while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.
what direction is your foot going now?

For current/former elders & CO's - A day in the life of a service report
by truthseeker inthis question is especially directed at those who dealed with field service reports.
i have yet to read a post which describes in detail the life cycle of one of these annoying slips of paper.. so.... at the end of the month, we put our fake hours into the box at the back of the hall or give them to the congregation book study conductor overseer.
who is responsible for tabulating the hours/books/rv's etc.

Served as Secretary for many years until I resigned and served as sub CO on and off for about 10 years or so. I never was one of those numbers men. I looked more at the overall appearnace of the cong. Were they happy, what was the spirit, etc.? This is not really the norm. Most CO's I know are pompous twits who look at hours as a total barometer of spiritual health. Of course just about everyone here reports of faked reports and wasted time running around in circles within the territory. So whose getting fooled here? The numbers men of course.

Prayers in Restaurants....
by caspian inon bank holiday monday just gone, a dear kind older couple in the cong decided to take me and my good lady out for a slap up meal, to try to cheer us up after the recent upheaval in our life.
somehow i ended up with the bill.. anyway, this was the local italian trattoria were we often go, and are on first names terms with the staff and quite a few of the other regulars.
big mistake!!.

Because my winter home is in the Bible belt so-to-speak many people pray openly at meals. I've always thought it to be a bit of a show. We ve always had our prayer in the car beforehand. But what is really wrong with praying over your meal at the table if done tastefully and not so loud as to offend others?

Cyber equality/Pretty boys lose their edge
by Maverick ini was thinking today about a certain poster who seems to have a hard time dealing with anyone who does not embrace his point of view.
he appears to be one of those big, very good looking men who is use to having people pander to him.
y-all know the type, pretty-boy, who the ladies, starting with momma, always think is wonderful no matter what stupid thing he does or says.

Think of this, there are some 6 million publishers in the world, if evrey pub. got just 2 copies that's half of the printing of each issue. The numbers are much higher than this. How many get thrown away, who would admit it? I get 4 copies of each issue and then when the counter is unattended put three back....

It is interesting to see the realm of diverse posts, some I find informative, some boring, some stupid, and so on. IF we all thought exactly the same, what a boring life. I must admit thatI'm amazed to see that folks have made thousands of posts, I don't often have time to make posts and when I do I'm not in the mood for long philosophical discussions and tend to post on the lighter side of things.

Do Circuit Overseers Give Up Their Lives For Jehovah?
by minimus ini've heard for years how we should really appreciate the circuit overseers and their wives for all that they give up to enter the circuit work... do you think that's true?
?

Please! What the heck do they give up? The last CO we had (read that JERK) used to be a Pepsi truck driver.
CO's in the US now get a new LeSabre every three years. All expenses paid including health benefits plus a small cash stipend from Brooklyn. Oh and of course the paper handshakes are extra little treats when they visit the cong. Had one Co that would only put Goodyear double eagle tires on his Buick Electra. Many get extra things too such as cruises and trips paid for by those looking to suck up.
Can't name one in the last twenty years that was really a gentleman or that I thought highly of. Most are high and mighty asses. The DO's are worse yet. Shame on them. These guys are no tentmakers. They have had their reward in full.
