Unbelievable Watchtower quote from 1962!!.. ''Don't waste time speculating on what year Armageddon will come'' (check it on cd-rom if you like)
by defender of truth inwt 6/15 1962 p.380-383.
"likewise it is possible to spend valuable time speculating on matters concerning the future.
one might ask, in what year will armageddon begin?...jehovah has not provided answers at this time.

Blood transfusion refused by parents of a 6 month old!!
by outforever inthis was in the paper wednesday - in south africa - durban.
which is quite surprising as our papers usually do not carry stories like this.. this is a prem baby - now 6 months.
the dr's had to obtain a high court order to allow the procedure.. the baby had to have a blood transfusion as it could not absorb the mother's milk and supplements cannot be used because of his tiny body.. the parents refused to give their consent and was on life support so the dr submitted to the court that this was an infringement on the.

A woman and a mother herself posted this astute comment under this news story:
“Why kill such a precious gift when an acceptable and sure cure is at hand? Perhaps laws need to change: children should only be bound by the religious restrictions of their parents once they are old enough to understand and accept the implications thereof.”
Personally I still can’t believe in the year 2014 this insanity is still going on in the WTS. (I understand the potential lawsuits from JW families who lost loved ones over the blood issue.) But this has become a default scenario where the parents of a minor child, especially babies will refuse blood. Then a judge is called at 3 a.m., who is forced to be the decision maker and authorize a transfusion. The parents feel good and appear as loyal JW’s to all in the congregation, what a fine example they are!
Marvin Shilmer has an excellent explanation of a “Letter of Understanding” available in some hospitals. It asks parents to sign a letter of understanding, drafted with the help of the hospital liaison committee, that says the institution recognizes their religious objections and will try to avoid transfusions if at all possible. The letter is not a consent form, but adds that where the child is at imminent risk of serious harm or death, medical staff will press ahead with the transfusion. I hope this link is clickable. Sorry if it isn’t maybe someone could fix it for me.

On this same post he also has a link to the National Post news article dealing with this letter. This letter allows everyone to "play nice" in the hospital, thereby avoiding negative WTS publicity.
December 20, 2012 article of the National Post: Without fanfare, Jehovah’s Witnesses quietly soften position on blood transfusions.

Who is the mediator for the R&F now?
by nonjwspouse inhas this been changed?
i thought this might need a new thread.. the memorials i have heard about multiple ones noted the prayer ending with something like "jesus our mediator".. sams on another thread :.
nonjwspouse: sahs, so has it now been stated that jesus is only the mediator for the fds, not all the anointed as was previously?.

sd-7 said: “The 'faithful slave' is the mediator for the R&F now. They've gone so far as to say that once they get to heaven they'll help apply the value of the ransom sacrifice to mankind's sins over the course of a thousand years.”
Is the above comment, “The 'faithful slave' is the mediator for the R&F now” in a WT article as an official explanation on this.
If someone has the time, I’d appreciate seeing the references to this statement. I may have missed it in the flurry of “New Light” revealed over the last few years. Thanks.

Jehovah's Witnesses: Who's Your Mediator?
by Darth Rutherford inis jesus your mediator?

I asked several JW’s including some elders at the beginning of my 5 year fade, “Who is your mediator?” They all 100% answered, “Jesus of course!” My wife who is still a “true believer” and pioneered almost 2 decades was also taken aback when I showed her the actual teaching.
After being baptized 40 years and having better than average study skills and good memory recall, I’m embarrassed to admit this teaching slipped by me. The 1986 book, Worldwide Security Under the “Prince of Peace” is still available on the 2013 WT Library. There it clearly says pg. 10 par. 16, “Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.”
I felt foolish and shocked by this. Only realized it from comments made here over the years, and on other websites.
Great comments and observations on this thread. Thanks.

The GB, is evidently “all in” with their jw.org website. They have somehow (foolishly) convinced themselves that the WTS’s total involvement and advertising of jw.org will be the solution to their problems. The evil internet will be the way that millions more will be reached, taught and convinced to join the only true religion. I must be missing something in their logic on this subject. Time will tell.

I didn’t go again (4 yrs. now) my wife went with a couple in the congregation. Thanks for the summary and highlights from the talk. I am still quite amazed that they will use every opportunity to plug their website. They the GB, have somehow (foolishly) convinced themselves that this total immersion and promotion of jw.org is the answer for all that ails them. They are so committed to this website, even with all the countless others that expose them using their own literature. Time will tell.

CONSOLIDATION REQUEST: Branch Closings
by Black Man inhey all - i was wondering if we can use this thread as an ongoing one to detail branch closings of the last 5 years or so and any moving forward?
i had a discussion with some members of my family, who are still dyed in the wool jws, and they didn't believe me about numerous branch closures in recent years.
i was trying to look up some threads that talked about it here (on my phone), but couldn't find a thread quickly.. thanks in advance!.

Good idea in my opinion, don’t remind me, I already know what they say about opinions. Produce here a compilation of all branches that close. As they continue to occur in the future we add the names to this post. The subject will be easy to search for; “Branch Closings.”

Something to pay attention to, if you go to the Memorial...
by undercover ini'm cutting and pasting from one of my own posts from some timem ago.
if you're having to go to this thing tonight, pay attention to how the speaker explains the timing of events at the passover meal, and then compare that to what the bible actually says.... an oldie, but one of my better goodies, i think.... .
yes, it's time for that annual ritual...no, no...not the ritual of nibbling on crackers and sipping cheap wine, but the ritual of comparing wt teachings of how jesus instituted the memorial versus what the bible actually says.. current wt theology.... as cut and pasted from their own website:.
