my 3yo neice, had coffee with them and hubby, chatted, came home, kelpie dropped by to visit, went grocery shopping with my neighbour, ......................just to mention a few things.
doing what i wanted to do!.

There was a massive witchhunt just before I got married. The local Elders had heard that my future wife and I were "doing the do" before our wedding day. Apparently while they were interviewing a DF person for re-instatement, he said that he'd seen us kissing at a bus stop. The phone calls to anyone that knew us started and gossip went around the KH like fire. When that failed to get the results they were looking for, they phoned my sister who had just left home because of the Dubs. My sister told them what she thought of them while using as many F-words and C-words as possible. She also warned them that if they messed around with her kid brothers wedding, she'd be sending her boyfriend around to have a personal "chat" with this Elder. When the Elder hung up, she dialed 1471, and called him back to continue her rant! Needless to say, our wedding day went ahead as planned!
Thanks sis

They print these books with the hope that they will be able to keep young ones in the organization.
Thats one reason. The other reason is money.

Hidden Images in the JW Publications
by Hunyadi ini am a disfellowshipped brother and have never had a problem with the organization's doctrines.
i am, however, deeply disturbed at the undeniable use of hidden or subliminal images in the illustrations of the wt publications.
there are so many that it cannot be interpreted as anything other than a deliberate pattern.

Nice site, but what is the purpose of hiding a dogs face, an S on a hand or a happy bush? If you have a theory, maybe thats something you can include on your site. I'm inclined to think its the art department playing sillybuggers.

How much of the bible do JW's really use?
by blindfool ini've noticed over the last several weeks how often the same scriptures are used in meetings at the kingdom hall.. anytime galatians is mentioned you can just about be sure you are going to look up chapter 5 ver.
19.. 2 timothy is going to be 3: 16. i can't remember considering any addional text to get the context of the verse, just reading the same verses over and over.
i'm sure most of you can name lots more scriptures used by jw's.. i think i'm going to start taking notes at meetings and listing which verses are used, then i can look from week to week and see how often the same old verses are considered.

Blind,
If you do manage to work out how often singular scriptures are repeated time and again I would be interested in knowing the results.
