My thanks also. It gave me the ammunition and reason to walk away.

I am on the edge of a freak out ..... I think???
by DATA-DOG inso the rc really sucked, but i made it through.
the propaganda was mind blowing.
i don't know if the crap will be available on the official website or not, but hopefully it gets leaked somehow.

Poor you.
Carry on providing for your family. You are doing the right thing here. It's the WTBS that's wrong and morality bankrupt.
Try not to take Mrs data dog seriously, she's in cult control.

Where do we go when we die?
by bsand20 inmy best friend of 14 years and maid of honor passed away 2 months ago at age 32 after battling breast cancer for 6 years.
i haven't been the same since for many reasons.. as a jw kid i believed 144,000 chosen went to heaven, the good people would be resurrected including those who didn't have a chance to hear about jehovah, and the rest, which were of other religions and bad people, died and would cease to exist.
again, because i was a kid when i left, i never really understood the jw position on death and why they came to their conclusion.

I would like to think there was another place to go when we die.
I will try and let you know on jw.net when I am there.

Make Lemonade, thank you for sharing that experience. Your daughter stuck her neck out and stood up for those who cannot always do it for themselves. I was lucky that some non-jw, non-churchgoers decided to stand up for me. It is given me courage. Hope you and your family are doing okay now.
I also saw what disfellowshipping did for my own mother. She had 5 years of extreme lonlieness, drowned in alcohol and generally was a very bitter person. She then had a happy 10 years but got re-instated 14 years ago, she now is a difficult person to be around but has good spells.
Sir 82, I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to inspire the next circuit assembly programme!!!
Thank you so much for all your comments and encouragement.

Just a quick update on the events at my local supermarket.
I was called into a meeting by one of the department managers last week. I had a meeting this morning.
Anyway, to cut a long story short. The people involved in this will be called into a private meeting and spoken to. Basically, saying that ALL customers should be treated with respect and staff to remain professional at all times etc.....No exceptions.
I said this was a positive step. BUT I did mention that these people may feel they have to resign their positions over this. The manager in question replied "that's tough but I don't want people like that working in my store." What a breakthrough!!!
The manager in question has a friend who married a JW and he found the "cult" pretty restrictive and strange, at best.
I said it made me feel as if I was making a stand for those ones who have been so badly affected by "shunning", they have taken their own lives. Not to mention being ostracised from their families, children and friends.
I wonder if this will now be brought up as a "local needs" item? No doubt making the R&F feel like matryrs.
No regrets.

What makes a true friend?
by stuckinarut2 inso the "model" presentation for this months latest awake mag is this (as found in the latest kingdom ministry):.
social networks have made it possible for people to have more so-called friends than ever before.
what would you say is the most important quality of a true friend?

Friends should be like knickers - and cover your ass!!!
No, seriously, a true friend is someone you can phone in the middle of the night and ask for help and they'll be there whatever.
Loyalty. Trust. Someone who isn't afraid to tell you when your'e being an idiot either.

What's the difference between exJWs who FLOURISH and those that don't?
by Fernando inquite a few here on jwn seem to have grown and developed in leaps and bounds, sometimes beyond their wildest dreams.. others seem to still be struggling.. what do you think makes it possible to flourish?.
the degree to which our mind has been liberated from watchtower thinking?.
if so, this seems to happen in many different ways, so what is the secret?.

Yes, I would agree with Kate. It really depends on each individual. If you have family in, lot's of close friends, business connections or a vindictive ex. Or even a combination of several factors.
I was lucky.

Reviling of Rebels
by FFtruther144 inthis past sunday at our meeting, the talk was focused on "rebelion".
as usual, doctored-up scriptures were plucked out of context from the nwt so that "rebels worldwide" were slandered, actually reviled.
the concept of defiance of authority or resistance to government or to the payment of taxes was also ridiculed and discouraged.

You must have felt pretty crazy after listening to this crap.
I agree, the best rebellion is walking away - with your freedom of mind.
Good luck.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY HALL SCANDAL
by The Searcher intowards the end of last year, the witnesses in scotland had their own assembly hall opened in the town of livingston, near edinburgh the capital.. this was achieved no doubt by blood, sweat, and tears by many over a very long period - as well as by donations of witnesses from all over scotland and its islands, not forgetting the levy per publisher imposed on all the congregations in the guise of "donations"!.
was the org grateful for the sacrifices which were made to bring a great "shout of praise" to whoever?
nope!

AndDon'tCallMeShirley, you are not alone in being "dumbfounded" wondering how the WTBS have charity status.
Someone should write to the Charities Commission and ask for an investigation. I dread to think how much money they've been given over the years. And what exactly has been "done" with it.
Rip off merchants.
