Irony alert....the JW coworker...
by berylblue inokay, we have been rearranged in our "pods" at my exciting career position listening to persons bitch about a popular sports drink.
james, the jw, has been re-seated.
i've got a few inches separating me from him.

Rosemarie its clear.... JEHOVER the God of Abraham , Isaac and Jacob arranged the seating plan.
He controls all things except water towers which even in bible times fell aimlessly squishing people good and bad.
You my friend are in an excellent position to have lots of fun....Go to work before he does...loosen the mouse cable at the back of his computer, the next day the keyboard. Next week remove the track ball from his mouse and cut a piece of it away with a knife and replace it.
You can be his Gremlin and in the process relieve some of your stress as well.

JW emotional probs and Borderline Personality Disorder
by Phantom Stranger ini have seen many posts here about addiction psychology and its relationsship to jw's.
this is an interesting area... and i tend to be a bit sceptical simply due to the "trendyness" that addiction psych is experiencing.
i personally see links to low-intensity borderline personality disorder (high-intensity seems to lead to self-mutilation and suicide attempts, the latter of which we have all heard about).

Are you ever taken aback by what some here have said to you ?
by berylblue inas in ....you post something you feel is rather innocuous, or sincere, or perhaps revealing something rather private and honest and candid, and someone blows you away with a nasty comment?.
i am not speaking of heated debates.
if one participates in those, one expects to receive passionate replies which may sometimes hurt.

Good thread Rosemarie
I have found the forum offers something I wish was available outside the forum, loose women..no, free beer...no..give up!
The ability to look back at a members first posts or topics which they have posted on. When you have a face to face with someone and they totally fly off the handle over something which seems plain and simple you often think..what's up thier caboose. (I read Simons post on nasty words..hence the caboose)
Here on the forum I have seen some fly off the handle over topics which 99% of the forum see in the same light ..yet they don't. Then you read about them and it often clears up in some ways why they feel or reacted a certain way. I think as individuals we are all moulded by our past and present circumstances, try as we may we can't help it.
For instance... I feel so betrayed by the WTBTS that my feelings and words often take on a hate which sometimes I can't control.
Then I see a few who post regularly and defend the WTBTS although they claim not too...Then I'll read back through thier posts and see they do not feel the same betrayal as I do, they have not experienced a tribunal or if they did it just happened to be that rare occurance where it was men who actually placed the needs of the individual first.
Anyway... before you get hurt or retort with a stinging reply, the time machine tool on the forum enables you to look back and possibly see why that person reacted like they did.
If you truly care about your fellowman take the time to see what makes them tick.

here piggy piggy
by peacefulpete inthe fanciful tale in the nt about jeus expelling demons from a man by sending them into 2000 swine who subsequently leap into the sea and drown, has always perplexed me.
aside from the contradictions and other problems in the two versians of the story(eg.
number of possessed men, no "sea" for 30 some miles from place of setting etc.

Interesting pete
I was just coincidentally reading those verses the other day and remarked to my wife, why was there 2000 pigs in an area where pork was forbidden. Did they raise pork and sell it to the gentiles or were they in a gentile area of the country?
Demons seemed to be blamed for everything at that time. Even a dumb demon was expelled which had rendered a man dumb...speechless I presume. They attributed almost all ailments to demons.

Pick one.....The lesser of two evils.
by Adam inif you had to be born into a religious family and stuck in it 'till you finally broke free, would you rather it be mormon or jw?
-

Mormon...then I could entertain the hope of having my own planet.
They seem to be more liberal about everything except alcohol, coffee...etc
They are certainly not hated as much as JW's...being a mormon kid in school must be easier than being a dub.

Update on my son's JC meeting
by freeman inthank you all for your kind words and concern.
my wife tells me the meeting with the three wise-men went pretty good.
regrettably, no elders were decked during the meeting (yes i am quite disappointed too) and so an announcement will be made next week that he was reproved and found repentant.

Were you psychologically abused into going to meetings/service ???
by run dont walk inwe have all read and watched so many of the child abuse / sexual abuse scandals, and it makes us all sick to our stomachs, i want to touch on a different kind of abuse, i am not trying to draw a parellel between child abuse and being abused.
the abuse i am talking about is just as bad but so different.
i remember growing up a jw, basically having no choice, whether i wanted to go to the meetings or in service, and i always resented this in my parents.

Me too RDW
A constant verbal attack to go in service and meetings....Now I've got a loving wife doing the same damn thing, it just never stops.
