The answer to that question does not hinge on religious belief WT.or otherwise. Its depends on scientific evidence. What we believe about it is inconsequential.Incontrovertible proof is still open to question as to life on other planets as we know it to be here on earth.Even so ,that does not mean it does not exist. Now on the other hand,IF and that's a big"IF.Satan challenged the sovereignty of the Creator. And this planet was indeed the first opportunity to do so.Then maybe just maybe, and remember this is not based on incontrovertible proof, but a belief system, then we are all there is at present time.To sum up my thinking on the matter, the very question is controversial. Also, it is contingence upon personal experiences that much has been written about. "IF" is always the big question.Life itself is a big if ,right in the center of the word itself is the word "IF". L--IF--E, LIFE. Blueblades

Life on other planets?
by freedom96 inas jw's, we were taught that there is no way that there is life anywhere but here on earth.. i personally never bought into that completely.
there are billions and billions of solar systems out there.
i do believe that absolutely there is life on other planets.

Is God Intelligent?
by SpannerintheWorks insurely it takes more power and intelligence to create the world as it is and by a process that we describe as "evolution" , rather than by a single creation event?.

Design bespeaks intelligence.Intelligence bespeaks a mind.A Mind bespeaks a person.Evolution or Creation, one without the other or both mixed together. Design bespeaks intelligence and so on.Blueblades

Do You Believe In God Or Not?
by minimus inif you've been associated with the witnesses, believing in god was a necessity.
do you still feel that god exists?
if you believe in god, do you feel that he cares about you?

Who was it that said ,"Design bespeaks intelligence.Intelligence bespeaks a mind.A Mind bespeaks a person. So,even if we put the Bible on the side, the physical, that is of nature and all matter is evidence of Design.Again, Design bespeaks intelligence and so on.Do I believe in God, unequivocally yes.Does HE care about me,yes. Not only me, but everything in his mind .Do I understand this? NO!!!!!! Blueblades

Freeness of Speech
by Blueblades inhave you ever been told that you do not qualify for a privilege because you lack," freeness of speech".this lack of "freeness of speech" may be the result of something you did or did not do.
also some member of your family could of done something or failed to do something and so the elders decided that you do not have" freeness of speech" because of it.
and so you did not qualify for a privilege.

Blondie,My understanding of what the expression freeness of speech means is this:According to WT.policy, when an elder or ministerial servant or a pioneer or a memeber of their family does not set a good example continuosly in whatever area of WT.policy, then that one in position of privilege, can lose that positon if the body of elders deem it so.They then determine that the individual no longer has "freeness of speech"before the congregation. For example:An elder may have very few hours out in the field service, yet in his comments he always elevates the need to be out in the field. The cong. may not listen to his comments because he is hardly ever out in the field. And the cong. may feel that he does not have freeness of speech in this area because he is not practicing what he preaches in the hall. The elders may be aware of this .But they decide if he has freeness of speech not the cong. They determine that he supports the field service by means of his comments never undermining the field service in his comments.Yet, behind closed doors they may make him the topic of conversation about his low hours not being a good example and so could also ask him to step down if this is ongoing and the flock is talking about it.they will use the freeness of speech issue created by the WT's policy and enforced by the CO.when he visits the cong. This policy of freeness of speech is held-up whenever the CO. or the elders are out to get someone for whatever the hidden reasons.Whether its you personally or a member of your family. However,I must clarify that some in position of privilege, honestly don't belong in that position.Im not being judgmental .Blueblades

Zechariah, MARK 9:24,I believe;help my unbelief! Admitting the imperfection of his faith, mixed as it was with doubt, the desperate father pleaded with Jesus to help him to have the greater faith the Lord demanded of him.And yet he was not a disciple of Jesus. The disciple's failure is surprising,in light of the power granted them by Jesus.MARK 3:15",And to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons".So, Jesus gave the 12 the right to expel demons. And they did such. However they seemed to have lost their faith in this particular situation. Why is this surprising, because the father who is not a disciple admits his unbelief and cries out to Jesus "Help my unbelief". How did Jesus help his unbelief? He cast out the demon himself ! We today are not able to see such a demonstration to help our unbelief. So,faith is not enough, the disciples inability to help this father is prove of that.Blueblades

The Courage to Leave
by Victor_E inthe advancing technology of the internet will continue to change the topography of the watchtower.
they can no longer function with the age long philosophy of business as usual due to the proliferation of computers and the easy access to information.
this as we have seen will lead to more baby boomers and generation xers logging on to educate themselves of the truth about the jw truth.

Victor_E, " For me,nothing is more exciting to read than letters from those who are in the process of leaving the Watchtower organization and coming to realize for the first time in their life that something is amiss, that they are on the verge of a discovery that will rock their world. There is indeed ,LIFE outside of the Watchtower, a bigger and better life". This is part of the introduction to RANDALL WATTERS, Letters to the Editor, Book Two 1989 to1995 The Recent Years. It confirm all that you have so eloquently written here.Having read Letters to the Editor, and having talked with Randy by phone I have been encouraged by those who have presented their story for all to read. While still inside, my family is working out the courage to leave.Randy, if you read this ,please accept my apology for quoting part of your introduction without your permission .But your words express it better than mine.Thank You. You are never really alone in life
by kenpodragon inrecently as i posted on this site, a very dear friend of mine lost her child in a most terrible manner.
it has been five days now, and they have laid the child to rest, but the love that had poured out to these two parents has been astounding.
the thing is, the love that is the most surprising is the love that has come from the online friends.

Will God intervine?
by kelsey007 inor is this life on earth only a testing or proving ground for an eternal life elsewhere?
as jw's we were taught that god will intervine in the world and bring the earth to a unified state under a theocratic government.
so, is man capable of maintaining the earth without intervention from a "higher source"?

Life After Death.
by Blueblades inwhy did jesus speak of a dead man as merely sleeping?does this mean that there is no life after death?that death and sleep are actually one and the same?lazarus himself is silent about this.after having spent four days in the tomb dead, he comes alive,or awakens from sleep.when we really sleep our bodies do not corrupt.they clean house so to speak and we are refreshed for another day of life.however, what about lazarus, his body started to corrupt, for he was indeed dead, yet when jesus resurrected him he was whole, alive again..where was he for four days.
?and does the answer to this question answer the question "is there life after death"?
im not asking about near death experiences.that's a whole other subject.im wondering if the lazarus case was unique in demonstrating jesus' power over death,no matter how long one is dead, for he had resurrected others also.
