Getting married and leaving the org...the two best things I've ever done. :)
On a global level...I don't even think I was aware of anything that happened outside of my personal sphere of existance. Hopefully next year I'll be tuned in with the rest of the world. :p ;)
many persons express why they are angry toward the jw religion but what gets you depressed, just thinking about it, regarding the witnesses?
I had lots of friends and loved ones who were Witnesses, and now they're all utterly broken hearted and shattered (esp my parents) because they believe I'm going to die. I ache for them because it's all so senseless.
i have to ask, how many here have become non believers in god and christ since leaving the jehovahs witnesses and why?

I still believe in God, though not in the Biblical sense. I believe Jesus was probably a great guy, but not the son of God. I really hate the thought of being sinful and deserving of death and needing someone else to save me. That just feels codependent to me, and if there's a God, I don't believe that he's codependent. ;-)

I'm with sns on this one. I'm kind of at a loss. :) Actually I'm excited about buying makeup and body lotions for my girlfriends....but I don't know what the hell to get for guys...especially my friends' husbands and boyfriends who I don't know that well.

I was really scared of them when I was little too. I remember there was one who used to be in our KH...he kind of went nutso after he was DF'd and threw huge rocks in the elders' living room windows. *eek* He would also picket at our KH during the meetings with signs about one of the JW pillars in the area raping his daughter. (I actually don't think he had kids.) He would also come in to the KH during meetings and wave the signs around during the talks. When he was still a JW I remember him giving me candy. I kind of liked him after that (as a rule I didn't like any males I wasn't related to). I remember asking my mom why he had a sign that said an elder raped his daughter. She said that apostates make stuff like that up just to get people mad. *arrgh* Now I wonder. Sure he may have been nutso, but maybe he was for a reason.
I remember someone handing me apostate literature when I was pioneering as an adult. The lady who handed it to me seemed really nice, and her eyes and voice had such a pleading quality when she asked me to read it. I was sorely tempted, and had I been at the door alone, I probably would have pocketed the pamphlet and read it later. But since I was with someone else I felt like I had to make a show of getting rid of it so I tore it to pieces in the car (got myself a big-ass papercut because of it!) and threw it in a dumpster so I wouldn't be tempted to tape it together later. I've always wondered what it said.

i have a small stash of a few things somewhere that i want to torch, no books or anything but i have some assembly badge cards, several old identity cards (the kind kids always had to carry just in case!
), and the full version card mom got last year in anticipation of me wanting one when i get baptised next summer.
I threw away most of my lit, but I'm saving the new Children's book for a fire. 8-)

i haven't really decided what i believe but i'll consider almost anything not witness related.
No, I don't like organized religion. I questioned all my beliefs after I was mentally free too...I decided that I don't really believe in the Bible, though I like some of its concepts here and there. I do believe in God, though not always following the Bible's definition of God.

It really sucks that everything came out at our wedding...and we're having to deal with all the emotional aftermath crap during our honeymoon and first year of marriage. It's not fair...but I'm so glad we have each other. <3
