Of The 5 Meetings, Was There One You Hated More Than The Others?
by minimus inusually, i enjoyed the public talk, if the speaker was good but i thought the theocratic ministry was boring!!!.
the service meeting was just a sales meeting.
the book studies were simply ridiculous.

Donations for literature I would spend at Mc Donald's!!! Sorry!!!
by Witness 007 inin my last 2 years in field service in australia tax laws meant we could no longer offer publications for money or directly ask for a donation.
if the householder asks, we would explain our voluntry work was paid for by donations.
i was suprised how many people would give you $10 or $20 dollars thinking it's going to some good cause....however, i would go and buy some lunch at mc donald's.

you know how many drones still pay for all the literature they get and then HOPE they get enough donations to cover it.................. i knew a crazy fanatical sister who did just that........ she was a pioneer of course and said that if she ever went beyond what she spent for the mags she would contribute the difference.......... i dont think it happened much if ever.
the thing that stuck in my craw about the donation arraingement.................. is after doing it for years........... i find out that in other countrys they were still asking for the donations................ it was ONLY in the countrys where they had to keep that tax exempt status they were forced to go donation.
so they told me.............. if you get a surplus from the actual costs in the us............. it will cover people who cant afford to give anything........... and i took that to mean people in third world countrys............

one point.............. is your husband strong.......... does he take crap from people?......... can he act?
if hes strong enough........... he can refuse to allow them to talk to you at all......... beyond that if they go to plan B which is hounding you at work.......... and they will....... then he can insist that as the head of the house you will not meet with them unless he is there with you.
end result............ they will do what they always have and likely df you in absentee. but there is a slight chance that if your hubby plays the overpowering crazy worldly.............. they could be intemidated and just drop it..... as long as your not out preaching about the evils that org does.
best wishes no matter what comes your way.

Why I never say "run"
by jgnat inyou might be wondering, when i respond to a lovelorn person in love with a witness, why i never say "run"!
believe, me, i understand the huge personal cost when a non-witness gets seriously involved with a witness.
in my situation, i have a lot of mitigating factors that allow me to take greater risks.

yeah excellent point................. always helps them to see reality quickly by the cost.
i knew a brother who was trying to date via internet someone around the world from him............ he realized that it would take at least 10,000 dollars in plane tickets back and forth, before they could meet........... and that wasnt counting any dates or courtship....... or GASP a wedding.
apparently love didnt prevail lol... then again........ he didnt really know her anyways lol

Do You "Trust" The Police?
by minimus inif the police say such and such a thing, do you tend to automatically believe it?

My dad was a cop and a damned good one. Everything he told us not to do, he did not do. He was not a hypocrite.
tara........... those are the cops i do trust....... i know several and they stand out. but the others ive been around can rival the worst criminals...... so when i meet a good one i do trust him but the rest have to prove it to me first.
as i said before....... i give them respect from the word go....... then wait to see where its gonna go from there.
then again........... ive only ever gotten 2 speeding tickets in my life............ the rest of my encounters with police.............. besides my grandpa has been without issue.
i even got pulled over one night after a meeting............ cause my car was the same color as the drug dealers.......... my car... a dull blue 4 door caprice.......... yeah in need of paint............. no hubcaps.......... what else can i pioneer in.................. just EXACTLY what the drug dealer would want to cruse in lol............ got BOTH cops in town pulling me over in the wal mart parking lot............. i knew one of the cops tho........ used to see him in the local gun store............... has an arsenal in his trunk at all times.............. so he was like .............dudeeeeeeeee what were you doing in that apartment complex?
hell i even thanked him for trying to stop those druggies living next to my sister.

Should I pay up?
by tsunami_rid3r into begin with, i'm moving out of my apartment because my roommate is messy and irresponsible.
2 months ago, i asked him if he was able to find another roommate, and we were able to get to one shortly.
like i told him he has been living here basically half the month to see his girlfriend.
-
primitivegenius
He also told me that my roommate and him will sue me if I don't pay that.
ok now thats funny..........
suggestion........... move your good stuff out first............ preferably all your stuff.
pay the 5 days.......... cause you said you would...... for no other reason.
now question......... your on the lease now? he is gonna get on the lease in your place?
speak to the land lord or property manager type person......... find out what you gotta do to get your name off the lease and EVERYTHING else. then do whatever it is.
if $130 is cheaper........ then hell yeah..... if not then screw them.
now.......... is it easier to pay your share of the 5 days rent to the land lord directly or do you guys have to pay the entire month at a time? if you pay it at once then give them a check or money order and write what its for and say adios bitchezzzzzzzzzzzz.
i wouldnt pay a dime more than you had to on principle.
if you have to have this jerks name put on in place of yours.................. and thats the only way you can get out....... then to cover your a$$ might be a good idea. if you dont have to do that........... then tell him to kiss your rosey red a$$.

Have You Ever Rejected Being Appointed an Elder/MS Before the Announcement?
by GermanXJW inwhen i was a jw several brothers (ms) told me in private that the elders had asked them several times if they did not want to become an elder.
they said they rejected because it was too much responsibility for them.
were you ever approached that the boe wanted to make you an elder but you refused?
-
primitivegenius
i was asked........... is there anything that is preventing you from being an elder? my reply............ said i was still a bit young for the job ...... so they wanted to start me giving public talks locally and try to get me to agree to the position later............ they appointed a friend of mine who was a year older than me or so.
so basicly it was there if i wanted it............ i even belived it was the "truth" at the time and knew better than to take it.

Dumped On.
by RollerDave intis the season, so to speak.. this is the time of year the darkness descends like a proclamation of doom, and the light retreats like a rank and filer encountering an actual, thinking, reasoning person during the failed misery.. i don't exactly operate at a hundred percent in the dark and cold, ironic considering where i live.. so one day, we have a relatively clear parking pad, and the next we get a ton of white shit dumped on us.. such lovely fun, shoveling all the global warming from the drive.. got to take the truck out and let it strut it's stuff, that bad ol' aposta-truck was in it's element and unstoppable.
like the unfailing assault of reason on the last tendrils of mind control left in my wetware.. see, i've been thinking again, in spite of all the trouble it's gotten me in before it's a hard habit to break.
i drive around and everybody is getting their christmas on, and i have always felt so smug that i 'knew better'.. see, here is the witless take; you gotta get all vestiges of pagan influence out of your life, no saturnalia, no lupercalia, no all hallows eve, no 'bless you' to a sneeze, no 'pot lucks', bleh blah yadda.. yet, every day of the week and month of the year is named for a pagan deity, the planets are too.

HELL NO!
i will automaticly start anything haveing to do with a cop with respect and eagerness.............. but i never trust any of them i dont know.
i was told that someone in my family (marriage) used to make a living selling drugs and then used that money to start legit businesses............... and one time while in florida............. they got stopped for something and had over 100grand in a brief case............... cop took it and told them to get the hell out of town.
they let him.............. thats two crooks reconizeing one another and accepting the situation.
my grandfather was a cop.......... but then a new sheriff came to town and told the ENTIRE department that he wanted their resignations on his desk by the end of the week or he would fully investigate every single on of them................. he got what he asked for. the ENTIRE department had a reputation for being crooks.
fact is if your associateing closely with criminals every single day you are either gonna get hardened toward people in general or its gonna rub off on you. you see the bad guys driving cars you can never afford........... your getting shot at.......... yeah it weighs on you.
personally i have nothing against a cop who picks up things in a drug raid...... as long as its not drugs. for example....... their damn guns........ everyone knows the drug dealers are much better armed than the cops.
i wish that the money they seize could be used to better fund and pay the cops..... problem is............. they could go and frame rich folks just for the bonus lol.
