Balanced!!!
by barbar inthe witnesses often talked about being balanced, but usually that meant do less of what you wanted and more "theocratic" things.
in fact if you spent 100% of your waking time in the ministry you would probably be viewed as a balanced person.. come to think of it witnesses are very unbalanced or extreme in their views.. any examples of how they are unbalanced?.

If you could?
by barbar insometime in my daydreams especially when someone has treated me badly, i think that it would be good to get rid of aggressive, violent people.
then it is easy to move on to liars and thieves and cheats.
in the end, if i am feeling particularly aggrieved most people are gone and it is just me and my close circle left.

How far would they go?
by barbar ina while ago my mother said that if the society asked the jws to do something that was wrong they wouldn't do it.
it is already easy for them to go against their own consciences, many don't feel it is right to shun others but they do it because they are told to.
most would feel dreadful with letting their children die but would do it if blood was needed because the society tells them to.

Who's choice is disfellowshipping really?
by barbar inoften jws say that it is a person who made the decision to stop talking to friends and family by their actions.
it was not the fault of the religion as they were left with no choice because the person had deliberatly decided to turn agaianst jehovah and they took a decision to cut their friends and family off.. so consider this scenario.. a jw is disfellowshipped and never reinstated, 10 years later his family become jws.
at this point his family cannot speak to him becuase they are told not to by the elders.. was there any decision on his part to not speak to his family?

Who is directing them?
by barbar injws claim to be led by god.
he is directing their organisation by his spirit.. they believe that smoking is wrong, in fact a disfellowshipping offense.
so why did god not tell them that smoking was wrong?.

Different interpretation
by barbar intonight i saw a group of people having a barbecue on the beach, from a distance i thought "i bet they are religious".
as i walked to my car there was oen of the group preaching to the rest about peter walking on water and when he started to sink jesus shot his hand out and saved him.
he said this showed jesus love.

Mis-quotes
by barbar inthe other day i read about a bible commentator who was upset that the wtbts has mis-quoted him.
they had said he felt the nwt was a good translation and he had not.
can't remember where i read it or who he was.. do you have any recollections of times that they had quoted experts in their field and misled the wt readers by implying that the expert supported the wtbts when in fact they had not.

Maternal Instinct
by barbar init is often thought that a mother has an instinct to protect her child.
so much so that she may become extremely violent when faced with a situation that may damage her chidren.. this is not just anger but a deep instinctive emotion, that is stronger in women than men.. why?
if we were created perfect, with no danger around us.

Do you think of yourself as an apostate
by barbar inmany of the people on this site say that they are apostates.
but that is not the way i feel about myself.. i am not angry with the "witnesses" or the organisation, i don't feel that i wasted my life.
i just think that i was stupid to believe it for 30 years (well sort of believe it, i did have severe doubts on and off).

Who actually did the disfellowshipping?
by barbar in.
when i was disfellowshipped, i was really looking for a way out, although i did not want to be disfellowshipped, it was easier than making the break on my own.. i appreciate that many are distraught when they get df'd, but was the actual meeting controlled by the elders or you?.
how many were really in control of the meeting and knew that being disfellowshipped was actually a way of ensuring that you would get no more hassle from the elders?
