Anyone interested in cyber sex?
by RubyTuesday innow that i have your attention.
with the total anonymity available on-line, is it truly cheating, to flirt with, tease, or even "have sex" with someone via your computer?
is this the same as actually committing adultery, or is it just generally "harmless" fun?

Would you ever shun?
by ozziepost ini was asked that question today, or words just like it, is it ever right for a christian to shun?.
don't the scriptures instruct it?.
well, what would your answer be?

There are several elders that I shun. Their conduct disproves their professed faith, so I absolutely refuse to acknowledge them, and have told them so. Should have seen the look on their faces when I told them they were disfellowshipped as far as I was concerned. Interesting how they won't look me in the face now, but run like scared dogs.

the king of the north
by Curious Mind inwhat is the latest incarnation of the king of the north in dubland as i had an elder tell me on sunday that the muslim nations were the king now.
i had not heard that before and it seems to me that they are just pulling anybody out of their arse as the king as they become more influential, how many times are they going to get it wrong before people wake up to it?

Perhaps the real King of the North is the Bethel CIA (aka Service Department) with Ted Jaracz as vassal King.

Just wait until they find out the elders won't let them have a KH Funeral..
by Elsewhere inonly baptised jws in good standing can do that....

It's true the local body will decide, based on the "notariety" of a particular case, whether or not the KHall can be used. As to a funeral at a Funeral Home, that generally is left up to the individual elder, though some hard-nosed congregations might like to have some say or all the say.
In the past I have done funerals for some who others might not have, suicides, etc. However I believe funerals are for the living. Caring for people is our real assignment, I think, from Jehovah. Non-JW, JW, fading JW. All have the need for kindness and fellow-feeling. Something the WTBS is sorely missing these days.

We've had the 2003 edition for about a month, courtesy of some Bethel friends.
The new twist this year is links to maps. Click on a Biblical city referenced in a publication and up pops the map from the new map booklet. Pull up the map booklet and click on a city name and up pops the reference in the Insight book(s).
Also still included is the pronounceable names section.. Click on a Bible name and you have the option to hear the name pronounced.

The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society is...Outsourcing
by truthseeker ini received news from an elder i know in another congregation.
he told me that things are changing in the way that bethel is running its operations.. i was informed that bethel no longer makes its own ink, but buys it from other companies.. even in the bethel kitchens, there is no more watchtower chicken - meat is bought from outside, this i believe also goes for milk and dairy products too.. can anyone confirm this?
i have reason to believe it is probably true.. i wonder what would happen if the wt suppliers go out of business?

Lyman Swingle was once in charge of making the ink
... hence his long-time nick name "inky Swink"

What is WT procedure for ...
by Galimo inwhat would be the correct and approved procedure for a "prodigal" son or daughter to come back to the society?.
i have this ex-girlfriend who is also babtized and lived a very wild life outside the organization, without ever getting kicked.
she moved a lot from city to city so nobody really noticed or knew.. now she said she repents and found jehova again and is going back.. live and let live, fine with me.. lol.. i only had written correspondence in the last decades with her.. i remarked that the proper way would be for her to go to the elders and "confess" all her sins.

Last Thursday's Service Meeting
by SadElder inin the event you had the misfortune to miss thursday's service meeting.
1. boring announcements and an equally frustratng review of what needs to be done to prepare for the memorial.
as if all in attendance needed to be involved in bringing the glasses, wine, bread, and the appropriate accoutrements.. 2. a 20 minute review of how to place the time and location on the memorial invitation.

In the event you had the misfortune to miss Thursday's Service Meeting here is an update:
1. Boring announcements and an equally frustratng review of what needs to be done to prepare for the memorial. As if all in attendance needed to be involved in bringing the glasses, wine, bread, and the appropriate accoutrements.
2. A 20 minute review of how to place the time and location on the Memorial invitation. Should it be on the front or back? on and on ad naseum. Who should be invited, etc.
3. A 20 minute "class???" on how to use the new map publication. An invigorating 4th grade review of how to look up a city on a map. Pardon me while I find a barf bag.

Do you still have a nice handwriting?
by JH inmore than ever, we use our computers and printers to write whatever we need to write.
it's neat and we can edit our mistakes without anybody noticing.
but on the other hand, we practise less and less our handwriting.
