Poor little old guy, maybe in his older age, he just started to get a little confused about what he was supposed to believe. It happens, senility and dementia, since when are those dis- fellowhsipping offenses. Why didnt they just leave him alone. How awful!

All your recommendations on how to develop a social network....here
by logansrun inone of the most difficult aspects of leaving the jws is finding a new social network to replace the social network you have lost.
finding friends among the jws is not usually a difficult task, but finding them outside the organization can be daunting, especially considering you were told not to develop a social life "in the world.
" discussion boards like this are great...but not enough.

Hi Bradley,
My suggestion would be, to find a hobby, take a class. When you find something you really enjoy doing, become a regular at wherever the place is that you do what you do, whether its a sport, dancing, collecting, or knitting But a hobby, some sort of hobby, find something you think you would enjoy, a pottery class, whatever it may be. Usually these types of activities have a place where you meet once a week, and eventually after seeing the people week after week, you get to know them. But the pressure is not on to go up and strike up a conversation if you dont want to, because you are involved in the activity, whatever it may be.
Thats what I did, with my dancing, we meet at least twice a week, and that is where I find friends.
Good luck

Why so many handshakes?
by JH inthe first thing that struck me when i entered a kh for the first time, was the staggering numbers of handshakes being given here and there.
it was as if they didn't see each other since months or years.
in fact they were together just a few hours earlier in the service.

Ditto Odrade! I always thought it was so cool to go to the Spanish congregations, and be so warmly welcomed with a handshake. Other congregations could be so cold.

woo hoo....JW Mom is coming to my wedding!
by AuSet in....my whacked out jw hardliner mom just informed me this morning that she and my entire jw family will be coming to my wedding on oct. 1st.
this has come totally out of the blue as previous to today she did not give any indication of caring one way or the other whether i got married or not, and had said to me a couple of times "oh, i'll just stay and watch over the food.
i think my more liberal jw sister has managed to talk some sense into her at last.

Hi there, congratulations. That is great for you. I went through a hard time with this, as my father refused to walk me down the aisle, it was so important to me for some reason. But they did attend, and I am sure I would have had much more of some sort of ceremony if it wasnt for them. But for their sake, I had a Justice of the Peace come and do a very very short ceremony, if thats what you want to call it. In the end I am very glad they were there. I hope this works good for you. Have fun with your wedding, dont let anyone spoil it for you!

I need some help
by New Castles ini have been reading and posting (sometimes) for about 7 months and am very grateful to have found a community that understand what i have been going through.
i have been fading for a little over a year now, and have a sudden urge to speak out about how i feel and what wts is doing.
i have tried this in the past with some family, including my wife, who is no longer with me, for the same reason....i have also spoken to my brother and mother.

I will be eagerly waiting to hear responses on this, (sure you will get great ones). I have been thinking of doing the same thing, although I have been faded, forever. I want to share with my parents especially how I feel about the whole JW thing, but everytime I think about how I would approach it, and what ALL there would be to say, I get so overwhelmed, I just say forget it.

What is your passion in life?
by Samdownunder ini was just thinking about how so many were so caught up in the dubs for so many years, and at the time we probably would have all felt that the truth and spreading the good news was our passion.
so what is your passion now?
what makes you tick and excites your senses and captivates you?

YUP! So glad to be out of the org, and discover this about me, would have never known that I had a talent for it otherwise.
