Sorry Gregor, I said it in 2007, many others have said it too. The first time I saw it was in an article from 1998.

WTS causing more anguish
by GapingMouth ini don't really know where to start on my first post; i feel i have so much to say and yet i am so emotionally tired that it is hard to go through it all again in my head.
but, i do need support and advice and so i will make the effort.. i started having doubts about certain beliefs of the witnesses about 2 years ago and did research since that i now come to the belief there is no god, and witnesses definitely are a cult.. at first it bothered me more on the god issue, but now i am more bothered by the cult issue, mainly because it dictates my life even though i am aware of it.. when i was a child, my mother and father divorced and my mother told me i will live with my father because she was going to die at armageddon being a non witness.
i think, as well as many other pressures i cant list for fear of a very long post, this was the main pressure that made me get baptized even though i wasn't that happy being a witness.

Welcome Gaping. I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time.
(Shame on you, Password. Why don't you take it to a new thread. The OP's beliefs are not up for debate here. Clearly you don't care about being kind or supportive, you just want a platform for your tirades against beliefs that differ from yours. Hey! Just like the JWs! Wow!)

This thread cracks me up. Hi Mr. Cognac. Welcome to the jungle. Notwithstanding the fact that "Pooter" is a very entertaining nickname, I think I will refer to you as "Armagnac."

Found a Real Gem Here!
by Farkel ini really shouldn't be starting any new threads and almost put this one as a reply in the 1928 pdf messenger thread, but it is just too juicy to get buried right away.. i suggest that anyone even halfway interested in jw history download that 1928 messenger pdf.
it is full of treasures.
here is one i found on page 7 of the newsletter (page 25 of the pdf file).

Nice. Cracks me up. It's amazing how they've morphed all of this into some little propaganda machine that convinces the sheeple that they are not book salesmen.

Hey Mary... I've been busy trying to get this house fixed up, running a business, dealing with raising a damn dachshund who ate my kitchen floor and terrorizes the neighborhood... You know, LIFE! :) Good to see you're still kickin'!

What happens when you pull an instant fade?
by bluecanary ini left the jws one year ago by moving accross the country and not going to a new hall.
the dubs in my last hall knew i was moving and they know i haven't requested my card for a new hall.
what do they usually do in such a circumstance?.

Let me get this straight: you got divorced, left the JWs, moved across the country to a (presumably) whole new life, where you've now had new sexual partners and/or relationships, and you're worried about making sure your EX-husband doesn't have the congregation's permission to remarry because you think he's a jerk?
Perhaps the question shouldn't be: "does he have scriptural grounds to remarry if nobody finds out I've slept with someone?"
but rather: "where can I find a good counselor who will help me not to waste anymore time trying to punish someone I've already removed from my life?"

Ugh, my aching back. Finished digging up the flower beds. Now I'm ready for my gin and tonic.
