You can't just copy an image (like a jpeg) from your computer and paste it? I've tried to do it and can't find a way. Ctrl-V and Shift-Insert don't work. Neither does the paste button in the tool bar above.

Nice. I've been spending a lot of time doing volunteer work for animal welfare. The return I've received from many precious animals is far more than I ever got from JWs.

some thing to consider for bible believers
by Crazyguy inthe oldest in tact bible found is the codex voronicus, (miss spelled) and the oldest writings ever found were the greek septuagint written by jews in alexandria.
both of these collections of writings included the apocryphal and other writings like chapters and other verses of daniel not included in the jw bible.
so the question one must ask, is if your a bible believer how can you just throw out these writings, because reading these additional writings will change your understanding of what you have learned?.

OneEyedJoe - I, too, as JW just figured that Jah was guiding the process.

This is a subject that I've been giving a lot of thought to lately; I'm really interested in it, but right now I'm ignorant about it. As a JW, I didn't have time to research such. I honestly believe that's one of the main reasons (if not the main reason) the org keeps JWs so busy - so they won't have time to question and research such things.
Crazyguy (or anybody else), please, if you have any book recommendations on the subject, list them.

Ask them whether they were at the district convention in the summer of 1985 when it was announced very seroulsy at the end that the UN was recognizing 1986 as the "International Year of Peace". It was indicated by the speaker that this could be significant. This was only the second time in all my JW experience that everything got quiet enough to hear a pin drop. JWs talkied about it for a while afterward, but it just fizzled.

JW's just called at my door, simply handed me the JW.ORG tract and left! JW's now mere leaflet distributors.
by yadda yadda 2 ini'm off work today and its a monday morning.
a male and female jw just knocked on my door, i opened it, the guy just handed me their latest website promoting tract saying "hi, were just leaving these with people today", and then he made to leave.
i looked at the tract and then looked at him as he was turning to walk away and said to him "ok, thanks, but ummm you could've just left it in my letterbox.".

Hello
by lurkernomore ini thought it was high time to introduce myself (without my name of course).
as my name would suggest i have been reading your intriguing post, thoughts and discussions for some time now.
around 3/4 months to be exact.. i guess to start with it would seem fitting to give a little background on my current situation.. i'm a born-in, but have over the last few years found that through a number of varying occurences, (some of which i may discuss in future posts) that my 'zeal' has gone from regular field service and meetings to no service in over a year and very sporadic meeting attendance.

It's strange how quickly something you've held dear for so long just kind of crumbles before your eyes.
I've been losing zeal and questioning and doubting more for about the last fifteen or twenty years. However, it did really start to quickly crumble in the last year or two. I'm still processing the fact that it has almost completely crumbled. In the late 80s and early 90s, I thought JWs had the one and only truth and that the end was imminent, and I was super zealous. Now all that is almost completely gone. I'm still processing it. I'm still grappling with the idea of mortality. I had big plans for my supposedly eternal future.

hello everyone
by purrpurr ini've been browsing the site for some time as things that the society teach just are not adding up much these days.
by exploring some of the threads on here i'm starting to see why.
a brief bio.

Yet the society says that its good that it [the end ] hasn't come yet because more people have had the chance to come into the truth
Their reasoning never made sense to me. There are more and more people born every day. No matter when it comes (if it comes at all), there will be people who don't get a "chance to come into the truth". In fact, since more people are being born today than they were a few decades ago, there will actually be MORE who don't get a chance than there would have been then.
none of the watchtower pubs are giving me the answers
Me, either. You're smarter than the rest. They think they have the answers, but clearly they don't. There is clearly something wrong in JW land.

Wow! I can really relate to what you said.
things that the society teaches just are not adding up much
I agree. I always had questions and there were always things that didn’t make sense, but I thought I would gain more understanding as time passed. The opposite occurred. Not only did I not get my questions answered, but now I even question the things I thought made sense.
I've been questioning ever since the new light on the 1914 generation.
I think the 1995 generation change is when I really started questioining/doubting, too.
I was there when it was changed in 1995 and to see it change yet again it just seems like the GB are just trying to explain why the new system isn't here yet.
They had to make the 1995 change because the time limit ran out on the doctrine in 1994 (1914 + 80yrs max). The idea they presented in 1995 was really gray and fuzzy and didn’t elicit excitement and actually dampened excitement because it made it seem that the generation could just go on and on with no time limit. The latest teaching, I believe, was brought about because it seems to have a time limit, thus keeping JWs excited about the end, but it also buys the org time because the end of the generation could be decades in the future.
I'm also not happy that the books that I grew up studying are now out of date
I’m not happy about that, either. I constantly think about all the hours that I spent going to Congregation Book Studies when we studied the old deeper prophetic books (mostly Fred Franz stuff). I think about all the time I listened to older ones excitedly discussing the prophecies and explanations presented in those books. Now, for the most part, it’s all forgotten. It seems that the org is abandoning and even trying to hide that era. The org wants to be able to start all over with a new image.
And please be nice to me I'm just a learner about all this it seems...
You seem to have a humble attitude. I believe that’s important. If you keep that attitude, you should feel free to ask or say anything you want on this site.
