well me personally i would rather be at home or somewhere nice eating unsalted crackers and drinkin a bottle of wine with people i actually cared about, but i will give you your just props for walking into that cesspool to do it. hope it answered any questions our confirmed anything so you dont have to waste your time again. it was dignified, i dont think i could have been but then again i wont go to a kingdom hall ever again. to many other places much better to be.

My Memorial Tonight
by jookbeard ini sat in the car with some trepidation and minor nerves and walked the 200 yards to the k/h on this damp dreary night.
i was a bit early and was greeted pleasantly by a hall attendant who shook my hand an asked my name, as i walked inside to my surprise i recognized 3 of the brethren, one was a guy who was a reasonably good pal who dated a friend of mine all those years back, he exchanged glances and he blanked me, the others were a middle aged couple who were sat a few rows in front of me but no eye contact was made, i proceeded to sit down and another 2 sisters greeted me, so in the space of about 10 mins a grand total of 4 people have made the big effort to say hi.
the opening song commenced and the sister next to me kindly offered me her songbook.

i would try to find the room with the most updated computers or lcd tv's (probably in the annointed only part of the compound) to steal so that i could reclaim some of the money i gave them under false pretenses( beliving they were the truth) and as payback for back wages (3 or 4 years of regular pioneering plus all those kingdom hall builds) and then i would eat mexican, indian and any other type of spicey food and try to take a dump in their most expensive printing press. i figure if its crap in printed form it should be taken LITERALLY lol.
and i must appologize for my crudeity for those cultured folks on the board lol

well its inescapeable that there is no future in that cult, some people take longer to figure that out. some never manage to figure it out, and others figure it out but cant accept the truth of the matter.
we were always counciled not to live a double life, meaning dont go and pretend to be righteous and the kh and then be worldly everywhere else. so i never really did the double life thing. i went from being at every meeting to not going regularly to not at all.
now however i can see that at least if your living that double life you actually get a bit of a real life to live. so maybe your brother is at least trying to have some sort of a life, the life he knows he cannot have in that cult. i hope that is a way for you to reach him but lord knows it will be damn hard for you.

my mother in law drove up to meet us in a city we were flying into, she wanted us to drop her off with a couple of her other children while we took care of some business, now she is a jw and she knows that we are NOT. as we were getting out of her car, we noticed some literature........ amazingly it found its way into a trashcan before we got back to pick her up.
aint ashamed either lol thats like posion and needs to be disposed of safely where it can no longer do any harm

How honest should I be with a JW on Facebook?
by Quillsky inso this woman that i grew up with has sent me a friend request on facebook.
we've done a bit of back and forth "how are you" chat but i haven't accepted her request.. i can see she is still a jw because she belongs to some no-blood facebook group.. i do not want to be her friend on facebook.
i consider witnesses to be bad association and i severely limit the number of jw's i have on my facebook - only close family and people that i share close history with.. so what should i say to this woman?

yeah first things first you got to ask yourself what do you have to lose. if your 100% faded then there is that, when she sees something that she can rat you out to the elders over then what if she does. there goes your fade.
also depends on if you have jw family and being dfed would be an issue for you or not. i added my cult memeber sister after she requested it, and a few months later i posted something on her wall and then i saw it up so i am positive it posted, and then another jw commented on my post...... miraculously my post disappeared from her wall completely. should have unfriended her right then, but i gave her benefit of the doubt and only just finally unfriended her.
most people will err on the side of caution regarding jws as friends, but you got to look at the worst case senerio and if it could get you dfed, can you live with that. and whats the point of being on fb if you have to censor yourself because of jws as friends.
im faded but my parents know i go to another church and am NOT a jw so they have little or no contact with me. so for me it wouldnt matter cause they aint got any power over me whatsoever.

So let me get this straight
by TheICE ina web site called jehovah-witness.net where x-jw's and jw's who pretend to be jw's come to chat about how bad jehovah witnesses are and how they brain washed them etc, would it not be more productive to move on and forget than to let something most of you obviously hate take so much of your time and effort.. for some being a jw is about not being part of the world, what other religion is there that is as moral as a jw.
i am d'fed but i belive that jw's are the true religion.
sure some of them can be self righteous pricks but there imperfect just like anyone else,we all need to focus on us and not worry about what there doing because we can't change them.. .

yo ice i remember you from about.com as well. welcome to the board.
if you read anything that has been posted here you will see that everyone has a different story. some of us were dfed, but many many more of us realized that it was a whitewashed grave full of old mens bones. some of us cant leave because we will lose our family and that is important to us, and others of us took our stand once we found out that the only so called "true" religion has consistantly done everything that they point their self righteous fingers at other religions for doing, and we left and lost our familys.
read whats posted here and take 50% of it for exaggeration................ you should still be able to see through the bull that the watchtower spouts given enough time.
we know, we have all been there. it takes some of us longer to see reality than others. we all struggled with the same conditioned responses that were programmed into us while at the meetings.
as for what is the "true" religion........ well that is a hard one to nail down. the bible says when two or more meet in his name............ i personally would suggest that you do some expiramentation since they cant df you till you get reinstated. go check out a few churches with an open mind, i would look for the nondenominational ones at first. go there with an honest curiosity and dont let the judgemental jw thats still deep inside you stick his nose up in the air. just honestly see how they worship god, you will find all different types of churches out there. whats really amazeing about them is the fact that they only have to answer to ONE person....... and thats god himself. there will be no writeing to bethel and looking up bogus bound volumes to find out how to deal with someone. they approach people lovingly trying to actually help them instead of rushing to kick them out.
are other religions as bogus as the watchtower...... yeah some are. but what you have to do is learn to question EVERYTHING that you were taught before as a jw. open your eyes and try to see it from two viewpoints...... the people going to whichever church you find yourself in......... and gods........ is he proud of them,
when i travel i still go to churches and laugh at how crazy they seem to be to me, but the fact remains that i have found more churches that are great than i have that truely seemed silly to me.
then of course there is the other opinion that you will find here. the opinions of those who no longer beleve in any sort of organized religion, who can say which one of us is correct? it all comes down to what you find in the bible, and i would suggest you throw the nwt in the garbage and get a NIV or an american standard so you can read the real bible and not one that is designed to reinforce a publishing companies policys.
i hope that you stay here and read all the different negative experiences that have been had by people at the hands of the wt. i will give you one perfect truth........ if you are truely trying to do gods will, then you will be looking out for everyones common good, and you wont attempt to mislead or manipulate them because you want whats best for them. you wont intentionally misquote noted scholars in an effort to make them support your opinons, you wont be afraid to publicly admit when your wrong and you will run to change things for the better should they be pointed out to you.............. other religions do this and after they get the egg off their face they get respect for coming clean........... all the jws do is deny and deny and oh we never said that.......
there are many of us in various stages of hurt from the wt, some of us are raw and really freshly hurt, others of us have gotten over a great deal so we arent as sensitive to things. others still have never been a part of it because they either saw through it from the beginning or they came into contact via a loved one. here you will see the whole spectrum of what the watchtower does to people.
come here with an open mind and you will be surprized and shocked and plain old pissed off.
so i say enjoy yourself.
